Trials of Mandalore

"So Mandalorians use the same tactics that a regular soldier would? Interesting. I've read in the Jedi Temple that the Mandalorians were nearly unstoppable when they attacked in force." She looked around. "It's getting hot, can we discuss this inside?"

He looked up at the sweltering sun, then nodded. Once they were inside, he continued talking about battle tactics.

"We are unstoppable because we fight for something greater than ourselves. We fight for honor, glory, and to glorify Kad Haringar and our ancestors."

Sandis bit her lip. The Uj cake was surprisingly good, especially after a fight. As Verz grabbed some from the fridge, Sandis grabbed a fork and knife out of the drawer.
It was funny. When she first met Verz, all she could think about was running. That had been her goal until she landed on Mandalore. Now, she could hardly even think about the subject. Verz was like a father to her, teaching and training. It made her wonder... "Do the Mandalorians ever adopt children?"

The question caught Verz off guard. He took a small piece of uj cake and ate it. Then he answered.

"Adoption is quite common actually. A Mandalorian buir might offer to adopt a war orphan if they are i impressed by their tenacity, survival instincts, anything like that. What made you ask?"

"Well," said Sandis slowly, struggling to get the words out, "You're...you're pretty much the closest thing I've ever had to a father. I never knew my real one."

Verz laughed at her remark.

"But, before I adopt you, you must know that being a Mandalorian includes rallying to the Mandalore should he call for us. That includes if we ever take arms against the Republic. Are you willing to do that?"
