Vay’s blade was not intercepted as it swung upward, instead gliding past her opponent’s side with no outright block. It was a miss.

Knowing that she was otherwise open for a counterattack from Lily’s saber, Vayla sidestepped to evade it, stepping to the outside of Lily’s weapon. She did indeed remember her opponent’s punch and expected no less from the Echani.

Thus, as she sidestepped, Vayla swung her lightsaber one-handed to intercept her opponent’s. Meanwhile Lily’s punch had to come from further away, from Lily’s other hand whose flank Vayla was not at, and would miss Vayla that moment due to her sidestep.

Concurrently, upon blocking Lily’s saber with her own, Vayla shot her free fist forward toward Lily’s saber-hand. If the punch landed then it would knock Lily’s saber from her grip.
