STRENGTHS
  • Eternal Flame: The Tracynaumiit burns with the same chemical signature as the Lighthouse of Tor Valum, a flame every Iron Covenant warrior can recognize on sight. On a battlefield, in an atmosphere, or by sensors from low orbit, that distinctive burn is unmistakable, serving as a rallying point, a signal, and a statement all simultaneously.
  • When All Else Fails: A warrior cut off, downed, or surrounded who triggers burst mode can broadcast their position and distress on encrypted Iron Covenant frequencies to every ship and helmet HUD in range. The fire calls the vode home.
  • Mandalorian-grade: The Tracynaumiit itself is durable and reusable indefinitely. Only the chemical canister is expendable, and Kayatr'ade Forges produces replacement charges as a standard supply item. A warrior never needs to be without their signal.
WEAKNESSES
  • Final Burst: Emergency burst discharge destroys the canister entirely and cannot be reversed or interrupted once triggered. The canister must be replaced to be used again.
  • Visibility Cuts Both Ways: The brand's signature is distinctive and visible at extreme range, to friends and enemies alike. Lighting the Tracynaumiit announces a position. In a stealth context, it is highly impractical.
DESCRIPTION
The Tracynaumiit, the Storyfire Brand, is a commemoration of the embarkation of the Mythos Fleet. It was forged in the fires of Tor Valum on the eve of the Mythos Fleet's embarkation, in the same Bloodforges where warriors consecrated their steel and pledged their lives to the crusade. Kayatr'ade Smiths worked the casings by hand, sealed the first charges with the same chemical compound that feeds the great Naubraar of the Iron Covenant, and pressed them into the hands of those who answered the call.

To carry the Tracynaumiit is to carry a piece of that night. The chemical signature of its flame is not arbitrary; it is the flame, the same as the Naubraar beacon that guides all Mandalorians, the same deep orange-white burn that lit the hall where Zavar Kelborn drove his torch into the pyre and told the gathered Mando'ade they would become a supernova. Every Iron Covenant warrior who has stood in that hall knows that color. When it appears on a battlefield, in the dark of a planetary atmosphere, or as a point of light on a fleet tactical display, the message is immediate and unambiguous: we are here. The standard use is simple. The brand deploys from its collapsed carry form, the canister ignites on trigger, and the Storyfire burns.

The burst mode is a last-resort option for Mandalorians in emergencies. When a warrior triggers burst discharge, the full canister detonates in a single towering column of chemical fire, visible from distances no standard flare could reach. In the same instant, an encrypted hyperwave pulse fires outward on Iron Covenant frequencies, broadcasting the warrior's IFF tag, their last confirmed coordinates, and a single distress flag. Every ship in range receives it. Every helmet HUD in range receives it. The vode will know where you fell, and they will come, or they will avenge you.

The canister does not survive burst mode, but the Brand itself does. Kayatr'ade metalsmiths built casing to outlast the charge, because a warrior who survives their own distress signal deserves to carry the Brand again, when a new canister finds their hand.

PTION
(Describe some of the histories behind the submission. Give us some idea of how it might perform its function, what it excels against and what some limitations of it are. This is where you talk about your idea, flesh it out over at least a good-sized paragraph, and address some of the ways it might be used or abused. For especially powerful or ambitious submissions, a very thorough description is recommended.)
