The Mentor

Eenia's sister leaving the Order after her rescue two years ago still remained a fixture in his mind. He had been partial to Anora, he'd liked her very much. And if not for something or other blocking her signature and forcing them to rely on more traditional methods, perhaps things could have been avoided. But it was what it was. Things had happened as they did for a reason, and Josh had to accept that. Despite that, his heart ached for Eenia, who was alone now. The Rest would always be a home to her if she wished it, but he knew that a home was only as much of a home as it felt like. All he could do was continue to be there for her until the time came she was ready to venture out herself as a Jedi Knight. That was his job. And one he would do no matter how long it took.
But this had not been his only worry over the last few years. The revelation that his son, Jason, was a Force Sensitive was alarming to him. It had hit him quickly. His worst nightmare had come true. Right in front of him. On a day that was meant to be a happy day for the family, the one thing that Josh would have never wished on Jason had come to pass. In order to protect the privacy of their home on Naboo, Jason would have to be trained in order to control his power and be able to hide his presence when they were here, just as anyone who stepped into their house was instructed to do. And with that training would come the pressure to walk in his father's footsteps. Pressure he did not want put on him. The Force was a gift, he knew. One deep down he was happy Jason had inherited. But he was sad too, for as much of a gift, as much of a blessing as it was... It was a curse as well. One they would have to manage for the rest of their lives. That meant he needed to be better as a teacher. To be better for his Padawans... And now, for Jason.
Reflection was his mindset as he sat cross-legged in the training room. The same position as when she had walked in for her first class. He was a bit older, hopefully a bit wiser... But he'd like to think in the right ways he was still the same and changed in others. Eenia would be soon to arrive and he'd already outlined today's lesson. Going over what she had learned, filling out the holes in her game... The time for her to take a lightsaber was close at hand. Now was the time to prepare her for the day she would be able to use it.
