To Reflect, to Learn, to Be [Dragon School]

[member="Eenia Vahn"]

Eenia's sister leaving the Order after her rescue two years ago still remained a fixture in his mind. He had been partial to Anora, he'd liked her very much. And if not for something or other blocking her signature and forcing them to rely on more traditional methods, perhaps things could have been avoided. But it was what it was. Things had happened as they did for a reason, and Josh had to accept that. Despite that, his heart ached for Eenia, who was alone now. The Rest would always be a home to her if she wished it, but he knew that a home was only as much of a home as it felt like. All he could do was continue to be there for her until the time came she was ready to venture out herself as a Jedi Knight. That was his job. And one he would do no matter how long it took.

But this had not been his only worry over the last few years. The revelation that his son, Jason, was a Force Sensitive was alarming to him. It had hit him quickly. His worst nightmare had come true. Right in front of him. On a day that was meant to be a happy day for the family, the one thing that Josh would have never wished on Jason had come to pass. In order to protect the privacy of their home on Naboo, Jason would have to be trained in order to control his power and be able to hide his presence when they were here, just as anyone who stepped into their house was instructed to do. And with that training would come the pressure to walk in his father's footsteps. Pressure he did not want put on him. The Force was a gift, he knew. One deep down he was happy Jason had inherited. But he was sad too, for as much of a gift, as much of a blessing as it was... It was a curse as well. One they would have to manage for the rest of their lives. That meant he needed to be better as a teacher. To be better for his Padawans... And now, for Jason.

Reflection was his mindset as he sat cross-legged in the training room. The same position as when she had walked in for her first class. He was a bit older, hopefully a bit wiser... But he'd like to think in the right ways he was still the same and changed in others. Eenia would be soon to arrive and he'd already outlined today's lesson. Going over what she had learned, filling out the holes in her game... The time for her to take a lightsaber was close at hand. Now was the time to prepare her for the day she would be able to use it.

Learning that Anora had been kidnapped had been hard for Eenia. Harder than that still was everything that had happened afterwards. There were mixed stories, mixed signals. It was a jumble of madness that Nia didn't understand and quite frankly? She didn't want to. But worse than her sister being taken away without her being able to do anything about it had been learning that Anora wasn't coming back. It had been a short, impersonal letter stating as such, and nothing else.

And then the real kick in the teeth afterwards? Getting word that her parents were now both dead and gone as well.

There had been a very dark period for the blonde Vahn sister. She had lashed out on more than on occasion, closed herself off, and had been a real pain to be around for any length of time. However, she had not at all been alone. Kahlil had stuck by her side, suffered through Nia's bouts of rage, and had prevailed. He had been there to pick her up and keep her held together until Eenia eventually had started feeling like herself again. It had taken time, but with the right support, she had pulled through and more or less gotten on with her life.

In the two years since, Eenia had focused on her training. She poured herself into her lessons and even spent more time outside of classes practicing as well. She took her tutoring seriously and it had paid off for the most part. Nia was still by no means the warrior her older sister was. No, her strengths had most definitely remained with her connection to the Force - however, she could at least duel now and had promise to survive.

The blonde made her way to the training room, just slightly early as she always was. When the doors opened, she wasn't surprised to find Master Dragonsflame in his usual place and position, and so she walked her way across the room so that she could stand in front of him. Nia took her stance, placing her hands behind her back as she watched and awaited first instructions for the lesson.

She was strong. Stronger than he could have expected and he was proud of Eenia for it. Finding out her parents had passed as well made him feel for her, and he couldn't blame her for the path she had taken for a time. But she had been able to overcome it. And that was something he respected. Overcoming struggles, obstacles... It was all part of being a Jedi. And she was getting there swimmingly. She had turned into a strong study, overcoming her demons to truly reach the potential he had seen in her. She studied hard, trained hard and had steadily begun to grow up the way he had imagined was always possible with her. And he couldn't help but be happy to be the one to encourage that, encourage her to keep going, keep moving forward... For he knew she would reach that mountaintop eventually.

He could hear her footsteps, sense her arrival. She was early, he noted. In a far more casual fashion than he used to, he would lean back, coiling in his legs before springing to his feet. It showed comfort with the Padawan before him, with a bit less strictness to his movements, less trying to keep an impression. It was as it always was with his Padawans, he always opened up over time. He smiled toward Eenia, bowing his head gently before beginning.

"I was hoping today we could go over things a bit" Josh would offer. "Start with some basics, make sure that you've got everything you need and focus on refining something if you need it. If you're all good, well... I'll think of something" He remarked, shooting a cheeky grin. "Is that amenable to you? You're free to make requests at this point if there's something you'd like to learn in particular as well, I'm sure we can make the time."

Its not like it had been easy for the blonde Vahn sister to be strong. She had struggled and fought to get to this point, but she had done it. Eenia had stepped out from Anora's shadow and had become her own person most definitely. The circumstances had been unfortunate, but it is what it is.

When her Master got to his feet, Nia ducked her head and smirked just a little in amusement. It didn't take her long to recompose herself - though she knew she didn't have to be stoney faced serious. When he greeted her, she nodded her head with a 'Master' in reply before shifting her stance so that she could fold her arms across her chest instead of behind her back. He wanted to recap? Well, that wasn't something Eenia was against by any means. It kept her sharp, kept her well practiced, and what was ever wrong with that?

"I can't think of anything to request at the moment." she informed him with a shake of the head. They had been doing a fairly good job at hitting all of the places she had needed the work over the last two years. "But if that changes, I'll of course speak up." Not like she was shy in that department.

"Of course. We'll just hit the beats and see where it goes. If there's an area that needs improvement, we'll hit it. If you think of something, well... Feel free, obviously" He spoke with a gentle nod before he would begin fiddling with the terminal nearby. With that, he would begin to set up the holographic exercise programs at the terminal nearby. Large boxes would appear in the room, and Josh would immediately turn and hold out his hand, focusing as a force of energy would send the boxes flying across the room and into the wall, disappearing on impact before re-appearing in the centre of the room.

"You know this one, probably. Force Push. Hit it hard as you can, let's see your progress. If you can, Force Pull afterword and bring it back. Once you're done, use your telekinesis to re-assemble the boxes back to where they were."

He was sure she'd have no problem, but if she did, it would be a good place to start.
