Private To Be Warlock

The Elder stepped through the halls of Kheedar's former kingdom. The castle, the keep, had been repurposed by those who survived the purge. His people had taken freedom for themselves, but they already knew that this freedom wasn't real. The galaxy was unforgiving. They were going to have to fight. To destroy that which demanded they serve. At some point many of them were human, but now their forms twisted. Some were more monstrous, bulky and demonic. Others kept their human forms but still had traces of the Nether changing parts of their bodies.

They were gathering. Searching for more information. The king had been a hoarder of knowledge, desiring the same thing so many here did. Dominion over the Force. The ability to utilize it for their own. To fight against the Force Users of the galaxy. Deals had been their first steps, but there was still more they could find. Still more they could utilize. The Elder paused, glancing over the shoulder of one of the monstrous folk. An old holoarchive, listing a list of artifacts that were said to be able to replicate the Force.

"Now that is interesting. We will have to explore that, won't we?"

The figure turned their head and bowed. They had lost their ability to speak through their mutations, but they had not lost their mind. Ever the scientist. Replication would be the ultimate goal. The more they could create, the more they could empower. The more who would be willing to fight.

"See what you can find on any traces. Inform me when you do, we will go on a hunt then."

The Hunger Cometh

They seemed to be transfixed upon the holocron, all monstrocities, hardly even human in both their nature and their appearance, but where they were but touched by the nether, He was drenched in the void. Where they had but glimpsed at the endless darkness of what lay beyond the veils of reality, the shadow slowly closing in on the kingdom of Kheedar had reshapen itself, He had survived, He had thrived and he had overcome.

The ripple in the air arrived silently, as a creaking sound began to manifest itself, pressure began to build up, a cold swept across the place. Green lightning began to form within the room, a streak of lightning started to swirl and consume itself, expelling a black miasma which swallowed up more of the green lightning, until a large vortex of green energy and black smog seemed to rip the very air itself apart.

"Such curiosity, but no ingenuity to go with it," From the vortex, a skeletal hand, thin and long, with nails sharp as talons, skin as stretched as aged leather revealing itself, reachin outwards as if to pull what came behind it into the room. Vibrant crimson and golden irises surrounding an unnaturally slit pupil revealed themselves from the darkness, before finally the face of decay revealed itself. Sunken, hollow eyes, skin so tight and shrivelled it appeared as though it might crack open at any given time.

The cold intensified, a feeling of unmistakable dread gnawing in the back of each living creature's mind, before being followed by an immediate lethargy, a feeling of weakness and feebleness. The old, shrivelled man who walked out of the vortex, looked like both a hollowed monster, a wraith from the void, yet dressed in fineries and with an air surrounding them which could not be mistaken. If the king and his people were the lowest dredges among the nethertouched, this being was even beyond what even they could comprehend. "Replicating the force... you utter fools, do you truly think worms such as yourself are even remotely capable of such actions?"

m77Avzv.png

Fear. Animalistic in nature, a basic urge that all living things felt, overcame all within the archives. The Nether had only turned their senses up. They weren't able to use the Force, not completely, but they could sense danger. A being of the void had come. As the lightning rippled out, all eyes turned to watch.

All heads lowered as the figure emerge. Not a voice spoke, not a set of eyes lifted. Only the Elder remained still, remained smiling as he watched the appearance of another touched by the Void. One that had entered and left. One that had found a way out that so many of Hatred's kin longed for. "Even worms can devour the bodies of gods. Any edge they can get can tip that balance."

He lowered his head then, a respectful bow. A hand, old and calloused from decades of working in the mines, settled on the monstrous scientist's shoulder. To ease them, remind them to breath. An empty, hollow gesture from Hatred's point of view, but loyalty was ever important.

"To what do we owe this honor? Has our cleanse of this world caught your eye?"

The Hunger Cometh
"Heh...well said," The Lord of Hunger's eyes seemed to shine brighter, wisps of gold and crimson seemingly, temporarily dancing in the air. His voice was raspy and hollow, yet at the same time dark and deep, allowing for an otherworldly, an unnatural strength within each word passing the shrivelled and retracted lips. "Those who seek knowledge, those who seek to grow beyond the limitations imposed upon them unfairly by biology, life...or the Force itself... those who wish to evolve into something new, they all have my attention."

Slowly lowering himself from the vortex of energy, his robes gently touching the floor of the room, the monstrous being at first seemed to be rather small, yet slowly the being straightened its back, retaining its full height and stature. "But to gain power, to gain insight and knowledge... requires dedication, devotion...and sacrifice."

Underneath the stretched and leathery skin, something began to wriggle, as if something was alive and awakening within the being, especially when he uttered the word 'sacrifice', for it was then that like a sinister collection of snakes, black, oily tendrils began to emerge from the wide open sleeves of the abomination's robes.

"Cleansing is one thing...selection is...another entirely," The hard expression on the Lord of Hunger's face intensified, his eyes widening, his lips slowly curling upwards. "There will be those who survive, there will be those necessary to die, but it is all so that the strong may survive and the weak can fulfill their duty as to become the foundation for a new order to thrive."

It was chilling for the group around. They had sacrificed their very bodies, their very morals, for the power they had gained. Yet as they listened to this stranger, this unfamiliar being that spoke of sacrifice, of an even greater need to give everything, none could respond. Fear. They were still people at their core, still those who had been shackled all their lives.

The scientist was the first to move. They lifted their head, faced that fear head on. Admirable, perhaps.

For the Elder, his smile hadn't changed. "To destroy everything one must be willing to give the same." At his words more stepped forward, but there were those who didn't. He turned his gaze towards them, watching each and every who hesitated at the precipice. He said nothing, not yet, but he looked back towards the husk of a figure. A being that offered more power.

"What must be done?"

The Hunger Cometh
"That which must be done... is to be graced by the Void," As most, if not all of those present had already been touched by the Nether, this was easy. However, as he said those words, the writhing, black tendrils coming from his sleeves began to shudder and grow larger, thicker and more threatening as they began to dance and weave around. "A feat you have luckily already achieved..."

Suddenly the tendrils began to jut out violently, piercing into a handful of people's chests, heads and guts with rapid strikes. As they pierced them, all of them began to shrivel, their screams leaving their lungs in the form of a final gasp, their skin shredding itself, their organs turning to mush, while their bones cracked and snapped to dust. The tendrils simply retreated, as the man or more precisely the husk of a man began to bulk up, his hair regaining color, his hands, arms, neck, all beginning to swell and harden with tough and defined musculature. Even his clothes, with a snap of his fingers, began to shift their shape.

"Their sacrifice has become my nourishment... yet still there are those who may reach the next step," As his form stabilized, The Lord of Hunger reached out with his hand, the wriggling under his skin, underneath the fabric of his gloves and clothes already made it painfully clear what was going to happen. "Those who survive this ordeal...will either become unstoppable machines of hunger and power, or conduits to my will. Rejoice... for if you are lucky... you may have come closer to your gods. If you are not lucky... you simply become part of me."

m77Avzv.png

Those who had felt fear, those who had hesitated, they perished first. Hatred glanced between each of those who fell, who turned to dust. His smile never changed, his expression never shifted. He was far too removed from his humanity to change how he acted. This is what it meant to be a Warlock. To dive into the unknown for power, to accept the risk that they would turn to naught but dust if they caught the attention of something beyond them.

It was the monstrous scientist that stepped forward first. There was no room for hesitation now. No reason to back away. The Elder watched and awaited the change that would occur.

"No cost too great. We accept whatever you deem us worthy enough to be offered."

The Hunger Cometh
"No cost too great. We accept whatever you deem us worthy enough to be offered."

"Such good words," The abomination within the force smiled wickedly, when his tendrils this time not just jabbed a few, but effectively all of those present, aside from the man who stood next to the scientist. There was something off about him, something which intrigued the Lord of Hunger enough to have a desire to know this one a bit better. In his eyes Hatred Hatred was already something beyond the others.

Those who were truly unworthy, truly not fit for evolution, would simply once again be absorbed by the monstrous being's very self, leaving nought but worthless husks. Some would become utter monsters, with bones creaking and reshaping, this process would sadly also take many lives, for it was a pain beyond the imagination of most, yet those who would survive would fall into three categories... the standard Mobius Tyrannicus; wild and feral beasts with extremely high physical capacity and a modicum of strength within the force, if only with rudimentary and more raw, instinctual usage thereof due to the reduction of mental capacities. Extremely rare would be the Mobius Tyrannicus with mental capacities of their original self, allowing for a better comprehension and use of the very force they could now tap into.

The third category they could fall into, would be a hit or miss; as those who did not possess even just the potential to become force sensitive, would simply become conduits, they would in fact change wholly back into their human self, becoming dormant carriers of the Blackwing strain type 71, but a rare few would find themselves with white hair and red eyes, fully capable of utilizing the force in a limited capacity, but thanks to their bonding with the virus, it would be a perfectly controllable sensation. However, the dead...the sacrifices would most certainly outnumber the ones who'd actually reach the end of the evolution, as with each step... clinging on to life would become much harder.

"A feast for me today...a welcome gift for you in the morrow," The Lord of Hunger chuckled as he looked upon those still fighting to survive the very tearing of muscle, the strange new pathways for their synapses, the crunching, creaking, snapping and cracking of bone. "Let's see who has the strength to see it all through till the end and who has the will to reach the very pinnacle of their evolution."

m77Avzv.png

Agony. It brought it's own form of hate, for the pain, for the one inflicting it, for simply having to be alive and suffer through it. The halls of the nethertouched were abound with screams. Screams that turned to cries, to whimpers, and finally to silence. Hatred's expression throughout never changed, never shifted from the smile he had. The gift he had given them, the touch of the void that had muted them into what they were, it wasn't enough to give them dominion over the Force.

This would. Even a few would be fine.

The mutations were violent. His eyes closed with each death, as the Elder housed within paused in remembrance for the fallen. His passenger had no such attachments, no such care. Hatred's only focus was on those who did survive. Most of the survivors stood, mutated into a twisted figure. Mindless. A shame, but they would have their uses. Those that kept their minds were going to be that much more useful.

It was the muted scientist that had Hatred's attention. Or the Elder within, perhaps. Either way, he reached out, holding his shoulder for a moment. Very few lost their mutations completely. Returned back to being the humans they were before their initial dealings with the Netherworld. The scientist was the only to fully embrace the gift.

A pale woman, with white hair. Red eyes.

"It seems only one could reach the end of this particular path." Hatred's hand fell away as his hands folded over his chest. He bowed to the Lord.

"This gift will not be squandered."

The Hunger Cometh
With Keen interest, the Lord of Hunger observed how the injection of his own mutated BW-71 strain of the Blackwing Virus would affect those who had been Nethertouched. While it had essentially allowed him to become something far beyond normal humanity, he knew the risks involved and the danger it posed to those who did not have the force to mitigate the pain, the damage and the utter despair the deep, cellullar reconstruction wrought upon others. Yet when finally, the screams died down, with those who had not managed to withstand the pain having been rightfully absorbed as nutrients for the semi-sentient parasite and thus the Lord of Hunger himself, those who did manage to survive and withstand the pain were a rather colorful mix of the many stages in which one could find themselves after the procedure.

"She will be my voice, a Speaker as much as she is a Child of C," the man calmly walked towards the scientist, his gloved hand gently touching her chin with his fingertips, lightly tilting the scientist's chin upwards as he looked upon Hatred Hatred . "Your ambition is like an all-consuming void in a galaxy littered with bright lights of desire. Though, be wary... you are not the only all-consuming void within these regions, there are many monsters casting mighty shadows."

With his eyes glancing back towards the Holocron which they had been all so keen on unlocking, so delirious about, the Lord of Hunger's lips curled into a rather twisted, devious grin. "You now have the means to unlock the holocron, you have the muscle to set forth your campaign...and I have a means to be on your side whenever you deem it necessary for my will and my knowledge to be present."

Suddenly clapping his hands together, a chuckle escaped the abomination within the force's lips, a deep, somewhat dreadful sound coming from within the man's throat. "I see...I see... perhaps you need to visit me at The Redoubt... it would most certainly be a very interesting way to get more... comfortable with the true scope of the Nether."

m77Avzv.png

"For all the freedom I host, I've none of my own within the Nether. Perhaps you can show us quite a bit for it." He gently reached out, taking up the holocron into his hands. He smiled the same smile as ever. Unlocking this would certainly be a good step in the direction he had in mind. It was their goal, though how many were left to continue it was up in the air.

"Where is this Redoubt?"

The Hunger Cometh

"Freedom is nothing but an illusion to those who have not seen the truth," The Lord of Hunger's retort was calm, collected and possibly wholly unexpected. Ofcourse all had their own opinion on what this 'truth' truly was. Yet, for all his life, now even moreso than ever before, the abomination within the force, the C who stood before his children, the Rejuvinated and the Returned felt his opinion, his life's goal to be the only true path. "To find the truth one must evolve, to experience the truth, one must ascend... to become the truth, one must never stop evolving, never stop ascending, never stop breaking the very limits of existence, time and time again."

He was a human once, a gifted one, but still a human...now he was already beyond the limitations of humanity, beyond the restrictions of mortality, with each evolution, He began to leave the domain of his former self and reached for the things only gods could aspire to reach. Pain, suffering, hatred, anguish, as long as these things served the hunger, the desire, the will... they would all end up on the same path this veritable monster amongst men had taken.

"Trinkets such as that do not give power, nor does it grant your wish..." Reaching out gently towards the scientist whose white hair and red eyes signified their true capabilities, the Lord of Hunger smiled, turning his attention back towards Hatred Hatred . "A whispering wasteland, a world trapped in limbo, swallowed up by the spatial hyperlane shift... the place where I am who I am, where I became what I must evolve into... the place where I will ascend further...The Redoubt is darkness to most, but a light to myself and those who desire not perfection, but limitlessness."
