To Awaken a Relic and Uncover a Past

"Don't thank me yet" Kyra said, worried that he still might not make it off her ship alive. "Screw, get us to the nearest inhabited planet and fast." She was no Doctor, nor could she pretend to be, everything she had been doing was purely from the diagnosis of her medical droid. She brought him in a datapad, hooked up to the holo-net, and set it onto the sidetable.

"This might help your disorientation" she said after a few moments, "I don't know how long you were on that ship, but times have changed a lot in recent years. I'm Kyra, by the way, and this is the 'Bucket." She tapped the durasteel wall of her ship, before tilting her head to one side and regarding the man curiously. "What's your name?" She'd have to gather some information before they reached the medi-center, and find out if he had any medical aversions or allergies. His health and wellbeing would be her responsibility for now.

Rafeesh listened, looking to the datapad as she placed it on the side table. He wondered what time this was. He wondered what was in the HoloNet, that had not been there when he had last been awake. The question of his name took a moment to answer. There was so much to think about that he had almost forgotten his own name in the chaos of his mind.

"Rafeesh. Rafeesh is my name. Thank you Kyra. Where are we?" He felt weary, but his strength seemed to be returning. He was now curious, many questions now that his mind began clearing. He was unsure of where he was, he was unsure of what had happened while he slept, most definitely that had not been the ship he had been taken to when first put under stasis. He had toured that ship with his master before. Either time had been unkind to it, or he had been moved. Where was his master? Certainly the Sith would be near to command his awoken subject.

She gave a nod when he told her his name. "Rafeesh, pleasure to meet you in one piece. Now rest up, we're currently in the Outer Rim, en route for..." She paused, trying to comprehend where the closest planet was, "Skye, I think. Once you've been seen to be a real Doctor and you're able to leave I'll take you anywhere in the Galaxy you need to go. For now, rest."

Smiling, she patted his shoulder before turning to leave.

During her venture back to her cockpit, Kyra couldn't help but frown in thought. Just how long had the poor man been stuck in stasis for?

It wasn't too long before the ship came out of hyperspace in orbit around Skye, as predicted. Seemed Kyra remembered more of space than she thought! Assuming control of the ship herself she directed the vessel down through the world's atmosphere, headed straight for the closest City. As she neared it she sent out a feed to the local hospital, requesting assistance when they landed.

Now all there was to do was to check up on Rafeesh and get off the 'Bucket.

Rafeesh told himself to rest, let the questions be asked when they may be asked. Until then, he would have to wait. He could feel the weakness of his body, it needed time to heal, if it would. He remembered being told before being put in, the words not the person who spoke them, that the stasis technology was experimental. He had not really had a choice of when he would be put into stasis, his master's orders were final and he could not have disobeyed. Thinking back he wondered what ship he had been on, what he recalled of its layout had not been normal in any way to that of vessels he had seen before. For that matter this vessel seemed strange, but then again it struck him as a smuggler or scavenger ship. He told himself to remember that when he got back to Imperial space to somehow repay this one. Maybe offer a new ship and credits. He had never worked with smugglers before, so he did not know what they liked.

-------------

When the ship came out of hyperspace he awoke from a slumber he did not realize he was in. He rubbed his eyes slowly, they ached along with almost all of the muscles in his body. It felt as if he had been sleeping on a rock in a tight space. He wondered if it were a side effect of the stasis, maybe a few weeks or months was too long. He was still wondering how long he had been in stasis. Perhaps his chamber had been moved to a new ship in the Imperials fleet? Or maybe his master had had him moved and he had been captured by the Republic. But why would he have remained in stasis then? Would it not have been easier to be pulled out and move an empty container? It was a frustrating question that he could not answer.

He felt the landing of the craft, when at last it seemed to settle he sat up and moved to stand. When he tried to bring himself to stand he found that his legs were still weak and the added aching did not help. He decided that he would need to stretch things out once he had been seen to. He had never heard of Skye before and he absently wondered if it a Sith planet. It was in the Outer Rim, perhaps on the far side from where the Sith Empire was?

--------

The planet's medical system responded with normal measures. An emergency vehicle was waiting and paramedics were moving with a small grav sled. They were more prepared for some sort of emergency, such as blaster wounds or injuries sustained from maintaining a ship.

The more experienced of the two, by only a few hours, was the one who took the front of the sled and he walked up the loading ramp. He noticed what he assumed was the ship's pilot and asked her, "Where is the patient mam'? Do you have any idea what the problem is?"

[Did we just finish a 2 year old thread?! :O Magical!]

Kyra was glad to see [member="Rafeesh"] in the safe hands of the EMT when they landed on world. Skye wasn't exactly known for its medical expertise, but it wasn't a backwater planet either. Under the reign of some Lord it had flourished quite nicely, and being part of the Fringe (RIP) had its privileges.

Keeping to her word, Kyra did not just jet off away from the medical center the moment her passenger was taken into the hospital. Instead she stuck around. What kind of Captain allowed something to happen to their passengers, after all? She knew barely anything about this man, and he seemed to remember just as little. She didn't want to see any harm come to him. That wouldn't be right.

Before he was jetted off, however, Kyra had to quickly update the team on what had happened. Well, how did you tell that story in as few words as possible?

"Slight delirium" she began by saying, "and carbonite poisoning; I found him adrift in an archaic vessel, Force knows how long he'd been in suspended animation."

The medical team nodded their heads and were quick to get him en route to the hospital. Kyra had given them a way to contact her, and for now she sat within her ship waiting. She was no kin to the man, joining him wouldn't have been very prudent.

The emergency team were somewhat skeptical, but they decided to take the information at face value. That was one of the many things they had not learned about, carbonite poisoning, since few were foolish enough to put themselves into a stasis meant for long term transportation of perishables. They wondered if it was perhaps just some misunderstanding on the part of the pilot, they had seem a few people misdiagnose injuries. That was why they were trained to make quick diagnosis and take care of the basic needs.

They moved quickly, as emergencies normally required. They secured Rafeesh on their grav sled before taking him to the speeder for the relatively short ride to the hospital. Both of them were quite surprised at the readings the scanners gave to them. The pilot seemed to have been correct. They decided to just try and stabilize him as best they could given the supplies they had at hand.

It was only three hours before all was done at the hospital. The doctors had been equally surprised, though much quicker to get to work. At least two of the doctors had some form of training in dealing with carbonite related injuries. Most of the things they dealt with were people who had been exposed to unrefined or non-specialized carbonite. This was different, and they knew that pretty quickly. the doctors did however have a pretty thorough compendium of medical information, part of which was carbonite poisoning. They were able to begin procedures while the medical droids worked alongside them. When it was all said in done they continued the work of the medical droid on [member="Kyra Sol"]'s ship, giving Rafeesh various injections of antibodies and vaccines to get his immune system up to where the standard person's was.

Rafeesh was given a set of prescriptions, which would maintain his immune system while it more properly adjusted. He was also told not to overwork his body for a few months, though most of the doctors assumed that the advice and the medicine would be forgotten or ditched before the offworlder got far. The emergency team took Rafeesh back to the ship, then moved on to another call.

Rafeesh walked up the ship ramp with a tired smile. He felt more worn out than he had after the battles of Rhen Var for the Jedi Order, but he had been weak then. After becoming a Sith he had become stronger and now here he was, where here was. Where were the Sith? Where was his master? He knew they had given him some painkillers which had left him more tired.

(It appears we did!)
