Strengths:
  • Destruction, In A Laser Pointer -
The "Rirtsa" is a weapon that focuses on beams and combined firepower, rather than various bolts of energized gas more conventional Turbolasers fire. This allows for far more power than regular turbo lasers, at the cost of flexibility in their use and aiming potential. This restricts the 'turbolaser' into a strictly broadside set up, an anti-capital ship emplacement meant for nothing more than 100m+ targets.

[*]Information Overload -
  • Although good at decimating armor as well, the area this truly shines is in taking down shields. Able to create persistent pressure on a shield, it can overload most traditional shields with relative ease, as most shields are designed to handle surges of energy instead of constant assault.

Weaknesses:
  • Gimbal Mounts? Really? -
Because of the weight of the weapon, it is mounted on a sturdy base that allows it to both hold a steady aim, and an accurate one. The downside of its reliability and precision is the slowness that comes with the gimbal mounts, that essentially force the entire thing to be too slow to keep up with exceptionally fast vessels. That, or too small. This restricts this turret to strictly large targets that could serve a threat to other capital ships in the fleet.

[*]Space Cooled Isn't Enough -
  • The heat generated by the proton beam cannon causes a serious overheating issue if fired for too long. Suffice to say, if pushed to its maximum the turret is able to shoot for a solid 30 seconds before failure. For every one second of firing, one second must be taken to cool off, meaning groups of turrets firing in 'lines' isn't unusual for the turret.

[*]One Cannon, One Fire Mode -
  • As said before, the weapon can not change a fire rate, it can not provide cover for the ship in question, and it can not take down fighters or bombers. It has the exclusive purpose of being used as a ship to ship turret meant to be more effective than the turbo laser, but less tactile or flexible.

DESCRIPTION

The TL-52 "Rirtsa" Proton Beam Cannon is a smaller version of more 'doomsday-esque' axial mounted proton beam cannons, with the express purpose of bringing its power on a far smaller fighting level. Effectively minitarized composite beams, each are able to lay waste to shields and armor with little hesitation. Its as simple as that.
