OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: Tiss'sharl League
  • Classification: Governing Body (Planetary)
  • Affiliation: Themselves | The Sith Empire (Suzerain)
  • Organization Symbol: A stylised palm frond, typically gold on a green background.
  • Description: As the highest governing body of the planetary government of Tiss'sharl, the League answers only to whichever interstellar state currently holds influence over the region, at the time of writing the Sith Empire. Chosen through skilful business and general skulduggery, its members are clever, opportunistic, and frequently ruthless - a solid foundation for governance, by Tiss'shar standards.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Tiss'sharl
  • Domain: Controls the planet of Tiss'sharl and any orbital/out-of-system facilities under its jurisdiction; the League's influence stems both from the usual bureaucratic hierarchy of a developed world and the fact that its members represent the planet's five most profitable companies. It generally holds a high degree of confidence from the population, if only because only the most cunningly conniving earn a seat.
  • Notable Assets: Various government facilities and institutions.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: The League is composed of a President, a Vice President, and a trio of League Councilors, each representing one of the planet's five most profitable companies. Extranational liaisons and local League Officers may be given right of attendance, but do not ordinarily have a vote; some of the latter are set to replace Councilors should they "tragically perish", however, leading to... some tension.
  • Membership: The League is made up of five individuals, each the representative of one of the five profitable businesses on Tiss'sharl. Some seats tend to remain stable over time, others shift with the times - it is rare for the companies to change outside the evaluation of profitability that takes place every five years, but individuals can be more changeable, whether through (in)voluntary abdication or outright assassination.
  • Climate: Cutthroat, sometimes literally; overt violence is rare, but the same cannot necessarily be said of threats, assassinations, and general skulduggery. Self-interest and corruption (of the subtle variety) is a fact of life, as is blackmail, coercion, and all manner of scheming.
  • Reputation: Ambiguous; has generally succeeded in keeping Tiss'sharl safely prosperous but is infamous for its selfishly individualistic nature.
  • Curios: N/A, though various ceremonial objects and attires may see use during, e.g., the inauguration of a new President or League Councilor.
  • Rules: Strongly opportunistic, a level of selfishness beyond that of most governing bodies is accepted within the League; members are still expected to act for the betterment of Tiss'sharl, however, if only to safeguard their own bottom lines. Overt violence is usually unacceptable but the risk of assassination is considered part of doing business, so long as the responsible party is subtle about it.
  • Goals: Ensure the continuing safety and prosperity of Tiss'sharl - and by extension their own business interests. Amass influence and wealth as individuals, whether through mutually beneficial agreements or double-dealing schemes.
MEMBERS
  • President Lai-Dan-Kai
    • Age: 55
    • Species: Tiss'shar
    • Role: President (Deceased)
    • Description: The elderly (by Tiss'shar standards) Lai-Dan-Kai very recently suffered a "tragic accident", putting an abrupt end to his long tenure as President of the League. Having lived through the Sith annexation of Tiss'shar and experienced firsthand how those that seek to betray them are treated, he was a "firm supporter of the Eternal Sith"; his death is an opportunity to those who oppose them.
  • Acting President Lor-Ti-Sak
    • Age: 39
    • Species: Tiss'shar
    • Role: Vice President, current Acting President
    • Description: The unscrupulous head of a faceless holdings company with interests in all manner of business on Tiss'sharl and abroad, the Acting President is expected to set a new, more opportunistic, direction for the League. Whether this means remaining a loyal (and by extension profitable) subject of the Sith or seeking greater fortunes elsewhere is anyone's guess.
  • Mr. Sirk-Din
    • Age: 44
    • Species: Tiss'shar
    • Role: League Councilor
    • Description: Officially, Sirk-Din came into his position as the local representative of FizzleCo, a soft drink manufacturer with a major presence on the world, through the usual conniving skulduggery; in actuality, he is a deep-cover Sith loyalist with a service record sporting field agent duty for the One Sith and SIFIA. He gained his position by blackmailing the company's local director.
  • Ms. Iozoe Davek
    • Age: 32
    • Species: Mirlaian
    • Role: League Councilor
    • Description: A recent addition to the League, Iozoe Davek heads the local division of an interstellar weapons company; her division has seen an increase in profits due to a contract manufacturing power packs for the Sith-Imperial Legion. Emigrating from Mirial due to the many troubles that have befallen it, she has gained an appreciation for military protection - preferably protection that buys her wares.
  • Ms. Shalik Gort
    • Age: 51
    • Species: Mon Calamari
    • Role: League Councilor
    • Description: A longstanding addition to the League, dating back to before the Sith claimed the planet, Shalik is a cool headed entrepreneur with a mind for credits. She often struggles with her place beneath the Sith Empire's rule, due to the many atrocities committed against her family's ancient home world, Mon Cala. Though she's no saint, a life free of the Crimson Shadow is certainly not out of the question.
  • Mr. Alexander Dulvin
    • Age: 62
    • Species: Human
    • Role: League Councilor
    • Description: A war profiteer through and through, Dulvin doesn't much care who employs him. If not for the exclusivity deals between the Kuat Drive Yards and the Galactic Alliance, he would happily turn a profit selling to any within the galaxy. Unfortunately, as a board member of the KDY, he's not permitted such luxuries. His time on Tiss'sharl has seen him ascend to one of the richest, and happiest, citizens upon the planet.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Opportunistic, double-dealing, and self-seeking. All words that could aptly describe the Tiss'sharl League and yet it has remained at the very apex of the world's social hierarchy since at least 1000 BBY, a testament to its ability to change with the times and put the common good first...

... when strictly necessary, at least. Long-term profit and the appeasement of potential revolutionaries are desirable to the clever businessbeing, after all, and few are cleverer or more ruthless than the Tiss'shar and those aliens able to compete with them within the boundaries of their culture.

Having alternated between independence, a degree of sovereignty, and subservience to an authoritarian state - notably the original Galactic Empire and recently the tenth Sith Empire - the League has proven time and time again its ability to come to heel when needed without necessarily giving any loyalty to its various suzerains or even its own people. Tradition may have its say, but the will of the League is often measured in cold credits.

Many thanks to Ryv Ryv for his help writing a submission both Factions involved can be happy with.
