The TIE Viper was created by Velran Kilran after being inspired by the Galactic Alliance X-Wings. He wanted a Starfighter that could match the X-Wing while bringing in much needed versatility to the Imperial Fleet. The idea behind the TIE Viper was to jump out of Hyperspace and ambush the enemy, using its speed to run rings around the enemy while also providing support in attacking Frigates or large Starships thanks to its shields and Ion Missiles. Velran even developed the Discord Missiles containing Buzz Droids to help disable Starfighters if all options failed. All in all, the TIE Viper while not great at anything, is well rounded since it can effectively respond to attacks.
