Strengths & Weaknesses:
To begin, the TIE/MN "Cutlass" Starfighter is armed with a balanced loadout the can address a variety of threats. For example, its ordnance is flexible to such a degree that missile types can be swapped mid-battle in a proper hangar. (+) Yet, it is to be noted that accuracy can be difficult in light of the vessel's main weapon. While spraying down an opponent is indeed a plausible offense, pin-pointing a single engine (for example) can prove difficult. (-) On another note, it is to be noted that the TIE/MN carries a price tag that is much higher than that of its cheaper predecessors. (-) However, its overall durability compared to said vessels makes it worth the price. (+)
Description:
How can a legion of Insects hope to defeat a Giant?
Surprisingly, a glance at a history book would point out that such a feat has already happened. Nearly a millenium ago, the Galaxy and her peoples knelt before an Empire supreme. Well, almost all her peoples. There were an overwhelming minority that banded together in hopes of returning freedom and democracy to their places of power. Against all odds did this "Alliance" face down the Empire...and against even greater odds did they succeed. So how, then, did insects defeat a Giant?
For starters, space superiority.
In the days of old, the Empire employed easily produced, cheap starfighters. While this could do for the most part, clashing with the legendary X-Wing and others would see such craft outclassed. Oftentimes, the modern era looks to the past for inspiration on ways to effect the present. As such, it is no surprise that some nations choose to follow the model set by the infamous Empire. However, Arakyd Industries has decided to step in a different direction.
With the goal of supporting the rising First Order in mind, the corporation devised a starfighter to fill the role of Space Superiority. To this end, the Twin Ion Engine/Main Starfighter was born as a stark contrast to the First Order's existing, primary starfighter. As the nation is not (yet) a Galaxy-spanning power, all efforts were placed into creating a ship that is, above all else, reliable. In light of this goal, the TIE/MN carries a noticeable price tag compared to its sibling, but proves its worth through its capabilities. Put simply, this vessel can fulfill the task of taming the most unruly battlefields. Very well.
