Intent: To develop a mass-producible drone capable of performing suicide bombing duty... and to serve as another training drone.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Seinar Fleet Systems(almost everything), Subach-Innes(droid brain)
Model: Drone Fighter
Affiliation: Sith Empire
Modularity: Yes(Ordinance Loads)
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Titanium
Description: The TIE Detonator was developed by Imperial R&D ostensibly for purposes as
a live-fire training drone, usable for advanced training alongside the Subach-made Fragmentor-class target drone. Armed with a single light laser cannon and optional shields, the Detonator has proven to work well with the Fragmentor, the former playing the role of "escort fighter" in coordination with the Fragmentor's role as "missile boat." While this allowed for dissemination of the new TIE drone throughout the Empire in the hundreds of thousands, the ship's real purpose was only to be revealed in the event of war.

With minor adjustments to maximize shield and engine power, the Detonator, thought to be named after its unshielded version's ability to explode easily, was exposed as a flying bomb. The odd structure near the rear of the craft, assumed to be a sensor bay or, more accurately, a cargo bay, was designed to carry a multitude of explosive types, the ship serving as a perfect replacement for the TIE Bomb experimental craft.

As a mass-produced bomb, however, the TIE Detonator has its weaknesses. With almost all its power dedicated to shields and engines, the Detonator has only a single light laser cannon, utilized from its time as a trainer, causing minimal damage to even the lightest enemy fighters. As well, while it carries impressive shields(with the strength of those of a heavy fighter), its hull is exceptionally weak, designed almost entirely to only withstand the stresses of its maneuverability. The shields being ray shields, any autocannon will prove to be exceptionally capable against them, as will any other predominantly projectile-based weapon. A final danger is the explosion that'll be produced when explosives-filled variants are detonated.
