STANDARD FEATURES
  • Standard solar panels
  • Electronics
  • life support
  • Standard components
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Unorthodox: Being a multirole craft designed with just that in mind, The design confuses enemies the first time they encounter it
  • Versatile: Having hot swappable components means the enemy never knows what is being thrown at them.
WEAKNESSES
  • Expensive: The TIE AXE still winds up expensive, despite the steps taken to offset it
  • Size: The TIE AXE's size leads it to have a squadron of 16. Due to needing a more space than a TIE Bomber for all the hot swappable things it needs it limits what other craft can be brought along in a carrier. (Takes two squadron spaces)
  • Swapping: The swapping comes with the downside of more wear and tear on the mechanisms that pull it off.
DESCRIPTION

Illithor had made an engine that could be hot swapped. Damaged in combat? limp it to the mechanics a few bolts and wires later the damaged one is out and a new one is in. This gave him and his R&D team some ideas. Those revolved around what else could they make hot swappable on a smaller ship. They began to do prototypes of various parts for use in the future. Taking TIE blueprints the team delved into how everything was interconnected. That's all the farther the team went for quite a while.

Ronhar Tane Ronhar Tane Announced that his Imperial remnant was looking for a new TIE design via a contest. Illithor saw this and jumped at the chance. The R&D team began to work on prototype designs, and take the dozen they made into a test gauntlet. The first round was maneuverability in space and atmosphere. It weeded out nearly half the designs as ineffective for the current time window to make work. Test round two was dog fighting against droid ships with minimal power weapons. To both test their performance under stresses and to test the swappable items ability to be swapped. Further trials weeded out more until one was left. All those tests lead to choosing the TIE AXE design as the finale winner to go into Mahporeem's contest.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The TIE AXE so named for its axehead profile received rigorous testing. The AXE standing for Armored Xenograft Experiment, the combining of different things. The biggest challenge was how to land and store the multirole fighter. The solution came in the form of laying down the upper solar panel onto the top of the swappable pod, and the lower below the cockpit. The team ran lightning rounds of testing to iron out the mount points for hot swappable armor panels, engines etc.

Using Aurine Werr Aurine Werr 's new material Flax Stahl SLCA the team was more confident that the fighter would be light and strong enough to perform well. Rigorous testing continues on the other test versions of the ship and the Prime prototype is sent to compete in the contest. cv bv
