OPERATION: INVASION OF BROSI
SUBJECT: AFTER-ACTION REPORT

PRE-LANDING ACTIONS
We deployed from the carrier by way of Stork and HAAT/i gunships, our initial orders being to secure and hold the Vantar-7 Hfredium refinery until relief by a dedicated Bulwark Legion. Inoculation protocols against the Candorian Blight were carried out en route, medics administering doses across the ranks before atmospheric entry. I made it clear that no exceptions were to be made, given that even the hermetic seals of our armor could not be trusted in prolonged engagement.
During descent, sensors picked up an unregistered power surge twenty kilometers east of the refinery. Given its unknown nature, I diverted my own bird and two others to investigate, leaving Lt. Colonel Horrigan in command of the primary force.
CONTACT
IMPERIAL FORCE PRESENT:
- 2X STORMTROOPER FIRETEAMS (50 troopers each)
- 1X INFANTRY EXO-SKELETON FIRETEAM (51 troopers)
- 3X GUNSHIPS
We disembarked, formed a defensive perimeter, and brought an E-Web emplacement online. At this point, contact reports began to flood in: a mass of hostile signatures approaching fast. I ordered Gunships 2-2 and 2-3 to circle around and prepare strafing lanes, while I ordered Gunship 2-1 to stay close behind to provide close-air support.
Through optics, I observed what can only be described as an army of the reanimated dead. During the conflict, I was unaware of the term describing the abominations; ISS documents suspect they were Jen'ari. Initially, there were hundreds, then the estimate climbed closer towards a thousand or more. Their movements were fast, but erratic; it could best be described as a frenzied tide rushing directly toward our position. I quickly ordered firing arcs and CryoBan grenades deployed to slow their charge. Within seconds, the field was lit with blaster fire and the maser cannon support from Gunship 2-1. The effect was immediate and devastating, but insufficient against their sheer numbers.
The situation escalated when a hostile combatant, a Sith enforcer wielding a sword, appeared from the sky and brought down Gunship 2-1 in a direct strike using the Force (lightning). It wreckage crashed a few dozen meters away from our perimeter, taking the crew with it. Almost immediately afterward, the horde shifted in behavior. What had been a mindless rush became coordinated and deliberate. Scanning the field, I identified a tall, hooded figure at the rear of the mass; it seemed to be directing their movements. Again, during the conflict, I was unaware of the term at the time, but I believe this, through reading ISS files, to be a Jen'koshū (a Dreadlord).
Recognizing the threat, I directed the E-Web team to pour fire into the Dreadlord's position while ordering the infantry to fall back toward a collapsed structure at our rear, in hopes of using it as a makeshift strongpoint. Exo-troopers were placed on the outer line to absorb attrition, allowing standard troopers in lighter carapace to withdraw with minimal exposure. I delegated field command of the infantry to the captain of the Exo-skeleton fireteam, while I alone advanced toward the downed gunship in pursuit of the hostile combatant. Concurrently, I coordinated Gunships 2-2 and 2-3 to strafe enemy-occupied buildings and provide direct overwatch to the infantry as they re-formed toward the fallen structure.
By this stage, casualties were beginning to mount up. One gunship destroyed outright, crew presumed KIA. Seven troopers were mauled to death by the horde, and fourteen were non-fatally wounded.
This engagement has demonstrated the Jen'ari threat to be more organized and adaptive than projected. The assumption of Brosi being "lightly defended" was a gross failure of intelligence.
Standard stormtrooper carapace was overmatched by the density of the horde, while the
heavier armor gifted by Governor Vantai proved significantly more resilient, though only a fraction of my force had access to it. CryoBan munitions were effective in slowing the horde but provided no lasting effect, and our limited number of support weapons left the line vulnerable once a withdrawal order was given, and our initial position had to be left behind.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
- INTELLIGENCE: The failure to identify the Jen'ari presence in advance represents a significant intelligence gap. ISS must re-examine its reconnaissance methodology when surveying systems suspected of Sith influence.
- REINFORCE DOCTRINE: The 144th Strike Legion, being under the command of a Commandant, means that it is a Demi-Legion or Half-Legion. These numbers proved insignificant during the entire operation. Lt. Col. Horrigan's main force managed to capture the refinery, but at the cost of a whole company's worth of troopers. As such, in the future, Strike Legions, like the 144th, should be reinforced to full legion strength along with heavy support assets.
- ARMOR UPGRADE: Stormtroopers in standard carapace were overmatched by sheer density of contact. Heavier suits (such as those gifted by Governor Vantai) offered superior survivability and should be more readily available in future conflicts.
- AREA-DENIAL ASENAL EXPANSION: CryoBan proved temporarily effective, but larger-scale weapons, such as flamers, cryogenic projectors, and chemical suppressants, are needed to break massed enemy momentum. While this style of doctrine may only be useful against the hordes of Jen'ari, the amount of these types of weapons in our arsenal is subpar and needs immediate attention.
