Description:
Thysak Industries is a self-made business created by Osilus Derith upon his chance discovery of a valuable cache of gemstones on Geonosis. The wealth of the discovery would have set the man up for life but his desires were not so easily sated, he wished for a legacy to impact on the galaxy. Using his newly found funds, Osilus purchased luxury property on Cloud City and made the groundwork for a technology manufacturer. However Osilus knew it would take more than simply throwing money at the company to make it work. To this end he hired a self-employed Neimodian, Ryne Hathu, with whom he'd built a personal rapport. Hathu quickly helped revolutionise Thysak and before long they'd built their first droid series. A home care droid specialising in maternity duties. A lavish advertising campaign paid for by Osilus' fortune and heavily featuring him and his newborn daughter, [member="Samka Derith"], paid off and Osilus would privately joke that he'd established himself by selling something nobody really needed. Thysak established its brand name as one of private family care and began producing its own line of personal speeders, ships and civilian walkers to add to its growing line of personal home care droids. Over the coming years it became a household name for the people of Cloud City. A company you can trust.
Behind the scenes however, all was not as it seemed. Osilus began several secret development projects with a much darker intent. The creation of combat droids, vehicles and ships based on their civilian counterparts was commissioned to be sold to the highest bidder and underground feelers sent out. Yet in the end it came to nought and nothing made it out of the prototype stages. The First Order took control of Bespin and with it Osilus and his wife vanished. Some said the man was 'disappeared' by the shadowy forces of the FOSB or the Order of Ren. Others suspect he feared the First Order and fled the planet, never to be heard of again. Whatever the reason, Thysak fell into the hands of Ryne Hathu who shut down the secret projects immediately. He had no moral qualms with them but they were simply too messy as far as he was concerned.
Rationale:
As above, the company is legally under the control of Ryne Hathu who inherited it after the disappearance of founder, Osilus Derith. It should fall to his daughter, [member="Samka Derith"], but the girl disappeared from public record several years before her father. Hathu has seen off multiple attempts to unseat him as CEO over the course of his relatively short tenure. Rivals have been brought off, intimidated, or in extreme cases, mysteriously died. In spite of this, the image of Thysak as a family friendly company remains unchanged and Hathu has successfully overseen expansion into other areas of First Order space by accommodating the authorities.
