Special Features:
A power cell contained within the handle provides power to the chain. Two separate power settings ensure that targets are stunned when intended, not simply killed by the massive electrical discharge.
Description:
In the days of old a shock whip was a fairly simple device. Most often a four meter bull whip of braided metal cords. The device delivered a jolt of electricity comparable to that of a stun baton, disruptive and painful yes, but only through continued exposure was the weapon deadly. Those days are gone.
The Thunder Chain is a devastating weapon created by DeathTech Incorporated specifically for the capture of living test subjects. This re-imagination of the shock whip has been designed with the strength and precision of a droid in mind. The main body of the weapon is composed of trimantium links. This length of chain ends in a nine inch (22.9 cm) spade shaped blade, also forge of trimantium. The grip is coated in a thin layer of rubber which is then wrapped in leather, insulating the user and providing a solid grip. The end of the grip opens allowing the replacement of expended energy cells.
The weapon is considerably longer than a traditional shock whip and made of much denser metal. This translates into a much heavier weapon and one that is considerably more durable.
No longer does this weapon cause a minor shock in which multiple strikes are often required to disable a target. Now the weapon is truly something splendid. On it's lowest setting the Thunder Chain delivers a devastating 950,000 volts of electricity in a single strike. Enough power to cause even the largest humanoids to convulse into a paralytic state, effectively stopping a target in a single stroke. From Humans to Wookies, this setting is almost assured to stop any bipedal creature.
Of course this massive flow of energy comes with it's own limitations. The shock whip of old could maintain it's electrical charge indefinitely, or at least until the power cell was dead. The Thunder Chain can not. Once activated, via the primer stud on the grib, the Thunder Chain delivers one jolt of energy. Afterwards there is a recycle period of ten seconds as the weapon readies it's next burst.
When the weapon is switched to it's highest setting, the already impressive shock is doubled to a terrifying 1,900,000 volts. This setting was introduced with the intention of disabling much larger creatures than a Wookie. Massive beasts, such as the Rancor, would be hard pressed to ignore this blast from the Thunder Chain.
The name "Thunder Chain" comes from this higher charge setting. While active, the electricity coursing through the trimantium links sparks and crackles noticeably. The charge causes a visible blue arc to form in each link. Furthermore as each arc jumps from link to link the pop it creates is easily compared to small caliber gun shots. A truly intimidating display.
