Three Reasons

Location: Alderaan

Arianna felt most at home here and felt that any meetings regarding Alderaan should clearly be held here. Let everyone see how much Alderaan was coming back, how much it meant to those that lived and worked here, and how much it could mean to anyone.

Arianna knew that [member="Jack Sparrow"] would like nothing more than to have Alderaan back within the Republic, she felt he would almost sell his mother to make it happen but then she wasn't sure he had not already done so.

Which left how she felt, and what she felt had been outlined to the Republic.

They seemed to want to change that, but Arianna was a stubborn woman and there were things she would not bend on, and she wasn't sure she was ready to bend to the Republic.

She needed an assurance that the Republic, she did not believe, could offer.

"Majesty, The Supreme Chancellor of the Republic is here" Arianna turned, "take him to the parlor I'll be there shortly" She did not intend to make him wait long but she would not be seen as waiting for him.

The Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic allowed himself to be escorted to the Queen of Alderaan's study. It was a stuffy, formal-looking place to Jack, a place meant to be seen in but not enjoyed. It smelled of time and old money, and Jack wondered how many other rooms existed within the place. A great many, he assumed.

Left on his own while he waited, Jack's gaze darted back and forth for a moment, then over to the door, which remained closed. He moved quietly over to a large desk, sat himself, and pulled on a drawer. It resisted, so he pulled harder, just to make sure it wasn't stuck, and confirmed it was locked. Shrugging, he walked back around and began picking things up at random, using a practiced eye to determine their relative value on the open market.

Arianna came into the room, "Do I need to have the guards search you before you leave Jack?" She smiled as she crossed the room her gaze not leaving Jack it was odd to walk into a room and see someone hefting items and eyeing them to see how much they were worth, or where they were made.

"How was your trip, and do you want something to drink?" She imagined he would like a drink but of what was more the question. She knew that he was also meeting with Alyesa trying to find the right mix to lure Alderaan back into the fold.

Arianna was wondering how those talks had progressed.

The finely-worked singing glass statuette toppled from Jack's fingers as the startled Chancellor reacted to the door opening. Eyes wide, the once-pirate dropped to the floor, arm extended, hands raised. As if in slow motion, the possibly priceless objet d'art dropped straight into his hands. Jack grasped the thing gently about the base and stood, sighing.

"Yes. Well. Good thing I was here, then," he said, trying to appear casual. "Fell of the shelf, it did." He placed the thing back where he had found it, then pushed it back an additional several inches. "S'perfect now. There." He held his hands up as he stepped away.

"Trip was fine, thanks," he replied, stepping away from the wall. "And a drink is always welcome. Whatever you're having, Your Hienie, unless it's water." He touched his throat. "Allergic," he confessed. "Wouldn't say no to a brandy, however." Jack bowed, apparently for no reason.

Jack clasped his hands behind his back. "So, Majesty. This must be a rather...what? Interesting time for you? Troubling? Joyous? I'm honestly at a loss here. I cannot for the life of me tell if you are happy to remain part of the Republic, or if recent events have left your chafing and prepared to take drastic action. I sincerely hope the former, since the latter will look bad on my permanent record." He smiled. "Truth, Majesty, I should like to do all that is within my admittedly tremendous amount of power to see you happy. What can I do to help? Perhaps an arranged marriage to your daughter Alyesa? Do they still do that sort of thing? I'd be game. She's got everything a Supreme Chancellor needs. Looks, money, power, determination, a keen mind, a clever wit, and quite possibly other redeeming benefits as well. Does she fish, by any chance? I know've a lovely lake on Kashyyyk."

"We are not part of the Republic Jack, we neutral away from the Republic. There are no Republic anything here on Alderaan." She smiled he was a rogue she knew it could tell just from how he acted, how a pirate could lead the Republic she didn't know.

But there it was, and so it would be.

"an arranged marriage to [member="Alyesa Organa"] , what would you bring to such a marriage? Title? Credits? Access to something of value?" Arianna nodded to the paiges to serve the drinks and fade away, it was their duty to be invisible.

"Maj, I'm the bloody Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. What better title can be conferred upon a man? Well. apart from King, I imagine. But titles, like prostit...like pro...fessional sporting franchises, can be purchased. Once my reign over my people is concluded, who's to say I won't buy myself a cozy kingship somewhere nice? As to the credits," Jack shrugged. "Where there's a will, and all of that. A better question would be: does the possibility pique your interest?"

Jack accepted the proferred drink and sipped deeply. "Very floral," he said politely, wrinkling his nose.

"You're in a position that requires you to be elected, that does not mean you will have it forever. " Arianna gave a small laugh, "What better title, depends on the man and his ambitions don't you think."

Arianna picked up a glass for herself, "it is floral some of the best Alderaan has to offer. And as for my interest, slightly I don't want Alyesa to have someone she'd have to support they'd have to have something if you're not Chancellor you're....a...um....privateer?"

She sipped her wine watching Jack.

"Pirate," corrected Jack, raising the index finger of his left hand. "Privateer if I'm hired on behalf of a government to raid, pillage, and plunder on their behalf. Makes it all legit, savvy?"

Looking around the room, Jack took another drink from the glass. "Clearly I'm not the sort who you'd choose to marry into such a well-established household," smirked the Supreme Chancellor. "More's the pity. We'd have beautiful children, your daughter and I. Or at least a lot of fun trying." He raised his glass in a salute to the queen. "So then, since this is clearly naught but small talk, let's table that discussion. As to the Republic's current negotiations with the royal family of Alderaan, I would direct you to Alyesa. I think things went quite well, and I would hope she would concur."

"Ahh yes Pirate." Surely he saw where she was going with this. " I don't know how your talks went seems right after she had them she disappeared, it is not the first time she has taken time away to collect her thoughts. So, until she reappears the jury is out so to speak on that talk"

She smiled at him, "Why is it so important to you that Alderaan remain active within the Republic Jack?" She was curious he so far was the only one showing interest, not that she minded for things were busy enough with rebuilding, House meetings, and the possible upcoming of a royal wedding.

Jack shrugged, polishing off the last of his drink. "Alderaan, since it's return from oblivion, has been considered by all a jewel in the crown of the Republic," he stated plainly. "As much as Kashyyyk, Chazwa, or Hok. When people think of the Republic, of the proper history of the Republic, they needs must look to Alderaan, and to what the Empire did to it long, long ago. Were it within my power, I would move the Republic capital here." He placed his glass on a nearby table. "The path I walk, my role as Supreme Chancellor, it allows me a certain breadth of vision. Regardless of what I was and will one day be again, my role today is to see that the Republic gains rather than loses. That I do the most good for the largest number of people. That...can I get a refill, Majesty? Thanks. That the Republic be seen as a unifying force, not one that fragments and divides."

[member="Arianna Organa"]

Arianna could not help but laugh, "Jack I would not want the Republic Capital here as you say Alderaan receives much attention as it is, adding that into the mix would only make things more complicated." She smiled contentedly, "Alderaan is happy at the moment we are nurturing our relationship with the Mandalorians, the Nobles are rebuilding their homes and personal forces."

Arianna understood Jack's need for the Republic to look like a unifying force, she signaled the page to refill Jack's glass,

"The problem is Jack all the history that the Republic already has, and I hear rumors that the company that created all those clones is still out there, who knows maybe they are creating another army, newer model, different instruction. I don't know. I have a hard time trusting the Republic it has been a well oiled machine of empty promises, Field Marshall [member="Isley Verd"] made a most compelling argument would you not say so?"

[member="Jack Sparrow"]

"What we've done is acknowledge the rights of clones as individuals," stated Jack, "rather than property. As to [member="Isley Verd"] and his empty promises, that's something you'd need to bring up with him, or, if it's something I should be aware of, give me specifics and details and I'll see if it's within my purview to address. And anyway, I'm not quite sure what your issue with him might be. Aren't you the one cultivating relationships with the Mandalorians? Isn't he the Alor of Clan Verd?"

[member="Arianna Organa"]

"Alor [member="Isley Verd"] and his clan will be contributing to building a college on Alderaan you have said if in your control you'd put the capital here. Now I understand why you say that I'm sure you understand why I'm against that, but which do you think Alderaan values more education, or a variation of occupation?"

Arianna laughed, "I have no issue with Isley Verd he is eloquent and well mannered, much like yourself. You talk about building bridges with Alderaan what bridge are you willing to build?" Her thoughts to herself Arianna asked if Mandalore, Clan Verd imparticular is willing to spend credits, materials and time to create something that is beneficial to Alderaan, and Mandalore what is the Republic willing to build?

What project would appeal to Alderaan and the Republic ? what would show Ari that they were serious about all they said?

[member="Jack Sparrow"]

"What does Alderaan need that she can't provide for herself?" asked Jack. "Mandalore is going to build you a college. You don't want to be indebted to the Republic, so I doubt you want our troops or wartime materiel, unless someone decides to attack. Opera house? Casino? Floating island castle? How about a theme park? Specifics would be helpful," he prodded.
