PERSONAL FLIGHT LOG – Entry #
Location: – Eshan
Assigned Craft: Well, I flew my X-Wing
Astromech Partner: BRED (BB-30)
Current Mood: Interested, but a little nervous.
Background Noise: I can’t hear anything over the spherical Diva.

Okay, that was cool. The problem is, I lost half of what she was talking about as I was paying attention to the spectacle of it. She was summoning light, and almost glowing in the manner that the girl… what was her name… Zaiya Ceti Zaiya Ceti does. Only she isn’t doing it naturally like Zaiya is…

… still crazy cool.

Alright. I wasn't going to ask her to repeat anything and look stupid. I mean, I did get something out of it. I mean, one thing that Connel taught me was something Uncle Caltin taught him.

The Force is always talking to you, you just have to learn how to listen.

So I was going to try it like most other things he taught me. Alright… clear the mind… think of what it looked like, what the Echani was doing, and how I would look like that. Suddenly I could feel the Force building in my chest and in my arms. It was almost like I was actually getting it… and on the first try!

Then humility reared her smug head.

My hand was glowing… that’s it. Well, it’s a start at least.

“Awooo.” [Translation: Wow… A Jedi Flashlight!]

Well, I guess the Diva is back… at least what he said this time was laugh worthy.

– Michael A.
Flashlight of the Force? Naw…

Zaiya closed her eyes, letting her breath deepen the way Everest Vale Everest Vale had guided. The warmth of the hall surrounded her, yet before she even began, her skin stirred with its own quiet language. A soft rosy golden glow bled across her body, the edges of her mottled spots catching light as they shimmered. Ripples of gentle blue, affectionate red, and the faintest peach blush pulsed through her like the slow dance of a tide.

Aris.

The thought curled in her chest, the Lovalla Padawan's lips curving into a smile she couldn't quite hide. Even without looking, she felt Aris Noble Aris Noble , the bond carried through the necklace she had made, the way his presence brushed against hers like a familiar chord. The glow across her body betrayed it, blooming out of her in hues of joy.

Okay, okay, focus. Zaiya told herself. She was here to learn. To practice.

She turned her focus inward, tuning into the lesson.

Do not push. Do not wrestle. Open. Zaiya repeated, letting the shadows of her mind stir without fighting them, acknowledging the doubts and the small fears, then let them drift like leaves caught in a current.

The glow within her veins brightened, radiant white threads racing down her arms that seemed to ignite along the pathways of her patterns, rushing in iridescence, as if she were Force Light incarnate.

Zaiya opened her eyes just as the light spilled outward, flickering from her fingertips in a shimmer that lit the air before her. It pulsed once, a steady heartbeat, then softened back into her hands.

Vess found a quiet place to sit, enough away from the others but still close enough to be seen and heard if needed. The stone she settled onto was cold, it was of little concern to her however as there was a goal to be achieved.

Her eyes closed halfway, her thoughts didn't quiet like they were supposed to. There was always movement there. A never ending stream of thoughts, and information. She didn't feel the Force like some did there was no song, no soft whisper. For her it was structure, vast systems in an unimaginably complex machine.

She lifted her hands, palms out, and tried.

Nothing happened.

No spark. No warmth. Failure was data.

What did Eve say?
Don't strain. Don't grasp.

She tried again.

If the Force was a system, then Light wasn't a power it was a process. Not a subroutine she could slice into or rewrite. Systems had rules. Boundaries, predictable structure. The Force didn't. It operated outside of everything she understood about logic or control.

She reframed it in her mind not as a power to wield, but a function to allow. Something that flowed through her like current through a circuit, if the path was open and clean. Vess exhaled, steady and quiet.

Then, she tried again.

No light came.

Her eyes opened, and narrowed slightly. Not failure, just data. A single flicker, a shift beneath the skin. She had felt something, however faint. A hum that wasn't there before. The Force was still new in this form. She'd been touching it for years without realizing, like muscle memory she never thought to question. But calling on it with intention, that was something else entirely.

She inhaled again, slower this time, and let her eyes fall shut. Just breathing. Still. Almost meditative. She understood the framework the intent, the process. What remained was the part that couldn't be diagrammed. Execution, trust.

Alana shifted slightly on the cushion, letting the softness mold around her. She couldn't see the radiance spilling from Eve's hands, couldn't watch the veins of light tracing down her arms, but she could feel it; a subtle warmth that pulsed in the air, brushing over her skin like a gentle tide. With every sentence Eve spoke seemed to vibrate in the room, filling the quiet corners with weight and intention, and Alana found herself holding her breath more than once.

Her fingers fumbled slightly over the cushion, tracing its pattern to ground herself. She hated the way awe had sneaked in, uninvited, tugging at her defenses. So she leaned into humor, even as her voice softened. "I'll just…trust that I saw it in my own way," She muttered, tilting her head as if that could make help her see anything; she managed to catch a few shifts around the lecturer. Least it was something. "Well, even if my eyes aren't doing the work, I… feel it."

She exhaled slowly, letting the tension ease from her shoulders. It's…beautiful She mused, her inner voice quieting. She tried to glimpse it, and much like trying to catch a waterfall in a bucket, it splashed against Alana's vision as she tried. Her fingers twined loosely in her lap, remembering the way the air had shifted when Eve let the Light flow.

Alana's mind wandered for a moment, thinking of every lesson she had stumbled through, every time she had doubted herself in the presence of power she couldn't control. And now, with Eve's words filling the hall, she felt… permission. Permission to let the quiet pulse of energy reach her, permission to open without fear. She could almost imagine it as a rhythm, a heartbeat in the air, and the thought made her chest ache with both wonder and humility.

Then, she forced herself back as the sensation began to mount, though it came softer now, less suffocating. Guess you'll have to be okay with me sitting here quietly, pretending I didn't nearly lose my composure, She thought, letting a small chuckle escape. Even if I did. Totally…under control.

Her hands rested finally, relaxed but alert, as she let Eve's instructions sink in. She couldn't see the Light as the others did, but she didn't need to. She could feel its direction, its promise, the way it waited for her to meet it halfway. And that was enough. For now, it was more than enough.

She'd just...join the after-school program to catch up.

Everest's steady voice echoed throughout the meditation halls, like water flowing over a stream bed. Her explanation of the Lightside of the Force was eye opening, something that was part of everyone but often hidden away by the hectic of life. And how, above all, everyone experienced it differently. For Jane, she didn't need to ponder on what it was like for her.

She knew instantly that it was the warmth in the song she could hear all around her. It was true that the melody belonged to the Living Force, and the song was about life itself. However, nestled among the chords was a brightness, strings of violins and flutes. It was one she found in Jedi all around her, as well as in those who had not yet been trained in the Force but were sensitive to it. And in herself. While those who sought destruction, the Darkside of the Force, sang a different song. Their melody was woven with war drums. Aggressive, harsh, and destructive.

The room began to sing as Everest demonstrated her ability, and other Jedi followed suit. Warmth swirled through the air like a warm blanket, embracing every Jedi and rebel sitting on the floor or resting in the back. And Jane was following along not long after.

Very quickly the half-Sephi realized that something about the instructions wouldn't come as easy; to let go. Something that seemed to be a theme lately. Since the accident that left her scarred and memoryless, the galaxy had turned black and white. Logical. You either do or don't. However, since joining the Hidden Path, her views have been challenged. For the galaxy was not black and white. Not everything could be considered logical.

And so, Jane's first attempt was unsuccessful. Her hands remained as dull as the darkest abyss below, with no light to be found.

Yet as stubborn as ever, she tried again. All she needed to do was let go. Flow like a river down the stream. Surrender herself to the melody. Trust in what she cannot feel or see, and allow it to guide her.

For a few seconds, nothing happened. No light, no glimmering. But she didn't give up; she tried as hard as she could to let go of everything and simply let her own Force sing. Then, just as she was about to give up, something happened. The smallest light shimmered beneath her scarred skin, travelling down to her finger tips like an aurora through her vines. But before it could manifest itself externally, it flickered away, as if a candle had been blown out.

Nevertheless, the girl was content. As the newest and youngest Jedi in the room, or at least one of them, she had managed to feel that warmth in her arms and allow it to flow down her hands. It was a start. And that was enough already.
