Thoughts on how I am doing on the board.

Hey, instead of doing a feedback on certain characters I figured that I would do an overall feedback. I was curious on getting some honest feedback and see where things can improve, what is going well with what I do on the board and what isn't going well with what I write.

So, please don't feel like you have to hold back. The only way to improve is to hear feedback and make the necessary steps to improve. At least, that is my personal opinion.

Here is some questions I want to ask, if there is feedback that you have that isn't in the questions below, please feel free to include that!

1. Do I OOC come across as someone open and friendly, someone you feel comfortable approaching for a conversation on threads and/or ideas?

2. Do my characters come across as believable people? Do they feel rounded out, thought out or can they sometimes feel one dimensional or inconsistent?

3. Is my writing style easy to read? Is it easy to work on posts in response to what I am writing or do you find replying to me a struggle? If it is a struggle, why?

4. What are things you enjoy about my characters and about the way I write posts?

5. What are things you aren't enjoying about my characters and about the way that I write?

6. Is there something you see you could see more of from me?

7. Is the way I am currently running Character of the Month something you like? What are your general thoughts on Character of the Month?

8. How do you feel Character of the Month could be improved or could be presented better?

9. Would you rather I stop doing it or that I not be the one organising it?

10. What are your thoughts on the Zinder events that I do?

11. Do the Zinder events interest you? Are they something you find enjoyable to see on Chaos?

12. Overall, what are your impressions on me and what do you wish to see either more of or less of from me in the future?

Thanks for any and all feedback on this. Sorry if this is a lot of questions or seems like I am just trying to get an ego boost. I just genuinely wanted some feedback, especially on ways that I could do things better and figured this would be a good way to get as much feedback as I can on that.

1. Do I OOC come across as someone open and friendly, someone you feel comfortable approaching for a conversation on threads and/or ideas?
Absolutely! Your always great to talk to and hang out with.

2. Do my characters come across as believable people? Do they feel rounded out, thought out or can they sometimes feel one dimensional or inconsistent?
I enjoy your characters! The most often one I see/hear of is Eira and I enjoy reading and seeing what you do with her, I’d say they are believable!

3. Is my writing style easy to read? Is it easy to work on posts in response to what I am writing or do you find replying to me a struggle? If it is a struggle, why?
I haven’t gotten the chance to write with you yet (We gotta change!) but your a good writer!

4. What are things you enjoy about my characters and about the way I write posts?
I love how you write Eira and portray her personality from what I’ve seen!

5. What are things you aren't enjoying about my characters and about the way that I write?
Honestly it’s something small for me that’s unrelated. I personally like divs and cool fonts, it’s nothing against how people post, its not quite something I don’t enjoy, I just think you could really make things pop with them more!

6. Is there something you see you could see more of from me?
Dive in! Take risks! Put yourself out there more! You’re a great writer don’t sell yourself short! Don’t be afraid to progress the story if you feel it’s time, sometimes I’ve seen people stay locked in points in their stories too long like acolyte etc.

7. Is the way I am currently running Character of the Month something you like? What are your general thoughts on Character of the Month?
I love how you do it, it’s simple and straightforward, just how it needs to be.

8. How do you feel Character of the Month could be improved or could be presented better?
You don’t need to overcomplicate things, i like it how it is!

9. Would you rather I stop doing it or that I not be the one organising it?
Keep going!
10. What are your thoughts on the Zinder events that I do?
I find them very funny, it’s good levity for the board I think!

11. Do the Zinder events interest you? Are they something you find enjoyable to see on Chaos?
Personally I enjoy reading them, it’s not something I would bring Praz into.

12. Overall, what are your impressions on me and what do you wish to see either more of or less of from me in the future?
Keep pushing forward man! Your stuff is very good! I think you’re doing just fine!

1. Do I OOC come across as someone open and friendly, someone you feel comfortable approaching for a conversation on threads and/or ideas?

- Since I have returned you have been nothing but friendly and open, honestly if I had an idea I would reach out.

2. Do my characters come across as believable people? Do they feel rounded out, thought out or can they sometimes feel one dimensional or inconsistent?

- 100% Believable.

3. Is my writing style easy to read? Is it easy to work on posts in response to what I am writing or do you find replying to me a struggle? If it is a struggle, why?

- Never had a problem reading your writing, you always strike a good balance in post length as well.

4. What are things you enjoy about my characters and about the way I write posts?

- Eira, for all the things Darth Virelia Darth Virelia might hate about her, is a goddamn stubborn Sith, which is something I enjoy. I like the way in which you connect other characters in many of your posts as well!

5. What are things you aren't enjoying about my characters and about the way that I write?

- I am div enjoyer like Praz before me, but you already know my big one criticism. I feel like allowing for some leeway in the ways your characters perceive other characters could open up more interesting a diverse options for you ahead, as they tend to all be a little too quick to judge. As a personality trait of the characters it's a neat thing, but I feel it more as an overall part of the writing rather than as a biproduct of the character itself.

6. Is there something you see you could see more of from me?

- I think Eira having an apprentice would be a very interesting dynamic. AKA write her more!

7. Is the way I am currently running Character of the Month something you like? What are your general thoughts on Character of the Month?

- One of the big things that gets the community together to celebrate the best of Chaos, I feel like it's a big reason you are such a positive influence on the site!

8. How do you feel Character of the Month could be improved or could be presented better?

- Give it a sexy div.

9. Would you rather I stop doing it or that I not be the one organising it?

- As Praz said, stop overthinking it, CotM is cool af.

10. What are your thoughts on the Zinder events that I do?

- Zinder had a major effect on Darth Virelia Darth Virelia so take that as you will. You created something that has massively impacted another writers character all for the better! Good job.

11. Do the Zinder events interest you? Are they something you find enjoyable to see on Chaos?

- Darth Virelia Darth Virelia needs to drop into another one at some point XD

12. Overall, what are your impressions on me and what do you wish to see either more of or less of from me in the future?

- Keep up the good work and keep writing. Honestly, I know it's a feedback post, but if you do feel right now that people want to see less of you, I think you have the wrong impression. Hell, we have had our problems but even I want to see more of you!

1. Do I OOC come across as someone open and friendly, someone you feel comfortable approaching for a conversation on threads and/or ideas?

You are probably among the nicest people on the board. You also do a lot for the community to try to keep people involved with both ooc things and IC events. So I would say you are very approachable.

2. Do my characters come across as believable people? Do they feel rounded out, thought out or can they sometimes feel one dimensional or inconsistent?

Of the Characters I know IC (written with) or have read.

Eira Dyn - Is by far one my favorite dark moody little scamps. She is a bad ass, I like the fact she can be so blunt sometimes and doesn't care to much if certain people don't like her. I have seen her show deeper emotions on rare occasions showing she uses her hard exterior as a mask to some degree. She seems well fleshed out and is far from one dimensional. I am always excited when I get to write with her and was glad to even have here in a couple of my threads.

Dreidi Xeraic - I have maybe been in one thread with this character long ago, but have been in a lot of threads where people talk about this character. I have read quite a bit with her though as I try to read most of the threads I can that deal with Witches. I find her very interesting even though I know most of characters would probably want to punch her in the nose for the Blasphemy she has spouted. (By that I mean most of my witches are evil not the good kind like Dreidi has a tendency to lean towards). I find it funny a few times she has referenced herself as a nightsister which are the evil variety of dathomir witch. I like that contrast though, I think it is part of what makes her compelling character.

Rhys Swynol - Never RPED with him but have been in many threads he hosted. Is he one dimensional - Yes from what I have seen. Is that Okay - Yes absolutely. He is fun and all about finding love or a hookup in Zinder land. He just seems like a fun character no need to change him.

3. Is my writing style easy to read? Is it easy to work on posts in response to what I am writing or do you find replying to me a struggle? If it is a struggle, why?

Your conversation style in posts is immaculate and is really easy to respond to. My only struggle with writing dialog with you is on my end.

Combat wise I don't really know I have never one on one fought you, only threw npc's at you in one thread and you seemed fine. It's hard for me to tell unless I have done one v one with someone to know for sure if it's a struggle or not.

Overall you are decently descriptive and your dialog skills are top notch giving people things to work with.

4. What are things you enjoy about my characters and about the way I write posts?

Eira is the main thing I have to go off of her bluntness at times. Her deceptive nature in that she acts so much like she doesn't care, but yet in some threads that breaks. She does show she does care about things and people even. That deep down she is just a broken person like all sith are. She has both a cruel streak and a kind one in her own way. I just think she is a well written character and that is all because of you.

Dreidi Xeraic I just find her duality of being jedi like and yet a nightsister witch so interesting just based off how I see witches.

5. What are things you aren't enjoying about my characters and about the way that I write?

Nothing i can think of.

6. Is there something you see you could see more of from me?

Only thing I can think of that I haven't noticed or may have missed is I would like see is Dreidi Xeraic deal more with the duality of the witches culture. Mainly that their is a dark and lighter aspect to it. But again that is just from my point of view on witches by no means do I think you need to I just think the struggle would be interesting.

7. Is the way I am currently running Character of the Month something you like? What are your general thoughts on Character of the Month?

I love it! I think it has had a good portion of older rpers and newer ones get promoted. It's a very lovely thing you are doing.

8. How do you feel Character of the Month could be improved or could be presented better?

My only suggestion it would be neat if maybe once a year staffers that rp can be put up for vote. Yet I can see where it might be problematic too. Maybe a separate staff rper one once a year.

9. Would you rather I stop doing it or that I not be the one organising it?

No, you do good work.

10. What are your thoughts on the Zinder events that I do?

I find the OOC of it just as fun as the IC stuff. It's great, and I like that you keep them descently spread out so it doesn't become overly saturated and stale.

11. Do the Zinder events interest you? Are they something you find enjoyable to see on Chaos?

The few I have participated in were extremely fun, humorous, and I always enjoy reading them when they pop up even if I am not involved for the IC drama. So I enjoy seeing them.

12. Overall, what are your impressions on me and what do you wish to see either more of or less of from me in the future?

You are a great person, and great community member. We should all be proud of you. I have nothing bad to say about you other then I disagree with some of your star wars takes we have chatted about but hey that's nerdom. Even when I disagree with your takes it's always been polite and respectful the way it should be. So overall that really isn't bad that is actually a good thing. It's hard to find criticism for you WELSH!

Maybe that your welsh? :p jk

I am always glad to see you around so don't make less of your face around here.

  • Yes - you're easily one of the nicest dudes on Chaos.
2. Do my characters come across as believable people? Do they feel rounded out, thought out or can they sometimes feel one dimensional or inconsistent?
  • I'm most familiar with Dreidi and she comes off as a believable, well-rounded, well-developed character.
3. Is my writing style easy to read? Is it easy to work on posts in response to what I am writing or do you find replying to me a struggle? If it is a struggle, why?
  • Your writing style is easy to read, flows well, and gives me plenty to work with when responding.
4. What are things you enjoy about my characters and about the way I write posts?
  • From what I've read, your posts are never "flat" with just actions - you always get a solid feel for what's motivating your character at any given moment and you do it well.
5. What are things you aren't enjoying about my characters and about the way that I write?
  • Not nearly enough Mandalorians.
6. Is there something you see you could see more of from me?
  • See above.
7. Is the way I am currently running Character of the Month something you like? What are your general thoughts on Character of the Month?
  • The fact that Character of the Month still exists is a joy to me. I like how you run it so far.
8. How do you feel Character of the Month could be improved or could be presented better?
  • Definitely think there could be more flair in the opening post each month, such as a dedicated header graphic and a refresh/fresh look for the reward bling. Something to really grab the eye at a glance.
9. Would you rather I stop doing it or that I not be the one organising it?
  • I've got no problems with you running it, keep on keeping on.
10. What are your thoughts on the Zinder events that I do?
  • A breath of fresh air and wildly fun to read/participate in.
11. Do the Zinder events interest you? Are they something you find enjoyable to see on Chaos?
  • Yes - If I'm not in one, best believe I'm reading tf out of it.
12. Overall, what are your impressions on me and what do you wish to see either more of or less of from me in the future?
  • Easily one of my favorite people on the board. Kind, smart, consistent, Welsh. Doesn't get any better than that!

1. Do I OOC come across as someone open and friendly, someone you feel comfortable approaching for a conversation on threads and/or ideas?

One thing I did enjoyed rping with Cedwyn, especially in the thread with Alexandros, was that he came across as very capable without feeling flat to me. I liked that he was dangerous and experienced, but the more interesting part was that he had restraint.

The moment where he realized Alex was young and chose to teach him instead of just ending the fight gave Cedwyn a lot more weight as a character. It made him feel like someone with a history, not just someone who was strong for the sake of being strong. I also liked the way he tried to guide Alex through the Force. There was a nice balance between sternness and care there, especially when Cedwyn admitted he had rushed the lesson and apologized for overwhelming him.

That is the kind of material I was excited by. It made Cedwyn feel like someone who could be a complicated mentor: flawed, experienced, protective, and still figuring out how to teach without simply repeating the harder parts of his own past. I think that is why I was disappointed when the dynamic did not continue more, because I did see real potential there.

I think this may come down to creative differences, pacing, or communication styles. For me personally, I tend to feel more comfortable with writing partners when there is clearer communication about interest, availability, and whether an idea is something both people want to keep developing.

2. Do my characters come across as believable people? Do they feel rounded out, thought out, or can they sometimes feel one-dimensional or inconsistent?

I do not think I have enough direct writing experience with your characters to give a fully fair or detailed answer here. From what little I have seen, I sometimes struggle to understand the connection between the character concepts and how those motivations appear in play.

That may simply be because I have not had enough time writing with them directly. I think seeing more of their inner reasoning, personal conflicts, or why they make certain choices could help me connect with them more clearly as characters.

3. Is my writing style easy to read? Is it easy to work on posts in response to what I am writing, or do you find replying to me a struggle? If it is a struggle, why?

In casual or social scenes, I think it can be easier to follow. In combat or sparring scenes, I sometimes find the writing harder to respond to because the actions can feel vague or difficult to measure.

For me, combat writing is easiest to engage with when actions have clear intent, clear limits, and enough room for the other writer to respond. When an action feels too open-ended or too difficult to counter, I struggle to know what a fair response should look like.

4. What are things you enjoy about my characters and about the way I write posts?

The initial motivations and concepts that introduced me to your characters were interesting. There were ideas there that made me curious about where the characters could go and what kind of development might happen with them.

5. What are things you aren’t enjoying about my characters and about the way that I write?

I think a lot of it comes down to personal taste and creative fit. Some of the current narratives and plots you are involved in do not strongly pull me in, but that does not mean they are bad. They may just not be the kind of stories I am most drawn to writing right now.

6. Is there something you could see more of from me?

I think more direct roleplay experience with your characters would help. It is hard for me to form a deeper opinion without more chances to write with them in scenes where their motivations, flaws, and choices have room to show.

7. Is the way I am currently running Character of the Month something you like? What are your general thoughts on Character of the Month?

I think Character of the Month is a good idea, and I can see the value in highlighting characters and encouraging people to notice each other’s writing.

8. How do you feel Character of the Month could be improved or presented better?

I do not have a perfect answer for this, but I think it could benefit from feeling more open across different groups of writers. Maybe clearer nomination visibility, more encouragement for lesser-known characters, or some way to highlight a wider range of writing circles could help.

9. Would you rather I stop doing it, or that I not be the one organizing it?

I do not feel strongly enough to say you should stop doing it or that you should not organize it. I think my concern is more about how broad and inclusive it feels, rather than who is running it.

10. What are your thoughts on the Zinder events that I do?

I think the Zinder events are a fun idea and give writers a reason to explore romantic plots, social scenes, and character dynamics that might not happen otherwise.

Personally, I have had a hard time finding a place in them because I primarily write a male character interested in other male characters, and that seems to have a smaller pool of interest on the site. The times I have tried have not really led to the kind of roleplay I was hoping for, but I believe that might be just bad luck on my end.

11. Do the Zinder events interest you? Are they something you find enjoyable to see on Chaos?

They do interest me, and I do think they add something fun to Chaos. I just have not personally had much success with them so far. I would probably enjoy them more if there were more opportunities that fit the kinds of dynamics I am looking for.

12. Overall, what are your impressions of me, and what do you wish to see either more of or less of from me in the future?

Overall, I think I would like to see more clear communication and more consistency between character concepts and how those characters come across in play. When I can understand a character’s motivation and see how their choices connect back to that, it is much easier for me to stay invested.

I also think clearer collaboration around thread interest, pacing, and expectations would help me feel more comfortable approaching you with ideas in the future.

p.s. Rhys Swynol Rhys Swynol is the best Zeltron I would put on a Zinder Calander

1. Do I OOC come across as someone open and friendly, someone you feel comfortable approaching for a conversation on threads and/or ideas?

I have never felt uncomfortable talking to you, or reaching out for ideas or threads, you're fairly easy to work with and talk to.

2. Do my characters come across as believable people? Do they feel rounded out, thought out or can they sometimes feel one dimensional or inconsistent?

You always add a quirk or flare to your character concepts, that makes them unique in some way. I would not say that they feel one dimensional or inconsistent.

3. Is my writing style easy to read? Is it easy to work on posts in response to what I am writing or do you find replying to me a struggle? If it is a struggle, why?

Your posts are not difficult to read, they always get across what I believe you are trying to convey.

However, sometimes I do think your characters over explain their position and beliefs, instead of just letting those things be - which seems like an OOC bleed to try and find understanding, so the character doesn't come across as unlikeable to that character and/or writer that you're interacting with.

For this, I'd just say to let your character stand on their beliefs and convictions, whatever those may be. They don't have to over explain themselves, just let their actions and whatever consequences (to the character or those around them) speak for them, instead.

4. What are things you enjoy about my characters and about the way I write posts?

I enjoy that they're always very unique, you put a good deal of thought into your concepts before putting them fully to paper. I also always have enjoyed the ways you try to incorporate Welsh into your naming conventions.

5. What are things you aren't enjoying about my characters and about the way that I write?

I can't really say anything in particular is striking me.

6. Is there something you see you could see more of from me?

Feel like I covered this above, but maybe to just add on - try to work a little more on show, don't tell, to help ground your characters even more in the world that they're experiencing. We all sometimes fall prey to having our characters just be floating heads that talk.

7. Is the way I am currently running Character of the Month something you like? What are your general thoughts on Character of the Month?

I think the way you're doing this has worked, and is just fine, no critiques!

8. How do you feel Character of the Month could be improved or could be presented better?

I think it's good as is!

9. Would you rather I stop doing it or that I not be the one organising it?

I don't think anyone else should be doing it, you've been running it for months and were the only person willing to pick it up, just to make sure members of the community felt like they had a moment in time to shine.

10. What are your thoughts on the Zinder events that I do?

I haven't participated, but I think they're a fun little event. Always seems like it gets a lot of community attention on the board.

11. Do the Zinder events interest you? Are they something you find enjoyable to see on Chaos?

They're not really something that I would be interested in engaging with, but that's kind of the point, no? It's not going to appeal to everyone, but it hits its target audience and they enjoy it, which is the most important thing.

12. Overall, what are your impressions on me and what do you wish to see either more of or less of from me in the future?

No serious critiques here, just keep growing and expanding your horizons. I think someone else mentioned something about not being afraid to take risks, and I think that was great advice. Engage in big moments for your characters, let them shine!
