Those Things In Your Head

[member="Spark Finn"]

"No it's alright." He didn't want to go all the way back, it was a long walk.

"I have long sleeved shirts in my bag." Munin told her. "Those will be okay while we're moving."

They were going to be sneaking anyway.

"And when we get back..." He trailed off and slowly slipped his arms around her, pulling her into a gentle embrace.

"We can get under those blankets again." A soft smile.

[member="Munin"]

She frowned but didn't argue. Mun was a grownup. #grownarseadult

She slipped into his embrace. Arms snuck around him. She could feel how cold he was getting just from standing on the steps before the cabin. "Let's get inside," voice trailed off because it probably wasn't much warmer. But he was, hopefully, about to fix it.

Slowly, she unwound from around him, but kept her hand in his. The door opened after she unlocked it and she lead him inside.

#stillcold #alittlebetter?

Pulling a blanket off behind the couch, she offered it to Mun.

Munin smiled. "In a bit."

He was cold, true, but having a blanket around him the entire time while he tried to fix a bunch of pipes inside of a fireplace...well that wouldn't work out very well. He shifted and pointed towards all the pieces on the floor, communicating that he wanted to fix the fireplace before anything.

"This won't take long." He told her. "I just have to cut the pipe and then replace it to bypass the valve."

That would normally be unsafe, but..."There's a shut off valve too, so It's not dangerous."

That was rather important to explain, lest Spark start to think that he was about to kill them both with a gas leak. He shifted slightly and sat himself down on the floor and began to fiddle with the pipes that he'd earlier freed. One came loose, as he had expected, and quickly handy man Munin began his work.

"Just don't blow us up," she teased quietly. #jknotjk The blanket went back over the couch. Stepping cautiously, she picked her way through the fireplace pieces to the kitchen. She grabbed a bag of chocochews then plopped down on the couch, pulling that same blanket over her legs after crossing them.

Munching quietly, she took out her datapad and pulled up the feed to the Keep.

Fingers swiped across the screen as she checked all the security angles.

Munin actually managed to make quick work of the fireplace. The pieces that needed replacing were swiftly replaced, and the pipe that had originally blocked the gas from getting to the flame was removed. Things moved quite quickly, and eventually Munin was ready to try and start everything up. "Alright."

He said clapping his hands together.

"Either it works." Slowly Munin stood up from the floor. "Or I'm about to blow us up."

Either one worked really. They would be warm in either case. He flashed a smile back towards Spark, then slowly undid the release valve that was still in place. For a second after he did nothing, letting some of the gas circulate into the firepit before slowly he leaned over and pressed a small switch on the wall.

For a second, nothing happened. Then suddenly a flame sprung into life. "Hey!"

Munin said, sounding somewhat surprised.

If Munin turned around in that moment, he would've found Spark sitting on the edge of her eat, back very straight with her hands raised slightly toward the fireplace. Datapad fallen in the mix of blankets over her legs. The force was there, just at her fingertips. She'd been ready to spring that invisible bubble of protection to life around Munin and herself, if needed.

Her boyfriend was an information broker and slicer.

Her faith in him as a handyman wasn't extremely solid.

#untilnow

"Wow," sandy-brows rose, a smile of relief pulling at her thin lips. Tense shoulders began to relax as her palms fell back into her lap.

"I'm glad you didn't blow us up," she offered a smile, freckled-nose crinkling slightly.

And OMGEEE, warmth, sweet, wonderful warmth!!!!!! #miracleworker

Munin offered her a wide grin in return. He was kind of surprised he hadn't blown them up either, but...apparently he had learned a thing or two when at the orphanage. The Information Broker wandered over to Spark slowly, swaggering a bit with newfound confidence. There was a slight twinkle in his eye.

Perhaps a bit of mischief.

"Me too." He said as he slowly maneuvered his way onto the cough beside her.

Warmth was already flooding into the room, the gas fireplace actually disseminating heat at a surprisingly quick pace. He stuck his hands out for a moment, but then half turned and pulled the blanket off of the back of the couch. He wrapped it around himself for a moment, and then slowly slipped an arm around Spark. "I think I've earned a reward!"

He told her with a wide grin.

[member="Munin"]

"Pffft," she sputtered at that big #smug grin on his face. Heart may have jumped a little when his arm went around her. Her logical mind blamed the chocochews.

"Your reward," she began, adjusting those glasses on her face, "is that we don't have to sleep in a rented speeder with heated sets, tonight." And by 'tonight,' she of course meant early morning, when they were done at the Keep. If nothing went wrong.

#knockonplasteel

Even with the fire's warmth, she found herself drawn to Munin's body heat. She managed to stop herself from snuggling into him. Just barely.

He slipped his arm around her.

"How about instead of that..." Munin trailed off for a second, his hand snaking to her side to pull her just a little bit closer. "I get some coupons."

The information broker gave her the smallest smile.

The sweetness of what he was about to say would likely make anyone else throw up in their mouths, but...Munin was in love. He didn't particularly care how he sounded or what he seemed like to anyone else. As long as Spark found it funny, or endearing. "Cuddle coupons."

He gave the suggestion with no hint of irony.

Bony-hip bumped up against him as she was pulled closer. Didn't take much to move her gangly-form. She certainly wasn't objecting to his body warmth as her side pressed against his and her knee knocked against his own. "What?" A sideways look was shot his way.

She laughed, a bit self-consciously.

Freckled-nose scrunched up. Blue-eyes blinked beneath glass-lenses. "What the heck are cuddle coupons? Buy-one-get-one?" #BOGO

"Half off one later?"

Sandy-brows rose and she was acutely aware of how close his mouth was.

[member="Spark Finn"]

"Well." Munin said with a small smile. "It's pretty simple."

He tugged her just a bit closer, but no further.

"I get a stack of coupons, and cash them in whenever I want you this close." A stack was pretty generous given that he'd rented a cabin with broken heat, but he wasn't about to point tha tout to Spark. Not any time in the near future anyway.

"Fair, I think." He told her with a smile. "After all I did go through aaallll this trouble."

[member="Munin"]

"Pffft," she sputtered, pale cheeks flaring a bit but she could totally blame it on the fire. His hand curled around her waist. Body angled so her knees drew up and she could pop her legs across Munin's lap.

One side of her gangly legs rested against his chest, bony knees jabbing into him slightly. #srynotsry She was just shy of sitting on his lap. Head curled against his shoulder. "Sooooooo much trouble. And a stack?!"

#forabrokencabin?!!

Blue-eyes drifted up.

"How many coupons are we taking about here?" A small smile curled on her lips.

[member="Spark Finn"]

"At least...." He trailed off in thought for a moment.

Munin was enjoying himself here with Spark, he was enjoying just living with her. Perhaps it was enough. Perhaps they didn't even have to go into the keep. A part of him wondered if it would always be enough, if he could simply be with her...spend time with her and have a normal life. He'd never considered the possibility before, and a part of him thought it was impossible, but as she got just a little close and pressed her knees into him...

When he saw the curl of her lips.

He couldn't help but wonder. "Ten."

The Information Broker finally said.

[member="Munin"]

"Hmm," she pondered, letting off a mouse-like yawn. "I dunno," eyelids began to droop down and she found herself bobbing up and down from the rhythm of Munin's breathing along his chest, the more she let herself relax against him. They'd done a lot today. #lotsofcardio

She'd need more caf later. Before tonight. But the late afternoons had always been prime siesta time. #luvnaps

Glasses fell slightly down her nose but she didn't adjust them. "I suppose you can have ten but you're definitely using one now so that leaves you with nine," logical self explained it all to the information broker. #matteroffactly Pretty soon her chin dipped down further and her eyes closed completely as she drifted off with the sound of the crackling fire in the background.

[member="Spark Finn"]

"That's fine with me." Munin said as he pressed a gentle kiss against her cheek.

He didn't sleep of course, he rarely did when Spark took her naps. They hadn't really laid together like this back at their apartment, curled up on the couch. There were a few times...but usually she retreated to her room to sleep. Munin understood why, he didn't let it bother him, but when it did happen like this...he couldn't help but feel warm.

His arms slowly wrapped around her and he let out a deep breath.

This was all he wanted.

This was all that he needed. He didn't care about what he was, he didn't care about money or mansions. This was enough.

A few hours later, she finally stirred. Sleepy eyes blinked open to the light of the fire and other artificial lights in the room. Daylight was gone but she had no idea what time it was. There was a little wet spot on Munin's shirt from Spark drool.

#hazardsofsnuggling

She was plenty warm for a change and the weight of Munin's arms around her made her lips curl into a small smile. Blue-eyes drifted up to his face to make sure he was awake so she wouldn't disturb him if she moved. Well, moved more than she already had.

"Mun?" Groggy-voice whispered.

[member="Spark Finn"]

She received a kiss on the tip of her nose in answer.

"It's still a few hours to midnight." Munin said quietly. "I think we should get ready soon though."

They would neat to eat something first, probably shower, then get dressed and get into position. The amount of time they had left before midnight, and thus the darkest point of the night, would allow for all of that, at least by his estimation. He smiled slightly and gave her a gentle squeeze.

A part of him still wanted to tell her they didn't have to do this.

That they could just leave and walk away. He wanted to tell her that he didn't mind not knowing, but there was a part of him, a small piece that wanted this. Munin wanted to see what he was, he wanted to know what or who had made him. He wanted...he wanted to know everything. Now that they were so close that feeling got worse and worse.

[member="Munin"]

Fingers sneaked up beneath the lenses of her glasses to rub the lingering sleep from her eyes. "I'll be right there with you," she spoke as if she could read his thoughts. Thin-arms wrapped briefly around him in an awkward-hug attempt. Still, she squeezed him, regardless. It didn't last long, though. She began to unwind her legs and pull away from the warmth he provided.

#sadface

Standing, she ran a hand through tangled locks of blonde-hair, pulling and pushing them from her face in a simple up-do. "I'll make caf," she muttered and shuffled to the kitchen. This time, she'd use their groceries. Starcreds would be long closed. #unfortunately.

"I've been studying the security footage. There's a side entrance that looks like it has the most cover, along the North wall. That will probably be our best bet."

The caf machine flipped on.

[member="Spark Finn"]

Munin stood after her. "Alright."

In truth he'd never really been one for sneaking. His skill had always been looking someone in the face, lying to them about who he was, and then stepping right past them to where he wanted to go. It was easier for him to con someone than to wander into a place undetected. A surprising amount of people were just incredibly easy to trick or fool, something that he'd learned fairly early on. Those skills had only developed better later when he'd learned to make fake identities.

"I'll get the shower hot for you." Munin said as he wandered past the kitchen. "I know you hate cold water."

The cabin's water heater wasn't exactly great either.

He flashed Spark a smile, then headed towards the refresher where he would turn on the water, letting it run while he stepped back towards where Spark was making Caf.

[member="Munin"]

She hovered over the caf machine like a predator watching prey, like an addict waiting for their next fix of spice. #Ivegotproblems Two mugs were pulled from the cabinets. "It's okay," she murmured, attention clearly on the caf. "You take a shower. I might wait until tonight, after...," voice trailed off.

She didn't want to deal with wet hair in the cold. It'd be better to wait until after the Keep. The machine binged, signaling its completion. She poured two cups, cradling both, she offered one to Mun.

Lips blew over the cup's rim impatiently. The smell was to die for.
