Those Things In Your Head

[member="Spark Finn"]

The blaster had found its way back into his holster by the time they'd left the keep.

He didn't even notice the cold as they walked back, didn't even notice the snow slowly falling on his head. He hadn't expected this. He'd readied himself for good news, bad news, even something in between, but what he hadn't thought of, the one thing that he hadn't expected...was finding nothing at all. The facility had been empty. There had been no clues, no markings, no data to steal.

Nothing.

What was it supposed to mean? What was he supposed to think? His lips thinned slightly as they reached the door, his hand almost absent minded taking the key from his pocket and sliding it in the door. The tumblers within the lock shifted open, and a second later they stood inside of their tiny vacation home.

It was warm this time, noticeably so.

Munin didn't say anything as he slowly kicked off his boots. Wandering towards the bedroom as he stripped off his warm winter clothes and got into bed.

Worried-gaze followed the information broker as he disappeared into the bedroom. She locked the door behind them and peeled off her own gloves, jacket, hat. She checked the fireplace and made sure nothing would explode, burn down, or otherwise kill them while they slept. She half pulled, half stumbled from her own boots.

She wasn't sure what to do. Give him his space? She waited in the doorway, backlit by the fire. Frazzled blonde-strands of hair almost seemed to glow white.

Thin-lips frowned.

Quietly, she padded over to the other side of the bed and slipped in next to him. She waited quietly and scooched a little closer. She made herself available but didn't reach out unsure of how close he wanted to be right now.

#space?

Munin didn't say anything as Spark crawled into bed. He didn't say anything as she moved closer to him.

For a few minutes he didn't even acknowledge that she was there.

Then, slowly, his hand slid forward. His palm brushed over her, slipping onto her skin and around the small of her back. With a gentle pull her tugged her closer to himself, pulling her into an embrace as he slowly shook. Not from the cold.

Not from the snow.

But because of everything else.

That's all she needed. His permission. Gangly-arms of odd angles wrapped around him as best she could. He'd feel the press of her glasses as her face went against his neck and face.

Slowly, her hand rubbed up and down the outside of his arm as if she could take his trembling away.

She didn't offer any words. She just clung to him gently. Held him. Lips pressed lightly against his cheek. The technopath tried to comfort him as best she could.

Tonight would be a long night and she doubted she'd fall asleep at all, even if Munin managed to.
