Strengths

Master Swordsman
Valerian is regarded as one of the deadliest non-Force wielding combatants of his era. Trained originally as a Praetorian executioner and dueling officer, his style favors precision, endurance, and ruthless efficiency over flourish. He studies Force users extensively and has developed counter-techniques specifically for combating Jedi and Sith opponents.
Strategic Defensive Genius
Like the fortress commanders of old, Valerian excels in siege warfare, defensive logistics, attrition campaigns, and battlefield preservation. He rarely wastes lives unnecessarily and prefers calculated victories over glorious ones.
Absolute Discipline
Valerian possesses immense self-control emotionally and mentally. Torture, fear tactics, political humiliation, and psychological warfare have little effect on him. His soldiers often draw strength simply from his presence during crises.
Political Realist
Unlike many Imperial successors, Valerian understands why previous remnants collapsed. He avoids pointless brutality, refuses cults of personality, and prioritizes sustainability over expansion.

Weaknesses

Emotionally Distant
Valerian struggles to connect with others on a personal level. He respects loyalty and competence but often fails to understand emotional needs, causing strain among subordinates and allies.
Obsessive Need for Control
He has severe difficulty delegating authority, believing that weak leadership destroyed every Imperial successor before him. As a result, he overworks himself and creates dangerous command bottlenecks.
Rigid Thinking
Though highly intelligent, Valerian is inflexible once committed to a course of action. He distrusts improvisation and can underestimate opponents who rely on unpredictability or unconventional methods.
Burdened by Duty
Valerian defines his entire existence through responsibility and survival. He has little personal life, few attachments, and almost no ability to rest. Many fear he is slowly becoming more monument than man.

APPEARANCE

Thorus Valerian is an imposing figure standing well above most men with a broad, battle-hardened build, he carries himself with rigid military posture even outside armor.

His face is sharply defined and worn by decades of war. Numerous scars cross his jawline, brow, and neck, remnants of assassinations, boarding actions, and duels fought during the collapse of multiple Imperial states. His eyes are cold grey-blue, stern and analytical, often giving the impression that he is constantly judging structural weaknesses in both people and places.

Valerian's white-platinum hair is kept short and austere, adding to the almost statue-like quality of his appearance.

His armor is a heavily modified variant of ancient Imperial Praetorian battle plate: dark crimson with blackened metallic reinforcement, repaired countless times rather than replaced. Ceremonial ornamentation has largely been stripped away in favor of practicality. Over it he wears a long weather-beaten cloak bearing the faded sigil the old Empire.

At his side rests a massive two-handed longsword designed for armored combat and execution strikes rather than elegance.

Everything about him suggests endurance rather than glory.
