Strengths:
  • While the Tho Yor class Attack Vessels are designed to be multiple purpose in their use to allow those vessels to fulfill various roles, the Tho Yor class Mothership is designed and dedicated to the rapid deployment of smaller craft (primarily Starfighters, Troop Transports, and General Transports) in a bid to rapidly deploy the forces required to secure air / space domination.

  • While much larger in comparison to its Sister Tho Yor class Attack Vessels, it shares much of the same physical traits and construction designs of those vessels. This means that much like the Attack Vessel class, the Tho Yor class Motherships are capable of being rapidly produced in a short period of time.

Weaknesses:
  • With the Tho Yor class Attack Vessels weakened due to their attempt to fill multiple roles, the Tho Yor class Motherships are likewise weakened due to their more dedicated capabilities. The additional hangar bays take up more room, preventing the Mothership vessels from holding more powerful or multiple weapons that would otherwise be useful in ship to ship combat. Its larger size, and overall lack of heavy firepower and weapons spread out across the vessel make it very vulnerable to heavier armed vessels.

  • The vessels' design is comprised of two pieces, the central control, and the outer super structure that wraps around the vessel. This outer super structure is where a large amount of the vessels' weapons reside, meaning that it is possible to knock the vessel out of combat by destroying the support structures that link the outer super structure with the interior vessel spire.

Description:

The Tho Yor class Motherships are the sister vessels to the Tho Yor class Attack Vessels currently utilized by the Outer Rim Imperium. Both of these vessels are designed with their inspiration taken from the ancient Tho Yor vessels. As the Tho Yor class Motherships utilized the same design of their Attack Vessel counterparts, their primary structure, that being the Pyramidal shape of the vessel, is the location of the vessel's primary systems, including shield and weapon control, various hangar and cargo bays, the bridge, and a modest medical bay (not nearly as equipped as their Attack Vessel counterparts). This primary structure also retains the crew quarters and other non-military facilities that are otherwise essential to keep the crew comfortable during their service on the vessel.

The external super structure that wraps around the vessel and connects to it through a series of support struts, allowing access into the structure for maintenance and weapons control, houses the vessels weapons. This structure is designed to spread out the vessels weapons in an attempt to provide overlapping firing arcs, from both below and above. Though there are still blind spots in this design that a starfighter could easily exploit.

Just as is common in the Tho Yor class Attack Vessels, the primary pyramidal structure of the vessel holds the primary and secondary hangar bays that contain the Crescent class Starfighters and Kesh class Modular Transports. Those hangars that contain the Kesh class Modular Transports are designed to be large enough to permit the on board crew to reconfigure the vessels as the need arises. These hangar bays also contain various work areas that are utilized by on board mechanics and droids to ensure the continued operation of the Crescent and Kesh vessels.

Development Thread: If Necessary

Intent:

While the Tho Yor class Attack Vessels serves as the primary staple attack vessel of the Outer Rim Imperium during its operations, it lacks in the capabilities present in the Tho Yor class Motherships. This design is thus intended to produce a vessel for the Outer Rim Imperium that is focused upon a more singular aspect in its capabilities (that of Hangar and Passenger Capacity) over the more 'Jack of all trades' designation of the Tho Yor class Attack Vessels.

[member="Tasgetius Blackwood"], this looks entirely ready for approval to me, but not unlike the original Tho Yor-class, it strikes me as being a bit underarmed.

If you wanted to, you could probably double the armament from where it currently stands, but ultimately it's your choice.
