Private They Went That-A-Way

FOEROST // ORBIT
TYRANNY DRYDOCK
Mercy Mercy
A spiderweb of scaffolding surrounded a planet scarred full of canyons and geometric craters. None of it was natural; this was the product of millennia of stripmining, used to fuel the massive shipyards that orbited Foerost. Among them was a drydock, housing one of the galaxy's largest warships: Tyranny.

Aboard the great dreadnought...

"They can't have gone far."

"With the damage they took? I'm surprised they limped out at all."

Tyrant Squadron continued the hunt for the remnants of the Mythic Fleet. They knew the enemy vanished somewhere to the galactic north. However, with the Tyranny under repair, they were forced to fan out, scouting system-by-system to confirm readouts gathered by long-range sensor buoys.

"I would be looking for a place to rebuild if I were them."

Ceria Kesyk walked onto the bridge. The little finger on her right hand was bound to a splint, and there was a stitch holding together the gash in her lip.

"Send a scouting flotilla to this area." She tapped the holographic readout.

Bilbringi. A major shipyard. Perhaps the only major shipyard that way, without going as far as Chiss space. The Lieutenant was right, by Kesyk's account. The enemy would need time to rebuild, to replenish their losses at Abregado-rae. That made it the obvious answer; the asteroids around Bilbringi made it an excellent redoubt, too. They were natural obstacles, sensor buffers, ambush spots. It was an excellent position by her assessment.

Kesyk could send a small detachment to the deep space region just outside of the system. A low-risk position to monitor from. Perhaps it wouldn't give them an in-depth analysis, but a rough idea was good enough. For now.

Of course, all that would have to wait...

A Dark Presence fell over the bridge-under-repair. It was why Kesyk knew to look over her shoulder before the door slid open, and her frame darkened the doorway. She turned her body fully and fell to one knee, arm draped over. Head low.

"My Lord Empress."

Mercy had arrived without ceremony or warning.

No word had come before her to alert Ceria or the others on the Tyranny that their Empress would be visiting today. In Mercy's experience that was the way to do these things. You came unannounced and when the people around you were shocked, you'd be able to find out certain useful things, that could be utilized in the future.

The Titan stood in the doorway as her presence in the Force roiled outward of her. The Dark Side pulsing like a heart beat, each wave synced towards her breath.

"My Vice-Admiral..." Her voice floated on one of those waves, purring, welcome and satisfied. "Rise, let me have a look at you, in all your glory."

Another breath.

Suddenly the Titan stood right in front of her, when she had been in the doorway just a moment ago.

Her hand reached out to cup her cheek.

"Ceria Kesyk... Vice-Admiral... Psychopath... Lord... Myth Breaker." Mercy said with so much satisfaction, her spinning joy at Ceria's earlier performance over Abregado was so thick in the air it would pull into Ceria with just that touch. She'd be immersed by the love her Lord had for her. "You are everything I have wanted for and more..."

For a brief moment her gaze shifted towards the throne away from Throne beyond them.

Where her poppet had sat during Abregado.

"You never called for reinforcements... tell me, why not?" There was no displeasure in her voice. Just... curiosity.

Kesyk rose when commanded, helped by Mercy's hand around her chin. Her whole body shook with delight at her Master's praise, and she swelled with sick joy. Pride. To be everything the Empress wanted... to be more...

She managed to pull back, just enough from the Titan's touch that she could find her composure again. Ceria stood with an officer's posture, back straight, hands clasped behind her; a second or two to process the question.

Answers dueled in her mind.

She landed on: "It wasn't necessary. I did not doubt my abilities so that I needed rescue. I might as well have killed myself then and there, were that the case."

Her answer clearly struck a chord on the bridge, as the rest of the bridge staff were deeply uncomfortable hearing it. They were afraid of the Vice Admiral. Some of them were survivors from Abregado-rae. Others were replacements pulled to staff the new bridge, after about half their predecessors were slaughtered during the battle. Including the XO, who was killed by Kesyk's own hands.
