THE SANDS OF SISKEEN
Slowly he trekked across the desert, the glaring sun baking upon his back. The white sand of the Helmund region made the desert appear surreal. White sand and a clear blue sky. One would say it was beautiful if the skeletal remains of deceased creatures and beings didn't litter the landscape. The slight scent of sulfur rode on the afternoon breeze causing the man to frown slightly. Yes, the natives called the Helmund region Aspheria ... Hell in their language. On the horizon pillars of rolling smoke rose to the heavens and the stench of burned flesh mingled with the sulfur. A small grin crossed the man's face as he continued his journey westward. It didn't take a genius to know that whatever burned on the horizon, it was already too late.
Cresting a dune he turned to look back, two specks were just visible. One had a metallic hue and slightly boxy in frame. Some sort of transport. The other speck was fluid, a deep black color that seemed to absorb the radiating rays of the sun. Four limbs rent the ship and even at a distance the sound of it's roar was heard.
The Interlopers were being handled and there was no need to intervene, not when Mushu had things well in hand ... Or claw as the case would seem. With a wry grin he continued his mission.
Several hours later he crouched unmoving and watched the oasis. The deep violet foilage a clear sign of water. Carefully he stood and moved down into the trees, their bark a deep red and leaves vibrant shades of purple. It was beautiful, but hidden nearby were K'kayeh eggs waiting to hatch. And that spelled imminent danger, for where the nest was, so too would the mother be.
Nearing the bubbling spring of heated water he dropped to a knee next to a large mound of compacted sand. Pulling the satchel from his back he placed several handfuls of the white grains within before reading his hands into the mound. Slowly he pulled an egg free and looked at it carefully. Fitting in the pale of his hands the exterior of the egg seemed to be carved from igneous rock. But the pulsing vibrations from within revealed the strong heartbeat of the unborn. Placing the egg into the satchel he packed more sand in and continued until he carried four dragon eggs within.
Slowly he rose and turned coming face to face with their mother. Her head was nearly as large as his body and the teeth glistened from their bared snarl. The crystal white hide and the presence identified the particular dragon as S'verah, one of the first litter to be born in Siskeen. Reaching out in the force Muad touched the female filling her mind with the abominations within the eggs. She shook her head as if in disbelief, but as with all the K'kayeh born on Siskeen, Muad had spent time with her and fed her when she was young to develop a bond of trust. The pearl eyes viewed the man as if deciding which it would believe, the one who fed her with his own hand when it was yet a hatching or it's instincts that screamed to rend the intruder to bits. However the images of the abomination that existed in the eggs struck another instinctual urge to cull them from the species.
Slowly she moved to the side and curled her massive body around her nest, a single great eye watching the man carefully. Backing away he left the oasis with his prize safely upon his back. Making a hasty retreat he stretched out with his mind for the bond that was nearby.
After minutes a strong wind began to send the grains of sand flying across the desert. Looking up with a smirk he watched as a massive dragon lowered from the sky and settled in the ground. Every scale flashed a different iridescent color as the six legs flexed from the creature's girth. Raising it's head it roared as Muad made his way to the middle leg and lightly leapt to the K'kayeh's back.
"Let's head back Puff."
With several flaps of it's gargantuan wings and aided by a leap, the beast took to the air. Soaring across the desert they passed the devastated carcass that had been the transport ship. In the distance the black form of Mushu undulated across the desert until he dove into the sands to burrow beneath the surface. A smirk crossed his face as he watched the Spaceport near. It was time for a trip.
DAYS LATER
The modified carrier cut through the atmosphere of Ryloth, the winds buffering the ship as it descended. The ramp lowered while still suspended far above the ground and Puff leapt from the carrier. His neon colored wings spread, catching an updraft, and slowly the great beast spiraled toward the courtyard of Sinner's Well.Landing with an earth shaking impact the dragon raised it's head and roared into the heavens, tendrils of blue lightening flaring into the sky as it announced their presence in a challenging display of controlled ferocity.
