BIOGRAPHY:

The life of a Jawa is rooted in the art of the deal. This was no different for Theptak Ptay. The future Alliance congressman was born on the scrapyard world of Jakku, among a clan of so-called "Offerworld Jawas". The Ptay clan migrated across the deserts of Jakku much like their Tatooinean ancestors, collecting and refurbishing scrap in order to resell it. Theptak himself was the son of the clan chieftain, and from his father, he learned much about business.

With his education, he understood how economics worked, but seemed disinterested with simply continuing the life of a salvager. He wanted to be a full-fledged businessman, being far more interested in the wealth-building aspect of the trade. His time came when, after years of declining prosperity on Jakku, the Ptay clan migrated to the Core world of Balmorra. There, they started once again, seeking scraps from the ancient factories on the world. Yet, Theptak instead repurposed his family's business. He had them park their crawler, and founded "Ptay and Family's Mechanical Refurbishers".

The business continued the Jawa tradition of taking scrap and fixing it. But instead of just fixing it to just barely functioning, Theptak made it to where he promoted quality service over shoddiness. In his mind, his belief was that consumers would be more willing to pay more for a better good than rake in meager credits for mediocre services.

Yet, being a business owner did not come without its troubles. Many governmental oversights, regulations, and red tape that made it difficult. Because of this, Theptak decided to join politics. Once he transferred ownership to a trustful cousin, Ptay joined up with the local branch of the Corporatists Party on Balmorra. He was a vocal member who spoke out on their behalf with their factional disputes with Balmorra's local Federalists.

His popularity was such that, when Adhira Chandra Adhira Chandra vacated her seat when she became the next Alliance Chancellor, Theptak was nominated as the Corporatists' nominee to replace her. The Jawa campaigned hard for the seat. By a miracle, Theptak won the election and is now the Senator-Elect for Balmorra.

TRAITS:
[+] Business Acumen: being born a Jawa has its perks. Having a culture that revolves around trade and profit, Theptak learned the ways of negotiation and business. This has translated over to his new position as a senator in the Alliance's legislative branch, using it to be a political negotiator and voice for the corporate interests that he now represents. He also has skills as a mechanic to rebuild things, like all Jawas pass on as their "business"
[+] Meritocrat: A positive quirk of his business upbringing is his ability to judge people by merit. He believes in having the best people in his business, corporate or otherwise, regardless of their origins. Surprisingly, he also believes in having labor unions in order to continually respect the workers and their needs to keep them optimal.
[~] Multilingual: Theptak made a point to learn a few languages in order to understand business partners in his younger years. However, while he can understand Basic and Huttese, his vocal cords make it hard to speak anything other than either form of Jawaese. Thankfully, most senatorial functions come with translators.
[-] Greedy: Perhaps expected, Theptak comes as little bit avaricious. While believing in democracy, he is also very much a capitalist. His mindset is always focused on helping businesses and business folks get richer. While not the worst thing, it is still something that might make him look a little morally questionable.
