OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Shipyard Name: The Vulcanal Array
  • Station Models: Type V-475 Orbit Docks, Domitian-Class Orbital Fabricators
  • Classification: Orbital Shipyard Network
  • Location: Jaemus System, Jaemus
  • Affiliation: The Sith Empire, Jaemus Planetary Government, Helix Syndicate
  • Population: Heavily Populated
  • Demographics: 73% Human, 20% Other, 7% Droid
  • Accessibility: Anyone is free to dock so long as they submit to customs checks and pay the appropriate fees. Visitors are usually restricted to leisure sections unless they have special business elsewhere.
  • Description: The Vulcanal Array, otherwise known as the Jaemus Shipyards, is a series of orbital structures orbiting the planet Jaemus. It is composed of five Domitian-Class Orbital Fabricators, positioned equidistant from one another, in a circle around Jaemus. Between each of the Domitians is a spattering of smaller Type V-475 Orbit Docks, used for the construction of smaller cruisers and capital ships.
DEFENSES & SECURITY

Security is at its most oppressive on the Domitian-Class Orbital Fabricators, with numerous security checkpoints, auto-turret defense grids, lifeform scanners, and observation cameras. These measures become increasingly more prevalent and byzantine the closer you get to areas of import: power generators and control rooms, for example. Similar procedures are observed on the V-475 Orbital Docks, but nowhere near as obsessively.

Defenses are rudimentary. The Domitians have token point defense and anti-starfighter countermeasures. The V-475s have nothing. Since neither of them are able to host starfighter squadrons for defenses, the Vulcanal Array is entirely dependent on a garrison fleet for protection.

In short: it would be easier to destroy the shipyards that make up the Vulcanal Array from the outside.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The five Domitian-Class Orbital Fabricators that have been introduced to the Jaemus Shipyards are often collectively referred to as The Towers. Their names are as follows: Corynetes, Philammon, Erichthon, Cercyon, and Philottus. Structurally they are all the same, although there are minor permutations in regards to what companies or businesses are present on each.
  • The Ridges: The most visible aspect of each Tower is the ridge. These ridges serve as open drydocks for capital ships up to two thousand meters in length.
  • Upper Section: The area above the ridge serves two purposes. The first is administrative; each Tower’s main control bridge is located in the center. This is also where some of the molecular foundries can be found, breaking down scrap and refuse for conversion into materials fit for manufacturing.
  • High-Mid Section: This area is set aside for leisure and living. Most civilian freighters looking for a temporary port to dock in do so here, finding repairs, warm meals, and a place to stay in the process. Everyone who works anywhere on the station typically has their living quarters located here. If an employee is off-duty, there’s nowhere else they’d rather be.
  • Low-Mid Section: The area that shares the same space as the Ridges are home to various manufacturing centers. These factories are used to produce various things, depending on who’s renting them out.
  • Lower Sections: These sections contain the molecular foundries. Scrap metal and other such garbage materials are broken down within molecular furnaces and converted into usable construction materials. Because of its remote location compared to the living space, most of the work here is done by droids. Any organic personnel working in these sections are typically overseers and foremen, who have their own dedicated living spaces and leisure areas in the same area.
  • Transportation: Not so much a point of interest as an important note, but each Tower contains a very complex system of trams and turbolifts to ensure timely travel between all sections. Transportation hubs are spread out generously throughout the station.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Historically, the Jaemus Shipyards have been only a minor fixture in the galaxy, comparable only to Sluis Van and overshadowed by the neighboring yards of Yaga Minor. Investment and coordination from the Helix Syndicate saw the construction of the Domitian-Class Orbital Fabricators, of which they maintain some control over. Now the Jaemus Shipyards are considered roughly equivalent in size and productivity to Yaga Minor.

Since then considerably expensive upgrade, the Jaemus Shipyards have been re-christened the Vulcanal Array.
