Her one hope to beat him was left behind in the sand.

After the Zeltron lost his clash with Aldric, Valery grumbled a little internally. Of course, it had been an amazing show for her to see her man beat the guy, but she wasn't looking forward to going into a tackle herself. Sadly, there was no other option, so as Aldric began to sprint towards their goal line, she charged at him from an angle.

He was much heavier and physically stronger, so the only way for her to bring him down was by coming in fast enough. But with her lack of experience and the sand affecting her approach, she didn't quite get the angle from the side she was hoping for. Her plan had been to wrap her arms around his waist and drag him down, but instead, she came in a little too much from the front, and a little too fast.

There was no stopping it anymore, and unless he somehow managed to dodge her at the last second, this was going to be quite an impact. One that would undoubtedly end with her bashed into the sand as well.

Still, it would never be enough to get her to give up. One way or another, she was going to score against him.

Aldric was so focused on looking around for Valery elsewhere that he managed to almost completely miss her jumping right in front of him. He blinked at the last second, but there was no time to slow down, "W-woah!" The two collided into one another messily, and with his size advantage he nearly trampled over her, but did his best to avoid as much, leading to an awkward stumble and dive just past the goal line.

His teammates first all winced, then cheered to see that he scored. Aldric quickly hopped up and dusted off the sand he hand collected, tossing the ball back before extending an arm to Valery, "You good?" He'd help pull her up, genuinely wanting to make sure he hadn't accidentally hurt her or anything. But afterwards, he still couldn't help but smirk, "Not made at me, are ya?"

Then, it was back to the field, and the start of the next round.

"W-woah!"

It was the last thing she heard before everything briefly went back, and her eyes were suddenly staring up at the blue sky, instead of her boyfriend. The impact had knocked the wind out of her lungs, and she was a little dazed, but by the time he scrambled back up to his feet, Valery was rolling onto her side again. She was a little too quiet at first, making it seem like she was pissed off and about to kill him for battering her onto the ground.

However, when his hand extended to pull her back up, she took it and looked at him with a soft smile, "Bit sore but okay..." she admitted, even though it had definitely hurt. Nothing serious or lasting, though. "You'll have a chance to make up for that later." She winked and turned to her teammates, "Come on, let's get them back!"

That fiery energy ignited again within her, and the game continued. More tackles were made, passes were intercepted and soon enough, Valery made a run between two of her opponents, as the ball was passed over them and into her path. She caught it and right as a tackle attempt was made, she jumped up and backflipped over the guy, sending him stumbling into the sand while she continued. It sparked cheering from her own team, and people who had gathered to watch from the side were impressed as well. Both Aldric and Valery were drawing a lot of attention.

Come on, almost there... she told herself as she kept sprinting with the ball tucked against her chest. Where the hell is he?

As Val was getting up, there was a brief moment where Aldric's heart skipped a beat, half expecting that the price of scoring would be his life. But she assured she was alright a bit more warmly, and he flashed her an apologetic smile before they were off to start again.

The game continued, and this time Aldric used his size to play a good defense. He kept one of his opponents from being open enough to catch the ball, but that meant it instead went to none other than Valery. Aldric grinned, and soon made a beeline for her. The jedi wasn't afraid to show off some herself, even flipping over one of his teammates entirely.

She was nearing the goal line, and the only thing standing between her and victory was Aldric. Valery was faster, but he had been closer to the line to begin with, and slid in front of her, ready to make a play. He dove forward to tackle her, but whether or not she was slick enough to avoid it remained to be seen.

With the ball tightly hugged against her, she looked behind her and to her sides to try and find him, but it was only at the last moment that she noticed him appearing from the front too. He lunged at her for a tackle, and with everything she got, she tried to jump over him... but didn't quite make it again. The impact still felt like getting hit by a train, but this time she was expecting it a little more and straightened out her arm in an attempt to still get the ball over the line.

Her face hit the sand with Aldric wrapped around her legs or waist, and she just laid still, the ball a few inches short from scoring. One of his teammates was quick to catch up and yoink it away to continue the game, and Valery pushed herself up to cough away some sand.

"I think you won..." she grumbled, clearly not satisfied with that result. His team was now making a move to score yet another goal, while she was trying to not feel like a train wreck. But after a second or two, she turned her head to him and smirked again, "Was fun wrestling a little with you, though." She shifted onto her knees and raised a hand up through her long hair, which had gotten a lot messier now. It was only at this moment that she realized how many onlookers there were, which got her to blink in surprise.

"Huh, I think you impressed quite a crowd, babe."

Aldric found his grip around her waist, throwing them both back into the sand. He had intentionally tried to be a bit lighter with his impact this time, to make up for the much less intended collision from earlier. But there was only so much he could do for that while still landing a good hit.

Aldric rolled off, and ran a hand through his hair, making lines of sand fall out of it. He looked back at Valery with a sympathetic smile, almost secretly having hoped that she managed to weasel her way out of his tackle and score. But not this time, it seemed. "It was," He smirked, then turned to look at the crowd which she pointed to, "Not just me, I think. You're the one who did a straight backflip over a guy," He chuckled, then pulled them both back up to their feet.

"Wanna keep going, or are you officially tapping out of this game?" Aldric asked.

Pulled up to her feet once again, she chuckled and looked over at the crowd, "Maybe, but there's one obstacle I couldn't dodge..." she smirked and stepped a little closer to him, her eyes burning with passion. "I might call it here before you literally break me in half with one of those tackles of yours..." she trailed off and pushed herself up against him so she could pull him into a sudden, but loving kiss.

It was a cute moment together, and people around them seemed to love it as well, as they began to cheer and whistle for the couple. To Valery, it was a special little moment together after having played such an intense game.

But the game wasn't actually over.

When she pulled back from the kiss, there was something evil to her smirk, and if he looked around, he'd realize that she had attempted to distract him with her alluring gaze, her body close to him, and of course, their kiss. "Oops, changed my mind~" One of her teammates was now closing in on the goal line with the ball, and Valery ran off towards it as well but at a different angle. Aldric would either have to allow her teammate to score, or he'd close in and watch them pass the ball to Valery so she'd score instead.

"Gotta stay focused, babe!" She called out with a huge grin.

Aldric shrugged with an air of confidence, and smirked as she pulled him in closer. That look in her eyes was there again, and his emeralds glimmered in response. Valery pulled him into a kiss, which he gladly and lovingly reciprocated. It even earned a cutesy reaction from some of the spectators, with a few cheers and whoops thrown in for good measure. He was content to call it there.

But as Valery pulled back, the glint in her eye seemed less loving and more sinister. Aldric blinked, and suddenly remembered the number one rule of Huttball: there are no rules. Her team was turning the tide, and he was standing here gawking like an idiot. Well and truly played. He turned to her one last time with a look of betrayal, before she took off to leave him behind. Aldric scrambled, nearly tripping in the sand to catch up. No matter what, it was too late for him. They scored, and he slipped onto a knee. A few of the players chuckled, seeing how he had been duped, but it was all good-natured.

Aldric looked at Valery again and nodded, "Alright. Alright. I see how it is." He stood up, moving back to the edge of the field, "That's the kind of trick that only works once, babe. Now? You're done for."

There was a look of betrayal when his beautiful emerald eyes shifted back to her.

it almost made her feel bad, but she was far too happy that her little trick had worked and distracted him enough for her team to score a goal. Aldric ended up on a knee and some of his teammates were starting to chuckle, while the crowd went a little wild about what happened. Sometimes there was just nothing more fun than the competitiveness within a couple, and they were special.

"Oh yeah? Done for huh?" She challenged with a smug grin as she walked back towards her starting position, her eyes never quite leaving him. Perhaps she was rubbing it in a liiittle bit, but she meant well and flashed a lover's smile his way right before it was time to get back to business, just so that he knew too.

"Show me what you got!" His team was quicker to pick up the ball each time, so Valery and her team were preparing a solid defense, and she tried to keep herself sharp for any tricks he might try to pull in retaliation.

There was no holding back now.

It was all fun and games, sure, but Val was getting awfully cocky over her one point. Aldric just grinned wider, his smugness matching her own. It was time to deflate that ego and remind her of who was in the lead. "You asked for it!"

His team got to the ball first. But the one who grabbed it was almost immediately tackled. Last second, he threw the ball to Aldric, who caught in, and weaved through a few defenders to make another run for the goal line. He seemed to almost specifically run by Valery, just to make sure she was well aware that it was him, "Stay focused, babe!" He echoed back at her.

"You better not disappoint me now!" She called out while she got ready again for the game to continue. So far, the atmosphere had been very light and very little rivalry existed between the two teams because they were all friends playing together. Valery and Aldric, however, were quite an exception and made it all so much more fun to watch.

This game was one she loved to play, and it was going to continue until the end.

At the blow of a whistle, the two teams began to play again and initially, it seemed Valery's plan was working. Aldric's team was allowed to capture the ball and almost instantly the Zeltron made a tackle to try and capture it. But at the last possible second, a pass was still made and, of course, Aldric received it.

You are mine now

He intentionally moved past Valery and challenged her with her own words, which really got her eyes to narrow and her fiery eyes to burn. She immediately sprinted after him, this time coming up from behind him, but made no tackle yet. Even if she wrapped herself around his waist, he'd likely still be able to keep going, so instead, she used a subtle nudge through the Force to launch herself up, and hopefully high enough to wrap her thighs around his neck. It would be an incredibly odd thing to see, but she'd use her momentum to swing around and try to bring him down into the sand.

Of course, she was cheating a little again, but she could not let him win this one.

Aldric was about to run it all the way in. The goal line was in sight, and he knew despite Valery's speed advantage, chances are she still wouldn't be able to bring him down. He spared her one last taunting look, only to suddenly find his vision swung around, and soon after, his back in the sand. She was able to use her momentum and his own weight against him, tossing him down and letting the ball roll from his grasp just shy of the line.

It took a moment for Aldric to realize what exactly had happened, but when he did, he grinned and looked over to Valery, "There's worse ways to get tackled~" He winked, then quickly hopped back up. A few of her teammates cheered and whistled at the impressive display. She'd saved them from a widened point gap this time. Valery and Aldric were quickly becoming the stars of this show. "Lucky hit."

While tricky, her little maneuver was successful and managed to bring the much larger man down. Just to prove a point, she kept his head locked between her thighs while she sat over him on her knees a little longer, and looked down into his eyes with a fiery grin. She didn't even really care about the ball at this point and left it to her teammates — it was just about finally getting him with a tackle. "Oh, I'm sure you loved that more than I did," she teased with a chuckle before she finally eased off and let him climb out from between her legs.

She even offered him a hand to climb back up but instantly withdrew it when he commented on her tackle again.

"Lucky?" she grumbled before jabbing a finger into his side, "Next time the tackle won't be as fun~" she said before she walked past him and flicked some hair over her shoulder, causing her ponytail to whip into his face. The game now continued with her team in possession, and with game-time nearing its official end, they had their last shot to equalize the score, and perhaps force a tie-breaker. It wasn't going to be easy at all, but Valery was going to give it her all.

Another long pass soon followed, and as the fastest of the group, Valery sprinted after it. But unlike last time, it fell a bit short, so while she caught it, there was still a good run ahead of her, and both Aldric and one of his teammates were close, positioned on opposite sides of her and threatening to catch her in between.

It was all or nothing now — she sprinted with everything she had. Either she'd score the goal, or she'd accept getting hit by another tackle, possibly from two of her opponents.

Aldric just looked up at Valery with a self-satisfied smirk as she sat over top of him, finding little reason to complain about the current position she had him trapped in. Eventually he got up, though, and flinched a bit when she poke him. Still he smirked, "Next time?" Casting doubt on her even getting another chance at it, for no other reason than to rile her up. It all seemed to work quite well, seeing as he then found himself with a momentary face full of ponytail. He chuckled, and returned to his team.

The ball flew through the air, and Valery caught it. Aldric had kept back to play defender, and was closing the distance to give Val her comeuppance. His teammate was on the same path from the opposite side, threatening to squish the poor Jedi between them if she was unable to avoid. Aldric dove, making a grab for her legs to try and trip her over, "Gotcha!" He said, a bit prematurely.

Nope, nope, nope, noooope-

She ran as fast as she possibly could without the Force, but this time it wasn't enough. Aldric's arms wrapped around her legs, tripping her up, right as his other teammate came in for a fast tackle as well. He struck her side hard, causing her to flip sideways and hit the sand with her face and the front of her body. It likely looked very painful because of how she was squished between them, but she had braced herself and wasn't really hurt.

Aldric hopefully wouldn't be able to tell, though.

Because as a last possible trick to get out of this, she played dead and made it seem as if the impact had knocked her unconscious. Her hand was still on top of the ball, which lay in the sand, but she had no pressure on it to make sure it looked convincing.

In that position, she waited, hoping that Aldric and his teammate would be too worried to think about the game. That's when she'd strike, and get up to make her run across the finish line, which wasn't very far away anymore.

Valery hit the sand facedown, struck at different positions and opposite angles by two different opponents. Aldric winced reactively in anticipation, and almost as soon as he got down, he sprang back up to look at her concernedly. Then his concern turned into a confident roll of his eyes, "Nice try, babe. Not fallin' for it. C'mon, let's go."

Aldric scoffed and stepped forward, but she didn't move. The concern came back, "...Val? You okay?" He knelt down next to her and tried to roll her over. Genuine worry that he might have hurt her came through in his voice.

She was all in with this plan, and even though he didn't seem to buy it at first, her lack of movement brought back concern in his voice. But when it did, she felt a strange shiver in her body, and the whole plan just... no longer felt right. He was genuinely worried that she was seriously hurt, and it made her feel terrible. It was too important that they could trust each other, even with dumb games like this, and she feared this messed with it too much.

So when he rolled her over, she looked him in the eyes with some shame in her own, and slowly moved to sit up. "Yeah... I'm okay," she said softly, her eyes dropping down to the sand for a moment as that shiver kept bothering her. So she did the one thing she knew could cheer her back up, and pushed herself forward to wrap her arms around Aldric's neck. "You win and I'm sorry I worried you there, babe."

The hug tightened a little and she no longer cared about the onlookers at the sides or even their teammates. "That was a lot of fun, hmm?" she finally asked when she pulled back enough to look him in the eyes, and a soft smile began to form again.

"Oh, good," Aldric sighed in relief, "Had me worried there." He pulled her closer as she came in to hug him, "Just glad you're okay."

Although that wasn't… all he was glad about. With his other hand he sneakily reached down to grab the ball, making sure his grip was firm enough on it. When Valery pulled back, Aldric smiled at her, admiring her eyes as he so often liked to do, "It was," He then threw the ball far to one of his teammates, who quickly scrambled to score. "I'll take the win too, though."

The embrace and his comforting words helped a great deal and made sure that her shame faded away quickly. He wasn't angry or upset with her, so she'd just accept what happened as a mistake and move on from it. "Thanks..." she then muttered softly in response before she pulled back and got lost in his eyes for a moment.

Long enough for him to reach around and snatch the ball she had almost completely forgotten about. By the time she realized he had it, Aldric already tossed it over to a teammate, who scored and ended the game in doing so. Valery just watched it happen with widened eyes and turned back to Aldric.

Betrayal.

That's all he could read in her eyes for a few seconds until a far more playful grin slowly took over. People were clapping, cheering, and laughing all around them now things were over, but Valery was focused only on him and pushed herself into him, so he'd fall on his back with her on top of her, "This round, maybe, but we'll continue our little game later, hmm?" she hummed before pressing a deep kiss against his lips.

She let it linger, and allowed it to grow, but when she finally pulled back, she began to talk softly to him. "Why don't we grab our clothes and get a nice dinner somewhere? Talk about a few things..." she trailed off and let her hand slide down his chest in this tender moment, "Then we head back to our place afterwards and just enjoy the night together."

Aldric couldn't help the smug smirk that crept across his face as she turned around, betrayed. He was genuinely relieved to find out she hadn't been hurt, but that didn't mean he couldn't multitask. It was only fair, right?

He was suddenly pushed back, still grinning as she leaned in closer, "Later," He met her halfway as they kissed deeply, pulling her closer. The sounds of the crowd faded out, and he let himself get lost in the moment. But it was just that: a moment. Eventually they both pulled away, and the world came back to him.

"Sounds lovely," Aldric smiled, more genuinely now, running a hand across Valery's leg. Once they both were up, he gave the other players a wave, "Thanks for the game!" The players waved back, and then Aldric and Valery were off to recollect their things. He grabbed his towel and shirt, before walking back.

"Maybe up there?" Aldric pointed towards a massive pier, which contained shops, stalls, and even a ferris wheel. It would be a little more casual, but convenient and still scenic. "Or we can head into the town itself for something a little more proper, if that's what you're feeling?" He pointed back towards the main city area. It would probably have something that more approached the concept of 'fine dining', with the caveat being it was a bit more of a walk, and they'd probably need to get changed. "Your call, really. I'm not picky. Besides, it's the least I can offer, as consolation for beating you at Huttball." A dangerous smirk grew back onto his face.
