Extra-Galactic

Average Lifespan: 110-120 years, reach full maturity at 19.

Estimated Population: Planetary

Description: The Songful Ones are a tall, thick-set species with dark eyes of either white or brown/black pupils. Instead of feet and hands, they have slightly curbed stumps and are bald.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION

Breathes: Type I.

Average Height of Adults: 2.2 metres.

Average Length of Adults: N/A

Skin color:
White - Grey - Blue

Hair color: N/A

Distinctions:

Mouths
:
Both races of the Songful Ones have small holes for mouths, incapable of fitting pieces of food much larger than a crumb, necessitating that they consume only liquids. They are however capable of very expressive whistling range far beyond that of a human’s capacity. They cannot speak the common language, necessitating translators in order to speak with others.

Powerful Builds: There are no fat Songful Ones. Due to their planets’ high gravity, they are on average more physically powerful than humans as a baseline. They often have thick-set legs and/or arms, their muscle and fat being intertwined, turning into Pink Muscle. They have both the stamina of red muscle and the explosive strength of white muscle. Of course, even with this they run out of energy rather quickly, and when they crash, they crash hard, requiring a lot of nourishment to keep up. They may have somewhat large behinds, mainly due cushion against falling, their strong spines and whatever muscle or fat there absorbing the impact.

Feet&Hands: The Songful Ones don’t have feet. They have stumps that very much akin to hooves, able to cling to even the smallest of crevices, enabling them to walk or climb up very sheer surfaces. They are also incapable of getting sprains from the knees down. Not having toes or fingers to worry about and having a stronger, smaller surface area means their strikes pack a rather nasty punch. This also allows them to run on four limbs to move faster. This is not without its problems. Melee weapons are almost unheard of due to this and are in fact shunned, preferring to punch and kick using their powerful limbs. Using ranged attacks is generally only used by force-wielders with telekinesis, as such it is seen as a sign of strength and prestige. They can also extend their arms a little to run on all fours.

The Force: The Songful Ones who are force sensitive are naturally inclined to one ability that they all find the most useful. Adept at Telekinesis, they take great delight in being able to throw rocks, trees and so forth at their enemies or prey without having to run up and punch them as is usual for their species. They make such great use of it they’re even able to take control and redirect projectiles sent toward them.

Genders: The genders of the Songful Ones are split into two genders/races, which are explained below. There isn’t that much gender dimorphism when it comes to facial features, but are otherwise similar to other species' difference in males and females.

Races: The two races are mainly separated by their appearance, but are generally intermingled with each other, providing no barrier other than one race being more inclined to a certain gender. They are both capable of mating with each other.

Whuu – Smooth skin, brown pupils, slit-mouth. Singular, sharp whistles while speaking. These are more often the females, though males do exist.

Swii – Ragged skin, white pupils, multiple slits under skin folds, multiple low whistles when speaking. These are, more often than not, the males, though females do exist.

Force Sensitivity: Rare

Strengths:

Facing a Songful One in hand-to-hand combat involves trying to evade their strike while moving to catch them while they gallop off on all fours. Due to their inflexibility, they’re proficient in hit-and-run tactics. They hit hard enough to dent steel, and move fast. Their stumps can grind down bone, which is how they make the paste used to feed themselves.

They have a large muscle mass to cope with the high gravity of their planet, giving them powerful bodies. Due to their pink muscle which combines the two types, they’re not as defined as one would think, as what fat they may have can fill in the gaps. However, the species is varied, and those with a body-builder physique exist.

Due to their rather sturdy joints, their body parts don’t shake as much, therefore, they have a rather good aim, without the problem of having a jittery “hand”. They are both naturally and culturally inclined to ranged combat and can take to a blaster when they’ve been given the chance (and equipment allowing them to use it). The reasoning of this is due to the prestige that comes with being a force user, if they are also able to use ranged combat, then they feel they can share in it.

They have strong backs, which, combined with their muscle mass allows them to carry relatively huge amounts of weight. This amount is increased for those who are trained in the usage of the force. An average member of their species is capable of comfortably lifting five hundred kilograms or more. Furthermore, due to their body shape, when they run on all fours, they can carry other species on them like mounts. Furthermore, should they fall, their backs can take the shock if they fall onto their backside.

Due to the general shape of their wide hips (especially with females), they’re able to keep a centre of balance when mounting a creature or speeder, making them rather good riders for creatures that can carry them. They often rode the creatures of their homeworld.

Those that have the Force find that their telekinesis is much stronger while off of their homeworld and in lower-gravity environments.

Weaknesses:

Due to their bodies boasting a huge amount of muscle mass, the support of their joints has to be much more robust, this means they aren’t as flexible as other species. Acrobatics isn’t something they are accustomed to, being more of an athletic species. Being able to do a backflip without the use of the force is considered an impressive skill.

They weigh a lot. This means that things that aren’t specialised for carrying large loads are going to have a poor time carrying them, they are capable of breaking seats, if they can even fit in them. Furthermore, due to the smaller surface area of their stump feet, they can break a weak piece of flooring if not careful. It also means that when they fall down, it’s much more serious if they don’t fall right, such as on their hands or backside. Falling straight onto anything other than those two can give the risk of serious injuries, such as spinal damage if on their backs.

The Songful Ones don’t have any fingers, therefore they can’t invent the way humans can unless they’re force-sensitive, or have been given metallic cyborg hands. Though they can rely on their overwhelming strength, they can’t shrug off too many blaster bolts before going down. This makes them only ever more reliant on hit-and-run tactics. This also means they can’t invent anything beyond pounding something into shape, making them reliant on other species to take them beyond their own world.

CULTURE

Diet:
Both races are physically incapable of swallowing solid foods. They often drink from pastes and liquids. Meat and vegetables are often boiled into soups for their nutrients. Said soup or other liquidated substances are then poured into their “mouths”. They are Omnivores.

Communication: Both species communicate through whistling, their species’ name “The Songful Ones” is derived from this, as it’s the closest translation from their language. This means they need an automatic translator or a droid to speak to most other species, as they physically can’t speak the common language, and most others don’t have the capacity to whistle their language. They can understand other people’s language when taught, though.

Technology level: Stone. Due to their stumps for hands, their inventions are somewhat limited.

Religion/Beliefs: Religion is a foreign concept to them, as they mostly just get on with their lives. They believe in strength above all else and will follow the strongest member of their tribe.

General behaviour: The Songful Ones are a nomadic/tribal species. Some stay in a specific area, while others travel around. They believe in strength and courage, the stronger you are, the more impressed they will be. They’re also almost childishly giddy about things they cannot do, making them rather easy to impress for spacefaring nations. They have no value of family, they mate, and they put whatever children they may create into a group that is taught by the elders. Since they’re given from birth, they don’t know who their parents are, and the parents don’t know which ones are theirs. Taking a child from a tribe is as easy as buying or winning one, depending on how much there are. High amounts of children mean there’s less chance of the tribe dying out.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Songful Ones are a species from deep in the Unknown Regions. They were originally an advanced species from another galaxy, however their ship could only bring them so far without systems shutting down. It found a suitable planet for them, high-gravity, suitable breathing environment, then dumped them there. It then promptly flew into a random sun due to a navigational error. This caused them to become stranded, and since they did not have hands, they couldn't create more, they relied on the things in the ship. They have not been seen or catalogued for many millennia until recently, whereupon said faction dispatched droids capable of surviving their high-gravity planet, to learn their language for them. Though at first the people mistook them for strange abominations and pierced through not a few of them out of fright from being surprised, they eventually became more curious than scared. Not a few years passed trying to learn the species' complex language, they were finally able to translate said vocal communications and make contact from those of the planet, and ones above their sky. Knowledge of what happened before said incursion isn't very well known, not even to the Songful Ones themselves, as they're not ones to write things down.

What IS known is that there are many tribes scattered throughout the massive planet that they call home. They often enjoy subjugating the local wildlife for mounts and pets, often a whole tribe may use a singular type of animal for livestock and travel. One such example is the mighty "Sssswt", a stocky, flat shaggy-furred creature whose face resembles a wide bison with eight legs, standing at around three metals tall and well over fifteen meters in length, their bites can crush speeders.

The Songful Ones have since been seen as somewhat useful to those that know of them the Galaxy, should they be able to procure some from their homeworld. Their ability to carry far more than many of the known species, as well as their powerful (though rare) telekinetics when a force user is taken. Furthermore, they can switch between being heavy shock-troops or cavalry/mounted divisions. The only problem is sending a shuttle capable of surviving the gravity's high gravity, as well as being able to navigate the planet's vastness, where a friendly tribe may have moved on and left a more neutral one in their place, negating deals made even a few days ago. nonetheless, some have managed to find themselves transported to new lands and factions.

First, I wanna say that this is an interesting sub, and a pretty cool concept.

While not important to this sub, you are missing the Permissions and Links tabs at the beginning.

  • Permissions: [Please link any Marketplace purchase or similar approvals to use other Writers’ content as part of this submission.]
  • Links: [ Provide links to any relevant threads, characters, companies, locations, etc here. Canon or otherwise. Especially obscure references, or events important to the submission.]
You as also missing the Physical Information title.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Along with this, you'll need to change the Gender section. Chaos is PG-13, and the mention of certain things toes the line a bit too much.

You also say that "They are naturally inclined to ranged combat, and can take to a blaster when they’ve been given the chance (and equipment allowing them to use it)," but earlier in the sub state "Using ranged attacks is generally only used by force-wielders with telekinesis, as such it is seen as a sign of strength and prestige." These seem to contradict each other, and would be good to clarify.

Lastly, is there any canon basis for the ability to move an entire solar system? It's known that worlds can be moved, but I've never heard of anyone being able to move an entire system.

Hiya! I added a bit of explanation in the "They are naturally inclined" part, adding that they see being able to use ranged combat as on par with force powers, therefore, they'll see it as prestigious, if that's not good enough, then I can revise further.

With the canon basis, the Death Star was able to be moved in hyperspace, so I think size is less of an issue, but more of the logistics of having to COVER the whole solar system in strategic points to cover the whole area, then adding hyperspace drives to points where the whole system can be moved, if that's an acceptable answer, then I could change it to them deliberately bringing the sun along to keep their warmth during the trek, as well as the other planets to stop the whole planets-out-of-alignment issue?

Alright, thank you for clearing things up, and changing that thing. Those changes look good. The system being hyperspaced though, from what I can tell, wouldn't work. While individual, moonsized objects can be moved through hyperspace, like the Death Stars, pulling an entire system through hyperspace is pushing it. It has been noted in both current canons that gravity wells will pull ships out of hyperspace, but the bigger issue is that, from what we can tell from canon, hyperdrives have to be mounted physically to whatever they are moving through hyperspace. So moving a system, at least by our understanding, seems to be impossible. A possible solution though would be to say that they used a world ship type colony vessel. Another way could be a migratory fleet.

I'm not sure if that'd work, for it to be able to detect another planet suitable for terraforming in a system that is probably decrepit, not to mention the amount of time it'd take for them to actually terraform it while being relatively unknown to the galaxy while also being in a space station for them to evolve in such a manner that makes them a hunter society, as well as the ship landing upon said planet without either the songful ones or others being able to grab who knows what within it

The ship could be designed to either seek out livable planets, or those easy to terraform. It could possible be a final function to have the ship, after landing, with its last power doing so in a way that renders the ship inoperable, where it either sets up the planet, or sets up the colony. Planets appearing from outside of the galaxy would, in the end, break the no extra-galactic locations rule, as mentioned in the linked Codex rules under the planet creation rules section, though the species can be extra-galactic.

I'm sorry, I must have missed that rule, the species history has been altered to be more site-friendly as well as allowing them to still hold to some of my vision

Righteo, added a little bit more to the start of the first paragraph, if that's fine, then it should be good and ready
