"This weapon is your life."
The adage is drilled into the mind of every Jedi Padawan from the moment they construct their own lightsaber. The signature weapon of the Jedi, each kyber-powered energy sword is unique to its maker. Able to cut through blast doors, deflect blaster bolts, and penetrate nearly any armor, those who wield a lightsaber are justly feared as combatants with terrifying power.
Jedi Master Hiro Okuomoto himself was skilled in both the blade and the sport, rumored by some to be a potential Jedi Battlemaster in the future. He wielded the blade as if it were an extension of his own body, with a degree of art and finesse that was unlike any other Jedi duelist. Yet even Jedi can fall, and it is the greatest who falls the furthest. Hiro Okuomoto, consumed with a burning curiosity for the mysteries of the force, journeyed into the netherworld; and the journey unmade him.
His lightsaber and the crystal inside it shattered, and his perspective of the force and the galaxy expanded and remade, Hiro became disaffected from the Order and disappeared from his life as a Jedi, the archives writing him off as have passed on to the Force over the course of his journeys. But in truth, the Jedi was very much alive, if different. Hiro took on a new name, abandoning his own, and becoming the Nomad; and not being able to bear the weapon of an Order he no longer supported, he reforged his lightsaber with its shattered crystal to become the Sinner's Ruse, an especially powerful blaster pistol infused with the power of his broken but still-functional kyber crystal.
Like its master, it is a weapon borne of transgression. It is the Sinner's Ruse.
