- Whisper's armor is a very light blend of thermal and kinetic projectile resistant fabrics with a plate carrier that bears flexi-metal inserts backed by a kinetic absorbtion anti-spall layer.
- It features an articulated scanner arm that incorporates a life-form scanner, a doppraymagno scanner, and a molecular tracking sniffer.
- It also features a stealth field generator of modern design.
- Cloaked in Shadows: A stealth field generator is incorporated into the armor. This generator is of recent production, boasting an ability to mask the wearer's visual, thermal and aural signature in short bursts for up to ten minutes at a time. This system is sophisticated enough to mask even a wearer who is undergoing violent changes in movement and velocity, such as sprinting and jumping. In optimal conditions (a dark environment with no adverse atmospherics) a wearer is very difficult to detect without use of specialized sensors.
- The Hunter's Eye: The articulated sensor arm is carried on the wearer's back alongside a very simple first-degree droid brain, packaged with the power unit that facilitates both it and the stealth field generator's use. This sensor arm is programmed to aid the wearer by scanning most commonly for life forms. It is capable of detecting living beings at a distance, but also through solid barriers at close range utilizing a sophisticated penetrating sensor package. The barrier penetration sensors can be useful for other tasks in fringe cases, such as to medically or technically diagnose an internal problem with a being or object. In addition, the sensor arm is equipped with a molecular tracking sniffer capable of guiding the user to their intended quarry. It requires an item bearing the target's pheromones to be presented, such as clothing they have worn or their bodily fluids. If it can match those pheromones to ones recently left it will create a trail for the user to follow.
- Selective Operation: With the stealth field generator and the sensor arm utilizing the same power supply unit, both are of sufficient draw that they cannot be utilized at the same time. The wearer must actively decide whether seeing or not being seen is more important.
- Sudden Appearance: Firing a weapon (be it blaster-based, or chemically propelled) while cloaked generates a spike of heat that the stealth field generator is unable to contain, immediately causing it to disable itself as a safeguard for a number of minutes while the power supply unit dissipates the excess heat.
- Smart Systems?: The sensor array being attached to a simple droid brain, with the arm focusing on a lifeform once it has been detected has some amount of draw backs: The sensor array as sophisticated as it is, is only capable of detection in a small cone projected from the head of the arm. This is a much more limited field of view than if the sensor package were able to detect through the user's entire field of view. In addition with it being an artificial intelligence, it may be possible to fool the sensor arm into believing that it is not a life-form detected when it is performing its barrier penetrating function with the right kind of ingenuity.
- Bright Flashy Light: When the sensor arm is in operation, the sensor - which is a central bulb surrounded by three apparatuses that resemble flower petals - projects a strong orange light, with the petals around the bulb sometimes shuttering or spinning as it performs its function. It is not subtle during its operation.
- Unshielded Electronics: When faced with ion or emp weaponry, the systems incorporated into the armor are incredibly vulnerable. Damage by such weapons can disable the advanced features of the armor entirely until they are repaired.
Whisper has performed duties in deniable operations for much of their life for various parties. As an operative in a field that has a very limited life expectancy, they have picked up a number of devices over the years to give them an edge on their quarry. The assorted armor and its specialty functions are less of a cohesive unit and more of a collection of gear put together over their career, modified to work in concert with one another.
