SETTING INFORMATION
Astronomical Location NameThe Sable Verge
ClassificationNebula / Stellar Graveyard
LocationOuter Rim frontier, abutting the Unknown Regions
Rotational PeriodN/A
Orbital PeriodN/A
SizeMassive
AffiliationNone. Transient cultists and scavenger crews pass through.
PopulationInsignificant
DemographicsN/A (only visitors and wanderers).
AccessibilityExtremely difficult. Hyperspace lanes fray, storms disrupt nav, charts unreliable.
DescriptionA liminal stretch of collapsed suns and whispering mists. Haunted by echoes and ruin.

POINTS OF INTEREST
NameTypeSummary
Outpost Ruined Jedi StationHigh Republic watchpost. Built to study the anomaly. Collapsed halls, broken holocrons, warped archives. Hazardous decompression and corrupted droids remain.
Fractured WayUnstable Hyperspace CorridorFickle passage that sometimes opens safe, sometimes collapses mid-transit.
Ashfield WrecksDebris FieldGraveyard of ships. Republic survey craft, smugglers, and a scarred Sith cruiser drift in static storms.
Whispering GulfDistorted VergeA vast hollow where the Force twists perception and overwhelms ship systems. Navigators report voices echoing through the mist, while sensors and power grids collapse into dead-zones. The Force can still be felt here, but it behaves erratically: impressions muffled, distorted, or overamplified depending on the traveler's state of mind.
Gloam Spoke RelayFreeport WaystationNeutral outpost on the edge of the Verge. Offers fuel, patch repairs, rumor trade, and staging for expeditions.

NEXUS INFORMATION
Nexus NameThe Whispering Gulf
Nexus AlignmentNeutral / Unstable (both Light and Dark impressions manifest depending on the visitor's state of mind).
SizeMedium (a vast hollow region inside the nebula).
StrengthModerate (its pull is undeniable but fluctuates; powerful enough to alter perceptions, yet mutable under extreme events).
AccessibilityExtremely difficult. The Gulf lies inside unstable hyperspace currents. Charts fray, storms disrupt approach, and wreckage from failed expeditions drifts around it. No stable beacon exists, only rumor, instinct, and chance navigation.
DescriptionA hollow pocket within the Sable Verge where technology and the Force both behave erratically. Ships report sensors dying, systems shorting, and crew disorientation, while Force-users experience visions bleeding into waking reality.

NEXUS EFFECTS
EffectDescription
DisorientationNavigators hear phantom instructions, sometimes guiding safe passage, sometimes leading astray.
Whispers in the ForceAll within the Gulf hear voices, lost loved ones, ancient Jedi warnings, or Sith temptations. Force-sensitives perceive them most vividly.
Dead ZonesLocalized hollows where electronics fail outright, sensors go blind, power dies, and navigation collapses into static. For Force-sensitives, impressions may be muffled or twisted, powers may falter unpredictably, or surge with inexplicable amplification. The effect is not suppression, but distortion.
Emotional AmplificationFear, longing, guilt, or hope resonate unnaturally. Strong emotions are magnified and can overwhelm the weak-willed.

POINTS OF INTEREST (WITHIN THE GULF)
NameSummary
Central HollowThe deepest part of the Gulf, where distortion is most severe. Electronics here completely fail, ships lose power, sensors register only static, and navigation becomes impossible. For Force-sensitives, impressions crash in as overwhelming whispers; powers sputter, misfire, or flare with unintended amplification. The result is volatility.
Listening StonesJagged meteor-like structures where survivors carve messages, warnings, or prayers before attempting escape.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
EraEvent
High RepublicJedi established an outpost specifically to study the anomaly, logging erratic Force readings and unexplained equipment failures. Records describe electronic collapse and crew hallucinations, with voices urging them to "turn back." They labeled the region a "Dead Zone" because technology inside it consistently failed: sensors went blind, power died, and navigation collapsed into static.
FallOutpost fell silent after a final warning of "a shadow rising between the stars."
SilenceRepublic reclamation attempts ended in disaster. Ships reported total system crashes and crews succumbing to hysteria. With losses mounting, the Verge was officially marked "cursed."
Modern EraCultists, salvagers, and mystics return, chasing relics and forbidden knowledge.

Whispering GulfNull PocketA vast hollow where the Force carries voices and intrusive visions.
The mention of it being a Null Pocket, and how the force carries voices. I would like this to be expanded a bit. Is it only named Null Pocket, or is there actually a nullification zone within the force? And these voices. What would the voices be doing or acting upon the individuals who are there. And do the affect Force Users more heavily than others?

The reason I ask is this could be fairly closely related to a Vergence/Nexus within the force. If that is the case then I would need you to provide me the required information for a nexus within your submission.

Added some info does that help?

Alright. We are going to dig into this.

Overall? the submission is rather vague in its history, and point of interests. This being a Nexus of some kind means that I am going to need more of an explanation of what exactly happened. What is the lore of it more than just a couple sentences. This reads like a document summary. Not the lore of a location that would have something more than. "Moon's Haunted." I want to see more of what is there. Sell it like I am there.

As for the force Nexus, the point of contention I have is this.

NEXUS EFFECTS
  • Disorientation: Navigators hear phantom instructions, sometimes guiding safe passage, sometimes leading astray.
  • Whispers in the Force: All within the Gulf hear voices, past loved ones, ancient Jedi warnings, or Sith temptations. Force-sensitives perceive them more vividly, as if the Gulf dredges up their subconscious.
  • Null Pockets: Certain zones feel like localized voids, where the Force is thin, muffled, or inverted. Force powers may falter unpredictably in these eddies.
  • Emotional Amplification: Fear, longing, guilt, or hope is heightened. Strong emotions resonate in the mist and can overwhelm the weak-willed.
In no canon or legends contexts does a Nexus completely nullify the force. As its tied to Void Stone or the passive/active use of the force by a being. The closest examples of what you have here are a Disturbance in the force, and a Wound in the force.

So here is the balance I have for you. Remove mentions of force nullification, and instead replace it with the force being "Distorted" and "Warped" to the point where it causes problems for all people, but even more so people who are sensitive to the force. This distortion can hempen the ability to use the force via "strong emotions" or "overwhelming energy." However, it cannot be Nullification.

Also, I would like an explanation on what this line is.

What does "Inverted" mean?

The intent with this submission is that the Sable Verge remains deliberately vague and flexible for storytelling use. I wasn't aiming to define it as a 'Nexus' in the strict sense, but since the description overlapped with Nexus traits I expanded the entry to include that framework.

The central idea is that the Verge has always been an anomaly, as far back as anyone knows, and that's why the Jedi outpost was originally established: to study its irregularities. Using the Force here doesn't function in a "normal" way; impressions are muffled, twisted, or overwhelming, which is why early Jedi records struggled to categorize it.

To clarify: the term 'Null' is not meant to imply Force suppression or erasure. 'Force nullification strongest', is meant to indicate the force anomaly is causing the strongest point of contention for nullifying electronics.

It refers to how the anomaly disrupts technology, sensors, navigation, and ship systems collapsing into dead-zones whilst at the same time the Force feels distorted and unpredictable.

The vagueness of history is intentional, so that the site stays open-ended and adaptable rather than locked into a single rigid explanation. I want to encurage speculative rp around the location. There is no detailed history to be had on the why. It just is.

I can however see why there is confusion.
Here are some suggestions I can change since I don't want to keep editing the main body, and would rather just edit once.

Whispering Gulf - Distorted Verge
A vast hollow where the Force twists perception and overwhelms ship systems. Navigators report voices echoing through the mist, while sensors and power grids collapse into dead-zones. The Force can still be felt here, but it behaves erratically. impressions muffled, distorted, or overamplified depending on the traveler's state of mind.

Null Pockets: Certain zones feel like localized voids, where the Force is thin, muffled, or inverted. Force powers may falter unpredictably in these eddies.

Suggested Change
Null Pockets: Localized hollows where nothing works quite right. Electronics go null and power sputters, sensors die, and navigation systems collapse into static.

For those attuned to the Force, these areas feel warped rather than
absent. Impressions may come through muffled or twisted, powers may falter unpredictably, or surge with inexplicable amplification. The effect isn't suppression, but rather a distortion that makes connecting with the Force unreliable and rarely in the way a user intends.

Original
Central Hollow: The deepest part of the Gulf, where the whispers are loudest and Force nullification strongest. Many ships drift powerless here until they vanish.

Suggested Change
Central Hollow: The deepest part of the Gulf, where the anomaly is most severe. Electronics here go completely null, as ships tend to lose power, sensors register only static, and navigation is near impossible.

For Force-sensitives, the distortion reaches its peak: impressions crash in as overwhelming whispers, powers may be difficult to enact as intended or sputter or flare with sudden, unintended amplification.

The result is volatility in a place where neither technology nor the Force can be trusted to behave as expected.

Original (History)
During the High Republic, the Jedi outpost in the Verge logged anomalous Force readings and designated the hollow as a "Null Pocket." Their records describe crew reporting hallucinations and voices urging them to "turn back."

Subsequent Republic reclamation attempts failed , ships reported system crashes and crews succumbing to hysteria. With losses mounting, the Verge was officially marked 'cursed'.

Their records describe both electronic collapse and crew hallucinations, voices urging them to "turn back." They labeled the region a "Null Pocket" because technology inside it stops working ; sensors fail, power dies, and navigation goes blind.

Alright, I see where the confusion is here.

Distortion of the force is fine. its a disturbance and so it may not work as intended. That is fine. The problem that comes up is that from reading it, the application of "Null" very heavily insinuates that its "nullification" of some kind. Which is where I had been led to believe that it was a "Null Force" not a complete shut down or disturbance of electronics and navigation systems.

I would be fine with the edits provided, so long as applications specifically of the word "Null" were removed to avoid confusion. If I am finding it difficult with the chosen wording, I know someone else will.

Deal?

Some vague descriptions are fine but there comes a point where it may be too vague and members won't be able to interact because they don't understand what's written. Cleaning up the wording in regards to "null" was the wisest choice because it was not being interpreted correctly by any of the Judges who looked at it.

The Nexus aspect is also wise because if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck... Well it's a duck. We shouldn't complicate things further than they need to be.

It does look better now, however, if we run into issues later on (no matter how unlikely) I'll need to pull this for further clarification.

For now...[APPROVED]
