STRENGTHS

Buzzkill: The Ronin’s songsteel blade makes it incredibly durable in combat, even when pitted against the vaunted cutting ability of a lightsaber. The edge itself has been further honed and hardened via a variety of methods, giving it a mono-molecular thickness and incredible cutting ability even when the vibration generator is not active.
It Slices, It Dices...: Ultrasonic Vibration Generator causes the blade to vibrate at extremely high speeds, allowing it to cut through flesh, textiles and even some metals (such as durasteel) with a surprising amount of ease. This is further enhanced by the aforementioned mono-molecular edge.
The Silent Treatment: The ultrasonic vibration generator appears to remove the distinctive whine that most vibroweapons emit while actively employed.
Stay Your Blade: The sheath is composed of hardened duraplast with a nightsahdow finish, providing a rugged amount of protection against the elements, wear and tear, EMP/ION and cursory scans while the weapon remains sheathed.

WEAKNESSES

Ohm-y!: Suffers from the same weaknesses as most vibro-weapons, namely it conducts electricity frighteningly well. While the textured grip is designed to protect the user from electrocution, the energy cell, ultrasonic vibration generator and shockwave generator are extremely sensitive to sudden surges, risking the chance of the weapon detonating.
...It doesn’t make Julienne Fries: Hardy materials such as Phrik, Songsteel, Beskar or their equivalents prove to be much more resistant to this weapon than durasteel. When brought against such materials the best this knife can achieve is to gouge the outermost layers.
Sound It Out: The Ultrasonic vibration generator is still audible in the higher frequency ranges, making it not quite as silent as it might otherwise present. Species with ultra sensitive hearing, such as Sullustans or Bith for example, might still be able to register a faint hum. The latter even experiencing headaches in its presence.
The Not So Sworded Truth: For obvious reasons, the sheath only provides these advantages when the weapon is, y’know, sheathed. The overall EMP/ION protection provided by the sheath is also only rated against mild-to-moderate exposure, likewise the nightshadow only protects against cursory passive scans. Active or Military grade sensors will pick these weapons up without too much trouble.

DESCRIPTION

Know your enemy, know his sword.

As a general rule, when a shady criminal organisation asks you to make them a custom line of murder tools, you make them a karking custom line of murder tools and thank them for their patronage. That’s not just good business, that’s smart living. With a keen and pointed emphasis on the living part.
While the Ronin project initially presented itself as straightforward on the surface, the client’s insistence of incorporating traditional Atrisian forging methods into the manufacture of the blades complicated matters significantly. In the end, the final product is a combination of both time honoured classics and with the - pun slightly intended - cutting edge features of tomorrow. Folded songsteel, hardened and honed with a mono-molecular edge for exceptional cutting potential and overall durability. An almost silent, finely tuned Ultrasonic vibration generator to really make it sing - not that most folks would hear it, but it is the thought that counts, right?
