It had been years since Jax last been on Alderaan, he served as a watcher on the planet protecting the nobility and fighting off stragglers which were a surprising amount given that Alderaan was part of the Core Worlds. Yet, Jax was barely on the planet ever since his self-exposed exile. When Jax returned to the known galaxy, Jairdain Ismet-Thio Jairdain Ismet-Thio used her billions to expand on the house that Jax was given and transformed it into an estate. Even Jax's (Great?) Grandfather Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor helped out Jax a bit, yet Jax spent the past 13 years of his life away from politics, war, and such. He focused on having a stronger connection with the Force and spent his time in the Outer Rim defending the poor and downtrodden from bandit attacks and waged a one man war against the Hutt Cartels. So much so that Jax had a large price on his head.

Jax did slow down his activities at Jair's behest mainly because of their daughter. As much as Jax wanted to continue to fight for the Light and the people, he knew that he needed to raise their child. It was hard being a parent, Jax didn't know anything else other than being a Jedi, but he did his best to raise Jayna mostly on Courscant, Commendor, and Alderaan away from the neverending war and politics. Jax never seen the NJO in a while, he wondered if the GA thought he was dead. Now nearing 50, Jax lumbered out of bed and staring at the large window on top of the dresser. He was already to grow gray hairs and his face was starting to wrinkle.

Getting old was a natural part of life and Jair already accepted that Jax won't be living long. He was happy that Jayna inherited Jair's long life though. "Time to see what Jayna is up to," Jax said. Lately, he was starting to train his daughter as a Jedi or a Ronin as Jax labeled himself now and days given that he no longer affiliated himself with any Jedi Order. After putting on his clothing, Jax walked towards the gardens hopefully seeing Jayna train.

Jayna had an interesting first thirteen years. She spent a good portion of those years at her mother's home on Commenor. Some time in this Alderaan estate, owned by her father. And then of course there were travels here and there. None of her friends had traditional lives, so she had not seen anything wrong with how she was raised.

Both of her parents were strong in the Force, so it came as little surprise that Jayna had those talents as well. She was pleasantly surprised that she had not been guided towards the ways of the Jedi. It wasn't that she felt the Jedi were bad. But Jayna was strong willed. She wanted to be her own conscience. Jayna wanted to be a good person. But she wanted to be free. She certainly saw herself much more as a Han Solo than a Luke Skywalker.

When she had time to herself Jayna enjoyed spending time in the calm of the garden. Jayna needed the peace to conflict with her easily attained boredom. Though she was getting to the age where she hoped to be encouraged to explore the galaxy. For now however when she was restless Jayna would come to the garden and work on meditation techniques all the while plotting out how she would construct her lightsaber when the time came.

Jax took a deep breath taking in the encompassing unity of the Living Force. Over the years, Jax worked hard mediating and being in tune with the Force allowing life to seep through the estate and create a harmonious melody of the cycle of life. It was something that Jax tried to instill into Jayna, like he did to his past Padawans. Live in the moment and allow the Force to guide your actions and more importantly: Put your trust in the living force. To connect to the Force means to master oneself and have an affinity for the Force that surpasses even a Jedi Grandmaster. Never before Jax had become connected to the Force. It came at the expense of falling to the Dark Side and losing his connection to the Force for him to really appreciate the rhythm of life that the Force created.

He sensed Jayna mediating though the Jedi Master can also sense her unease. Walking towards Jayna, a smile formed on Jax's face as he saw his daughter trying to apply the lessons he taught her. "I'm glad you finally adjusted your posture," Jax smiled placing his hands behind his back. "But your connection to the Force is still wavering. You need to clear your mind, Jayna. Trust in the Force."

The presence of her father was always there when Jayna was staying on Alderaan. That being the case she rarely focused on it enough to know how close he was. The garden was filled with life and soothing to the girl which had made meditation a little easier here. Focus wasn't exactly Jayna's thing.

When she heard her father's voice Jayna opened her right eye only and turned her head slightly. It might appear as if she was trying to maintain her meditative state, but in actuality she was assessing if she should be getting ready for a lecture she would rather ignore. Meditation was good for getting out of parental speeches sometimes. It required all her focus after all.

Her father however seemed to know a little praise would get Jayna's attention and Force training was never something she would skip out on. "I still don't understand how sitting up straight is better for the Force," Jayna replied, opening her left eye and giving Jax her full attention. "But I am trying. I trust the Force. Sometimes I think it doesn't trust me yet. I am getting better though….right? As much as she hated lectures the guidance and approval of both her parents was very important to Jayna.

“Standing up makes you more likely to move around,” Jax replied placing his hands on his hips chuckling. “If you want the Force to flow through you, then you need to remain still and clear your mind.”

In many ways, Jayna reminded Jax of himself. Always had his mind elsewhere but the present, and always questioning when the answer was in his face. It took years for Jax to understand the Force and to understand the Force is to know nothing. No way Jayna will accept that for an answer.

“What do you think?” Jax replied. “The Force wants to come in and fill your mind and body with transcendence and understanding. To maintain that harmonious connection requires a clear mind and to accept that you know nothing.”

Jax walked closer kneeling down next to Jayna. “Close your eyes,” he said. “And breathe, just breathe. Don’t focus on what might happen. Put your mind in the present. Reach out with your feelings and feel the force around you.”

A smirk formed on Jayna's face at her father's comment about standing. His tone made it obvious to be a joke. Though if Jayna was honest with herself it was a true joke. If she were standing the likelihood of her moving was ten fold at least.

"And the only way to use the Force and not be claimed by the Darkside is to let it flow through me?" Jayna questioned for the umpteenth time. She never liked the answer. Giving over of herself was not something she was ever very comfortable with. Perhaps that thought coupled with some freedom was why she was nowhere near as trained as she would be if she lived her life with the Jedi.

Jayna felt her father asking her opinion of her progress was a trap so she merely hummed and waited for him to move along to the inevitable lesson that was to come. "Dad at thirteen how easy was a clear mind and admitting any ignorance?" Jayna asked sarcastically, though Jax would know it was not intended harshly.

However much she didn't like it Jayna did as her father asked. Mostly because if she didn't master meditation he was never going to let her build her own weapon. Though she has been training at least. With a deep half sigh and half cleansing breath Jayna closed her eyes and just let the Force in. She wasn't sure what the true lesson her father would present to her today was, but she would prove she could be patient until he revealed it.

"No," Jax said sitting next to Jayna. "A clear mind allows you to connect with the Force. Jedi do this and so do the Sith. It's what you do with the Force is what separates you from a Darksider. A Sith sees the Force as tool an instrument which they use to destroy and torment others. But after many millennia of careful study, the Force isn't a tool at all. But life a Jedi sees that and works in tandem with the Force."

Jax chuckled when Jayna asked if keeping a clear mind was tough at 13. "Not at all," he said. "But I eventually learned. There's a reason why Jedi often start young. To instill those habits early. It took me years to finally clear my mind and let me tell you It was not easy."

The Jedi Master sighed. "Now breathe and reach out." Jax continued. "What do you feel?"

Jayna did her best to avoid rolling her eyes at the usual Jedi/Sith lecture. Jayna felt almost no pull of the dark side. Certainly she was not in danger of becoming a Sith by her own will. The young girl felt her father knew this and shouldn't be so preachy. Especially since Jayna also had little desire to become a Jedi either. She felt bad disappointing her father, and she wasn't opposed to learning their skills. But there was something about giving oneself completely to the Force that made Jayna uncomfortable. Maybe things would change as she got older. Luckily these days there was no such thing as "too old to start the training".

The daughter was not surprised to hear her father state it took him time to learn balance. It was a little surprising that he seemed to approve of the starting young mentality. Would Jayna become who she really was at heart if she joined the Jedi as a toddler? Or would she become who the Jedi and the Force wanted her to be? She worked like hell to be her own person first. Thankfully her mother supported this, and her father while giving continuous nudges towards the Jedi accepted it.

Jayna was told to breathe and she did so. Meditation was one of the first things she was taught. It was getting more difficult as she discovered more and more distractions of the galaxy, but she managed for the most part. "Your frustration that I won't commit to the Jedi, the plants, the bugs, the rodents trying to make the garden a feast. My desire to make the best lightsaber in the galaxy…" a smirk formed on her lips with the last. If dad's nudges we're always towards the Jedi life, Jayna was just as consistent in her mention of a weapon.

"Jayna," Jax smiled placing his hands on his hips. "How many times do I have to tell you that I never expected you to be a Jedi. I'm training you in the ways of the Jedi so you can be better prepared for what's to come in the Galaxy. What you do with the skills I'm instilling is up to you. If the Force is guiding you to become a Jedi, then act on it. If not, then that's okay too."

He sat next to his daughter smiling. "You need to focus and allow the Force to communicate with you and more importantly since I know you struggle with this: Listen."

Jax playfully poked Jayna's forehead. "Until I see more improvement in your Lightsaber skills, you're gonna stick with that training saber of yours ya hear me?"
