The Results of Training

Sochi had made her way to the Combat Training Center. She had been wanting more practice in form II. She always exuded patience, and had a professional aura about her when it came to training. She wanted to be the Jedi that upheld the code at all times. Thus was her sudden thirst for training, to become better, and seek out more knowledge. Combat wasn't really her thing, but she nevertheless wanted to be proficient enough so that if the need arises, she was more than prepared. She entered into a private room, hopefully awaiting the arrival of another Jedi that she could spar with. She had made it public a few days before that she was in need of a sparring partner. She was always about business, and the task at hand, but she wasn't against getting to know others. It was hard for her to connect, as she was always quiet, and when she would speak it was only a few words at one time.

She went to the center of the room, and began to meditate while she waited the arrival of another. She sat down in a Indian position, back facing the door. Her eyes were closed, and she began to strengthen her connection to the force. Trying to enhance her focus for this upcoming event.

Vulpesen had received the notice of a padawan wanting a spar, and being rather new to his rank, he figured that it would be good to get some practice in for himself. Something that wasn't out in the field, after all, without having to worry about death it would be easier to study movements and learn from his opponents attacks.

Walking into the training room, Vulpesen stretched and yawned, feeling his back pop a few times. Where as Sochi Ru tended to be all business, Vulpesen was fairly laid back in his mannerisms. Something that had come to be after he had become comfortable at the temple. "Salutations." As he finished his stretch, he greeted the Togruta and walked forward. He'd done his research and found it easy to identify her from the other jedi within the room. "You must be @[member="Sochi Ru"]." He would have offered his hand, but she was currently facing away from him, making such an action foolish looking should she fail to notice. Yes, she was different indeed. While she meditated quietly he had always done so with action, using his movements to bring him closer to the force. How strange that they both followed the second form of combat. Though, he did enjoy switching around and preferred using the newer Makashi variations which used more unconventional approaches to battle.

She felt the presence of another enter the room, she handy opened her eyes yet when he greeted her. As he got closer to her she began to come out of her meditation slowly, almost simultaneously when he said, "You must be Sochi Ru." She slowly got up and turned to formally greet him. Her long brown Robes, which covered a black shirt, and long, brown skirt moved as she turned her body. She had a small smile on her face. "I am, greetings. You must be Jedi knight Vulpesen." She said softly, and slowly. She had heard of him, but never had the chance to actually speak with him. All she knew was that he had just attained the rank of knight. "I must say congratulations on your promotion," she said slightly bowing, her montrals aimed right above his head. When she came back out of her recent bow, she stood back up with a professional, and calm demeanor.

"I'm glad you were able to join me today, I hope it didn't interfere with anything important on your schedule," she said softly, and motioning with her hands as she talked. After she had poke, her hands would retreat back into a interlocked position in front of her. She wanted to, at all times, uphold the Jedi Code, and all its tenets. To her that's what made a good Jedi. Some might say she payed too much attention to it, but she still followed it no matter what.

Vulpesen smiled at her congratulations, nodding his head in thanks. "I can only hope that I can use it to bring my dreams of peace to life." He easily noticed her position and movements. Having been raised as a true grey jedi, he realized that he could never adhere to every tenet, simply the ones that were paramount to keep him from straying from the path of light. Then again, that was fairly obvious. Although his hands clasped in a folded position, his index fingers formed a steeple. Sure the position was comfortable but it also showed that he was just a bit more ready to take action than others. His clothing also marked him from the crowd as he wore his black jacket, instead of the usual robes. Some might say he looked more like a smuggler than a jedi, but he always took the good of others into consideration. Such was the thing that had made his choice so long ago.

"As for interference, I'm afraid the only thing you've done is taken away some time that would likely be used up by the incessant begging of chitliks and other creatures. In a way, I suppose you've saved me." He smiled as he thought about the pets he kept with him, and though the words were a joke, he was fairly certain they would all tackle him when he got back. Still, it was good to finally be away from his pets and his books and focus on a physical pursuit more than a mental one. Reaching into his coat, he twisted his saberstaff to disconnect it, producing a single hilt from his coat while he kept the other in it's usual place. He'd taken the time before coming to replace his crystals with a practice gem, after all, he doubted that @[member="Sochi Ru"] would enjoy having her lekku sliced off by a lethal blade.

She nodded, as well, smiling as he when he said that he hoped to use his new promotion to bring his dreams of peace to life. That was definitely a good answer, one that had wisdom behind it. Ru was sure that he would met his goal judging from his attitude of course. She noticed his use of a jacket, and he did indeed not appear to be a Jedi, which wasn't bad. It was indeed quite a strategy. Some sentients weren't as friendly to the Jedi, but would be if one didn't appear to be one. She looked back up at him, his next statement would draw a smile chuckled from her. "Then it was my pleasure to save your life Jedi Knight Vulpesen." She said nodding at his joke, and telling one of her own. Though comedy wasn't her thing, she only hoped he had gotten it. She motioned over to the area where they would indeed draw their blades, "I'm assuming we should get right to the point then? Him?" She said walking slowly to the opposite side of the room. She was going to be practicing Form II: Makashi, and probably practice Form III: Soresu. She didn't wanna waste any more time, that would be viable for them both to learn and gain experience from.

Vulpesen chuckled and followed her motion to the dueling space. "Sounds like a good idea." He grinned and ignited the golden blade, holding it in front of him before executing the makashi flourish. "Good luck." His voice was polite yet playful as he took the customary low guard, showing a confident posture as he waited for her attack. He might have been on many missions and been a member of the Army of Light, but Vulpesen was still a reactive fighter. To strike first was against his nature. He would wait for his opponents move, and use it to dictate his actions. Of course, it would be a good idea to tell her that, lest they stand still forever. "I shall give you the first strike."

@[member="Sochi Ru"]

She stood on the opposite end of the dueling area, she could only smile when her opponent opened with a Makashi Flourish, "Ahh you are also a Form II practitioner, interesting." She said softly, praising him. She bowed before him to show her respect where it was due. It would seem that she would be the one on the offensive, him standing there only meant he was waiting to to see her moves, he was anticipating, atleast that's what she assumed. She grabbed her lightsaber hilt from her belt. Igniting it, and standing in the Makashi opening stance, her saber was held at her side, the blade pointed down, and her feet were shoulder width apart. Her lightsaber her a blue glow over her robes. She nodded slightly when he told her she could have first strike. She slowly approached making quick use of the footwork to close in. She began to lightly jog, and threw out her hand for a force attack, one that wouldn't prove harmful. It was set up to be used a feint. The force attack would only move his clothes around lightly, but one would know. Using this attack to catch him off guard, and she used the force to enhance her speed, and she quickly brought up her saber, thrusting it at the mans abdomen.

@[member="Vulpesen"]

Vulpesen watched her movements carefully, and raised his hand upon seeing her use of the force. He responded with a strong force push, but found little resistance as Sochi's tactic would work against her. By using a weak push, Vulpesen's would easily overcome and push into her to create an off balance attack which he would then deflect with a clockwise circular blade sweep which then flowed into a counter jab at the middle of her chest. Despite the problematic start, @[member="Sochi Ru"]'s feint did manage to surprise Vulpesen in the regard that he was made to move forward with an counter attack he had earlier assumed he could have stood still for, thereby causing a minor imbalance in his own footwork..

She figured she would would be greeted with a stronger force attack, it did cause imbalance in her attack, and it was a good way to counter. Her attack was blocked of course, and she was threatened by a counter that was coming right for her chest. She sped up her movements naturally, and with the force to move to her right, dodging his attack. The elements she incorporated into her form, that she was now going to make use of would come from Form I. She applied her knowledge of Sun Djem, attempting to disarm his lightsaber from him while it was still in its jabbed posistion and she was beside it. While knowing usually that was preventable for Makashi duelist, she used her natural ability to speed up her movements, couple by force speed, to maneuver herself behind him. She saw an opening, but stayed at a distance, she performed a light diagonal cut directed actors his back.

@[member="Vulpesen"]

As soon as @[member="Sochi Ru"] left his sight, Vulpesen extended himself in the force, sensing her presence behind him. Realizing that her speed would make a block rather difficult, Vulpesen instead continued his thrust, turning it into a roll to escape the slash before turning back to face his opponent and resume his previous stance. "You'll find it rather difficult to trap a fox that easily." Vulpesen grinned and began to walk towards Sochi, a predatory look coming alive in his eyes.

She saw him maneuver himself out of the way of her attack, such was a Makahi Duelist. She retreated back into her Makashi stance, and watched on as he stood back up to face her, resuming his stance as well. It would seem he had taken on another form almost, his eyes had definitely changed. Her eyes widened when he made his comment, "Ahh yes, it would seem that way Jedi Knight Vulpesen." She replied, using her honorifics. She wondered if now she would be the one of the defense, as she had been on the offense this entire time. She kept her wits about her, only watching him as he walked towards her. She wondered what he was thinking.

@[member="Vulpesen"]

"A soldier who moves, his valor he proves. She who stands still, is a target to kill!" The mantra held a practiced tune as he spoke, continuing his slow advance on the apprentice. Upon the last words, he quickly dashed forward, using a downward slash from the right, then the left and finally a jab forward which he then turned into a spinning slash. Each movement was enhanced by the force, giving him speed and power as he struck with a precise ferocity. His creed was to let his opponent strike first, everything strike after that was up for grabs. His first master had taught him the basics of swordsmanship and the jedi training and missions had only enhanced his abilities. @[member="Sochi Ru"]

Her eyes widened when he dashed for her, the color of his golden blade was reflected in her eyes. She brought her blade up and barely blocked his first attack. She would have to think quickly, she had faced many opponents who would use strong attacks against her, in a sort of barrage manner, and Makashi wasn't a form where one would rely on strength in their attacks. She submitted herself to her form, and would use the momentum generated from his strong attacks, to help her flow right into the next block. Her movements would be come very fluid, and she would be able to block with accuracy. Though she didn't have room to make a counter she would just have to assume a defensive posture, applying some Form III maneuvers and reflexes into her defense. It was quite a sight indeed to see him fighting with such ferocity, one would have to admire such a feat. She was lucky she had knowledge of Form III, because she probably wouldn't last extremely long if this was a battle where she was always on the defensive.

As he struck, Vulpesen's lips turned up in a small grin. He was afraid of juyo for its closeness to the darkside, and thus he never practiced it. Still, he was well aware of his love of battle and used the excitement to his advantage, using the natural adrenaline to enhance his movements and senses. As @[member="Sochi Ru"] blocked each strike, he focused on her movements, keeping the change of form in mind.

Admirable though it was, Vulpesen didn't exactly enjoy her solid defense and decided to move out of conventional means, calling upon the force to launch an attack on her right shoulder, aiming to move her aside as he struck at her left side with a precise but reserved lunge. A battle was a dance, and the loser was the one who fell out of rhythm. As such, Vulpesen would do his best to disrupt the rythm of the padawan in front of him. Form three sword play was used to block the saber, not the force. It was Vulpesen's hope that his non physical attack would be enough to give him the opening he needed.

It would seem she anticipated an force attack, but couldnt do anything to defend against it while she blocked, she saw his hand approaching for a force based attack. To which hit her right shoulder. A smart move indeed, in fact he even beat her to it. He was just as cunning as she was. Something else they had in common. She was pushed back sightly being thrown off balance, and then she saw the impending attack, that was his blade being lunged at her. She would have to think quickly, as she didnt have much time. She could only disengage herself from the heat of it all by quickly taking some steps back, though she was aided by her speed, she barely dodged his attack. Once she retreated from the battle she landed on feet, crouched down. She took a deep breath and stood back up. One could definitely tell his pursued the path of a consular. She wasnt lacking within the force either. Simultaneously used both her hands to land two separate force attack. Her left pushing back his left leg, and her right aimed at his right shoulder, quickly to be followed by a more powerful surge aimed for his entire body in total.

@[member="Vulpesen"]

Vulpesen growled as she backed away, but called upon the force to block the first two assaults, only to be caught by the third which threw him back a little. Despite the predicament, Vulpesen didn't see any other attacks and thus he sent a push at the ground behind him to stop the movement. Landing gracefully to his feet Vlpesen held up his hand and sent an assault of force pulls and pushes, randomly attacking her body as he moved forward, his saber at his side. True, consular had been his first route, but he had eventually decided to become a sentinel, making him a natural blend of force and physical abilities. @[member="Sochi Ru"]

She was lucky that her assault made it through all the way. She took a deep breath, and exhaled. Though he found a way to stop himself she was rather relieved it succeeded. Though she wasn't quite prepared to counter his attack that would soon come. She let her focus slip for a second, she was able to anticipate his movements. Though her thinking should've been on point, she was thinking too much about the assault she landed, and wasn't quite prepared for how to deal with the after effects. She was pushed, and pulled. Being manipulated by his attacks. She could never regain her balance, because it would just be interrupted by his next attack. She had to think, she kept her eyes on his hands as best she could. His next force push she caught with her own. Exerting just as much as his did. It would seem they came to a stalemate. Holding each others abilities back. His pushing her hand back, and her regaining control, and pushing his back.

Vulpesen grinned as he finally caught her challenge, then increased his pressure. Daella had sent him through hell in training, causing him to split his focus on body and mind, lifting several large weights to the ceiling. Now, he wasn't reciting history or doing push ups. Everything was being focused in this force push. Vulpesen's glare intensified, becoming the intense gaze that had put his friends on edge when he had first joined the Jedi. Sure he'd learned to relax, but he was still bipolar enough to switch right to his old ways. "Let's see what you can do." Again he focused himself in the force, allowing the subtle hum of the lightsaber to focus his mind on task of repelling his opponent. @[member="Sochi Ru"]

As she remained focused, keeping her concentration she made note of the fact that her opponent was grinning. It would seem he enjoyed the challenge she was putting up. She hadn't been training this hard to not put up a good fight, she knew she had well developed her telekinetic abilities, though she hadn't mastered them. That wouldn't come until time had willed it so, but that wouldn't mean she wouldn't work her butt off to hone all of her skills. This was truly a test. She surprised herself every training session. It was a feat indeed that she was able to match this mans power. He had just been promoted, so he was truly skilled no doubt. All the while she thought to herself, her hand was slowly being pushed back as he intensified his power, stating that he wanted to see what she could truly do. She had no other choice but to trust her training, and center herself within the force, remaining calm, and patient. She pushed back brining her hand back to the position it was before, and then some. She had no idea how much longer she could participate within this stalemate.

@[member="Vulpesen"]

Vulpesen grinned widened as his hand gave way a bit. "Very good." Again, focus came through his mind and he began to step forward, calling to the force for help. Vulpesen's light saber remained at his side as he walked forward, increasing the pressure more and more. Her practice had paid off, giving her the ability to stand up to his assault. However, Vulpesen was still a higher rank for a reason and he had been raised to use the force ever since he could remember. "But is it good enough?" Taking a deep breath, Vulpesen finally allowed his focus in the force to split as he took his blade and hurled it at @[member="Sochi Ru"]'s chest. The split caused him to be slowly pushed back by her abilities, but that would likely change as he had just introduced a new factor.
