Some people might recognize this. Technically its called a Heavy Carrier, but according to the Anaxes War College System it would be a Battlecruiser.

Intent: To serve as the flagship of the Atrisian Navy as it fights for the Galactic Republic.
Manufacturer: Kuat Drive Yards

Description: The Rancor is the last surviving Revenge-class battlecruiser from the original Galactic Empire. When the plague began to spread, the planet Atrisia quarantined itself from all outside contact, and the Rancor was the instrument used to enforce the policy. Over the centuries the ship was modified and upgraded countless times to keep it fully operational, which allowed Atrisia to conquer nearby planets and defend itself from pirates and other enemies.
However the limited shipyard facilities above Atrisia could not handle ships of significant size, so many of the core parts of teh Rancor could not be fixed for long stretches of time. It only finally got the badly needed retrofit to fully bring it up to modern standards after Atrisia brokered a deal with the Republic to use their shipyards. Now the Rancor serves the Republic under the command of Vice Admiral Kahoshi, as does the rest of the Atrisian Navy.

Steep learning curve the first time or two, but after that it's simplicity itself. Looking forward to grading many more submissions from you.

The ship itself is extremely old, and only functional due to constant refits and the fact that materials are not as harshly affected in space as in an atmosphere under gravity. It was only brought up to full functionality after gaining access to the Republic's shipyards at Kuat.

It should be noted that the firepower is actually not extraordinary for its size, as it was primarily designed as a fighter carrier.

I quite like the idea of a refitted thousand-year-old ship being the biggest and baddest thing around.

The problem is, it's an awful precedent. If we grant this, we have to grant a refitted SSD, or whatever. That's my hesitation. Not the ten wings of starfighters (reasonable for a dedicated carrier, considering the Venator precedent).

Y'know what, the stats are fine, the rationale is somewhat better than paper-thin, I'll approve it. Abuse it and suffer.
