The R04 Ubrikkian repulsor lift
Intent: An advanced repulsor lift.
Development Thread: 'If necessary,'
Manufacturer: Ubrikkian Industries
Model: R04
Affiliation: Open market
Modularity: No
Production: Mass production
Material: Durasteel, subnuclear "knots", repulsor lift components
Description: The R04 Ubrikkian repulsor lifts prime function is the same as for all repulsor lifts. It is an anti-gravity technology capable of levitating an object. Using the subnuclear "knots" only found near black holes to create this effect the general technology is widely spread. With the top scientists of Ubrikkian Industries the R04 had been on the drawing desk for a long time they lacked the support of the management to offer it to the market. Until recently when the company new owner, Sempra Besadii Dhakun, offered funding necessary to actually start the production.
The R04 brings something new to the market. By seperating the core of the repulsor engine into two halves the power shooting out is much broader offering a more stabile flight. This leads to lesser need and/or smaller repulsor lifts in order to lift heavy objects, such as heavy veichles. The R04 thereby makes it possible to use more of the surface on its object for other components. Or to simply make them lighter. In the case of veichles that maintain the number of repulsor lifts as with older versions the R04 would contribute to increased speed when traveling uphill or when veichles need to plow itself through a normally tough terrain or perhaps pave solid obstacles "in the way."
The R04 simply makes its best appearance mounted on veichles requiring to operate in environments in rough mileu and the driver does not want to break for anything.
The simple but genious idea has a severe setback - since the repulsor shoots out its anti gravity beam in two arcs with degrees not optimal for straight pushing, the height of the lifting is reduced by half. Therefore lighter and faster veichles as well as other items interested in straight and high levetation (for example a turbolift) avoid the R04. But it is still ideal for heavier objects such as tanks or sailing barges.
