Public The Pulse That Ate the Stars

As the passengers and guards spoke, Merion focused on getting airborne. His sense of threat and possibility remained on edge, not least because of how close he felt he'd come to disaster by confronting that Sith. If not for Rellik's intervention...

Once the shuttle hit space he set a course for the moon and sealed himself in the cockpit alone. He opened a storage compartment and took out a faceless helmet and a set of robes, all in shades of dull yellow: the vespid carapace or cocoon-like shroud of a Cultist of the Central Isopter, which he was. He put it all on rapidly, even the enfolding outer robe, and felt much better about everything.

In minutes, the shuttle touched down at the rendezvous site, which Merion hadn't been briefed on but which he believed to be a secure information centre, suitable for containment, research, communication, situation management, all at a high command level. The shuttle now rested inside a hangar bay, and phrik blast doors sealed it shut. He opened the shuttle's boarding ramp and came out of the cockpit in his robes.

His job had been to get Terallo here; he had no idea what happened next.

Before I knew it, the shuttle had landed. True to Merion's word; we really did not have very far to go. Which made me wonder just where here was.

The ramp was lowered before I could get any response from Mister Kell in regards to my answers to his questions. Perhaps they would be similar questions that others will have for me at this place that I have been escorted to.

Quietly I rose to my feet and walked down the ramp. I am nervous, yet I cannot let that feeling take over me. And so I focus on keeping my breath steady. Lord Rellik will meet us shortly. I can only hope that he is not angry with me.

Ezorea lingered in the corridor as the shuttle settled, her steps unhurried when the ramp finally groaned open. She did not rush forward, but let her gaze rest on the first figure to descend.

The young woman's composure was practiced, but fragile beneath the surface. Each breath measured, each movement careful, as though holding herself together against an unseen weight. Ezorea could feel the strain in it, the nervous energy hidden beneath layers of restraint.

She said nothing, her posture quiet and unobtrusive, but she let her own steadiness soften outward. Not Force probing, not pressing, only a presence gentle, attentive, like a hand poised nearby without demanding touch. Whether the woman noticed or not, Ezorea offered the stillness of someone who saw her unease without judgment.

Violet eyes lingered on Liin for a moment longer before shifting to the others gathering. She remained silent, but the healer's empathy threaded through the air, subtle and patient, as if to remind that not all eyes here sought fault.

The ramp hissed open and Rellik stepped into view, a faint smile on his lips as though greeting old friends, it did not matter if he knew the individuals or not. "Miss Terallo," he said warmly as his eyes found her first, "you've done well. I know this has not been easy, but you are safe. And whatever questions remain" he glanced briefly at Wrathian, at Ezorea, at the Myrmidons "I believe we will all find our reasons to come together to solve them."

Closing the distance with a relaxed stride, offering a nod to each of the gathered figures. "Varlo. Whisper. Wraith. Your vigilance honors us all. Merion on point and dutiful, Thank you for bringing Miss Terallo. Wrathian…" his golden gaze lingered with respect more than suspicion, "…your presence here eases me. Fate or whill calls." His attention shifted at last to Ezorea, and the smile touched his eyes. "And you miss, I am glad you came. I am Diarch Rellik."

He paused only long enough to let the tension ease from the room, then continued with calm clarity.

"You have all felt it. The Force folding, bleeding into itself. None of us can ignore this. It has drawn us here, whether by its own will or something that wears its shape. But whatever it is, I intend to solve this problem with those present. We are innovators, leaders, great minds. Together I believe we can diagnose, and cure this ailment while also creating new and exciting things for the entire galaxy."

With a tilt of his chin with pride he looked out to them all. "The weave of the whills works in mysterious ways. It is up to us to discern those motions and mold it."

"Please accept my offer of partnership."

A woman apprached nearby, but said nothing. Instead she merely stared. However her eyes did not look judgemental. In some ways they were a little understanding. But she does not know what is happening, does she?

I turned my attention to Lord Rellik as he began to speak and listened to his words. Introductions and thanks were made; yet he spoke of other things too. Such as the Force folding and bleeding into itself. It is a puzzle that he wishes to solve. However I already know of part of the problem.

And so I spoke of it aloud.
"I do believe that I am to blame. My research and experiment has garnered unintended consequences. Just how or why they happen is still under study. But I am doing my best to keep these phenomenons from happening."

Rellik did not bristle at Liin's words, nor allow any shadow of disappointment to cross his features. Instead, the faint smile he'd entered with remained, tempered now with a quiet pride at her honesty.

"You might be the cause... but you are not to blame, Liin," he said, his tone carrying across the chamber with calm certainty. "You are to be commended. For few would admit such a truth so openly, and fewer still would strive to correct it."

He stepped closer, folding his hands behind his back. His golden eyes swept the others gathered, but his words were for Liin.

"The galaxy does not move forward without risk. Every discovery, every innovation, each carries the chance of failure, even disaster. But it also carries the chance to elevate us all. You have touched something that none before you dared approach. I have been fascinated by the same research before. Because you are a better scientist you have reached this conclusion first."

His gaze lingered on her for a moment, softer now. "And you will not bear this burden alone. If your work has opened this wound, then together we will study it, and together we will close it. That is the strength of the Diarchy, and of those who stand with us."

He drew a breath, his eyes flicking toward the shuttle where they would enter to travel to the source of the anomolies. And the distant horizon beyond them. "Already, others are being drawn here by instinct, by fear, by hope. Wrathian. Ezorea. Even strangers whose names I do not yet know. The weave of the Whills has set us on converging paths, and it falls to us to discern why."

"The answers will not be found standing still. They lie at the source of these disturbances, at the very heart of this wrongness we all feel. The Vault is already moving into position above the epicenter. I would ask you all to accompany me there."

His eyes swept across the gathered faces, tone warm but firm. "Together, we carry knowledge, skill, and strength enough to meet this. Whatever it is, we will not shy away from it. We will confront it and we will understand it."

Rellik turned slightly, gesturing toward the corridor that would carry them to the waiting ship. The faint smile touched his lips again before he began to move to leave and begin this mystery fully.

As I am the cause of these anomolies; I am surely the one to be blamed for them. And I take full responsibility. That was why I had admitted as much to Lord Rellik and the others. There is little doubt in my mind that he had his suspicions; which was why I was summoned to him.

I can feel my muscles tense some as he mentions something called the Vault, for I imagine it to be some highly secured cage. And before I had injected myself with the serum; I had a dream of some being warning me about a cage of my own making that I would become trapped within.

I find myself rather nervous with all of the attention. And the aprehension is there when it comes to seeing first hand of any of the chaos that I had caused. Holo-reports are one thing. Seeing it with one's own eyes is another. But still I must go if I am to get a proper study and research on just what trouble I had caused.

"
Is there a laboratory within this Vault?" I know that I could really use one. As well as a good tall glass of wine.

Rellik's smile lingered at her question, tempered by the nervous weight she carried. He shook his head faintly, not in denial, but to dismiss the fear behind her words.

"The Vault is no prison, Liin. It is one of my personal ships. One that can withstand immense punishment. And within its halls are laboratories. If you need space to work, to test, to study, you shall have it."

Turning, he gestured toward the corridor that led to the waiting transport. "Come. The engines are ready, and the anomaly awaits us. Whatever has been stirred whether by your work, or by forces older still we will face it together aboard the Vault."

His gaze swept briefly over Wrathian, Ezorea, and the Myrmidons before returning to Liin. The faint smile returned, warmer now.

"And I suspect we may even find that glass of wine you asked for."
