The Pompollumu Coast
KashyyykIt was just past sunset on a blindingly beautiful moonlit night nearer the Wookiee coast. The sounds of the midnight wildlife could be heard all around. Bugs and bees dancing in the starlight whilst waterlight flies and lantern beetles buzzed along the moonlight bay. All accompanied by the soft shimmering of the coastline's gentle breeze.
Here, amid the midnight orchestra of coastline wildlife and exotic sound, poor Daina McClaine of Silver Rest escaped the clutches of a terribly tall fern flower and walked out into the early white night. She scowled at the damp rocks along the warm watery coast that lead up the jetty trees. Massive wooden branches as big as a house that lanced out from the ridgeline rocks and overshot the coastal waters below. The daring mossy precipices were her final destination of the evening. For even now, she could see the far away lantern light of a wandering vagrant beach-goer. Perched high up in the farthest midnight branches.
So she scrapped and climbed. Jumped and Force jumped. All the way up to the longest green embankment. Then scuttled her way up the massively tall tree branch. Almost half way to the end. Muddling her boots against the rocks and pushing her way past all the dewy blue ferns too. Coming to stand just inside the wayward orange light of the farthest forgotten island lantern. Placing her hands on her hips and scowling once again at the small little person with his feet hanging over the ledge,
"Master Barns. What on earth, are you doing all the way out here, hmm?"
"Gah!"
The tiny creature jumped with surprise. Grabbing his wonderfully wide wizarding hat and spinning around like a wobbly ladle.
"Oh Diana! Goodness me, you gave me a fright. ...Why. Can't you see I'm reading?"
The tall blonde did little to hide the playful disdain so graciously shadowed in the bright moon light,
"Mmhmm. ...And just where are the Padawans you are supposed to be watching?"
The small round face of Master Barns seem to shrug with complete apathy. Stroking his long mustache and giving a slump of his tiny shoulders,
"Why. Off hunting rasperberries and mushroom tortes, I suppose? ...I did give them the assignment hours ago, ya know. Poor little toads. Can't even be bothered to return and report. Bother. Just what is this new generation coming too. Hrumph."
The tall blonde moved to the edge of the branch and gazed longingly over the perilous edge. Sighing deeply at good Master Barns lack of forethought,
"So you just decided to stay up here reading all night while our newest Temple Padawans mindlessly traversed a dangerous and ancient forest, in the dark. Hmm?"
He seemed to perk up and ponder his decision with new light. Stroking his round face and reaching for his cane.
"Well. Now, when you put it that way..."
The tiny little gnome stood up and straightened his wide cap.
"...I do suppose they're running a bit late. Couldn't hurt to putt around and around them all up now, I suppose."
Diana leaned over the edge of the giant tree branch. Gazing back down at him over her strong tall shoulders. Noting the terrible far fall into the ocean's watery bay should anybody lose their nimble footing all the way up here. Slip. Sploosh. Just like that, I'm afraid.
"I think that sounds like a splendid idea. Especially since, you and your class were supposed to be back at the temple by night fall. Anyway."
The tiny Master shoo'ed her away with his cane.
"Posh. Shoo. Shoo. You're in my lantern light missy. I'm going. I'm going."
Diana frowned as the tiny Master waddled on past. Slowly making his way down the tall wooden path. She knew she would have to accompany him.
"Then I suppose I'll follow along too. Wouldn't want you too get lost now, would we Master Barns?"
"Huph!"
The little gnome scoffed and trotted along with his cane in one hand and an unsettling large book in the other. Off to find the lost Temple Padawans in the forest. Hopefully. Before they were eaten by the wildlife or devoured by a carnivorous plant too.
Diana shrugged and followed suit. Stepping lightly down the wide wooden branch. Scowling silently with each new scuff of her perfectly polished black boots too. Reaching out and taking hold of the small orange lantern light that Master Barns had, so perfectly in-character, already forgotten he'd left behind.
