- Superb internal and external defenses
- Can operate more or less indefinitely alone if necessary
- Extremely fast hyperdrive can adjust course without dropping out of hyperspace
- Specific and limited Force Drain effect applies to Force-users who come aboard: "To study on the Pomojema - an exclusive opportunity - means temporarily surrendering a small fraction of your power, which goes toward my open and unabashed goal: finding and resurrecting the soul of Spencer Varanin. A constant Force call radiated into the Netherworld, hailing my lost wife."
- Sluggish maneuverability
- Light conventional weapons with minimal combat-relevant crew; not a warship
- Sith aesthetic makes the ship unable to travel incognito
- Distinctive Dark Side aura is relatively easy to track with Force tracking and/or instinctive astrogation: "Instead of a generalized Dark Side reek, this ship feels like pride. Implacable. Grim, hungry, but fulfilled in its purposefulness."
- Tends to attract starweirds, who must be dispatched or wrangled in short order
Though Ashin Varanin has taught at several Dark Side academies over her long career, she has never before led one of her own. She wouldn't have, either, if she hadn't realized that many Darksiders would temporarily sign over a small portion of their raw strength in exchange for education. She openly uses the accumulated Force energies to power a constant Force call that seeks Spencer Varanin's soul throughout the Netherworld.
To that end, Ashin turned an old Fringe elite-troop transport into a top-tier Dark Side academy.
- Phrik-plated chambers both large and snug, open and contorted, provide space to learn the lightsaber and other weapons against peers and elite droids.
- Meditation spheres and circles give place for mental discipline in partnership with the physical.
- Training tools - tonkutaji, midvanot, more traditional things - help Darksiders hone specific skills in precise ways.
- A library contains a handful of robust but unexceptional teaching holocrons, as well as all ten of Velok the Younger's extant books:
- Girawn, Sion, Calypho: Pain as Guide and Servant
- To Pass Unchallenged: The Legacy of Alema Rar
- The Naddists and the Krath: A Retrospective
- Sorcery Deconstructed: The Case for Clarity
- Let the Worthy Prevail: Breaking the Lock of Egalitarian Power
- The Universal Foundation
- The Proper Way to Corrupt a Jedi
- Commentaries on the Sidious Compendium
- Principles and Ethics of the Dark Side
- Sins of the Procurator.
- Specialized learning laboratories focus on biological or materials alchemy. However, the Pomojema is not the equal of
Taeli Raaf 's Sorzus Academy on Ziost in this respect.
It is very rare that an apprentice/acolyte sets foot on the Pomojema. Ashin envisioned her academy as an institution of higher learning: the students typically hold Knight or Master rank. Teachers include Sith Lords, Dark Jedi, former Ke'dem, former Lords of the Fringe, former Akure Executive Interstellar alchemists, a few Denon netrunners she rescued, a member of the Raskava Order (who does NOT have free access to the holocron vault, thank you very much), and various other Darksiders from time to time. As a member of both Darth Voyance's Warlords of the Sith and the Worm Emperor's Lords of the Sith, Ashin draws from a diverse pool of students and potential teachers.
Ashin asks only one thing of the Pomojema's students: commitment to disciplined learning. The bored or confused are soon deposited at a random port of call. Those who have found training easy and skated by suffer a similar fate - or are pushed until learning is their top priority. This is not a place for the uninvested.
