Intent: To repel boarding operations and infiltrators in defense of critical starships
Development Thread: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/19235-show-me-what-you-are-made-of/ - A major Fringe leader and Sienar executive gets electrocuted and Dark Side Tendril'ed, and has a building dropped on him.
Manufacturer: Sienar Army Systems/Iron Crown Productions
Model: GT-F0 Security Droid
Affiliation: Lords of the Fringe
Modularity: No
Production: Minor
Material: Durasteel, cortosis alloy, cortosis weave
Description: Having perpetrated more than a few boarding operations in her day, Grand Admiral Ashin Varanin ordered the creation of a droid specifically designed to counter elite boarding crews. After nursing various bruises, Jared Ovmar, the controlling interest of Santhe/Sienar, concurred.

To keep enemies from slicing and redefining a central recognition database, each droid retains the facial features, height, and basic biometrics of every crew member from its assigned ship. As these droids are deployed only on military ships, updates are relatively rare and require high-level command codes and a physical link with the droid. There is no central recognition database, central shutdown code, or centralization of any kind, and droids are not networked to each other; they communicate with beeps and whistles, as well as retaining upload, but not download, comms capacity in order to alert a starship of boarders. Each unit reports autonomously to command personnel, whose biometrics are recorded in exacting detail.

A high-grade insulator is layered beneath every body plate, and connections between sensors and processing centres are fiber optic, while the sensors themselves (including forward and aft visual sensors) are surrounded in transparent insulator. The entire body of the droid acts as a Faraday cage against electric shock, ion pulse, or electromagnetic effects. The droid's frame is durasteel, and its plating is a composite: A thin cortosis weave sandwiched between an inner layer of cortosis alloy (roughly as thick as a sword blade) and an outer layer of durasteel. From outside to inside, then, the plating is durasteel, cortosis weave, cortosis alloy, insulator. This makes the droid's plating very bulky, requiring a simple frame, and there is no simpler frame than that of an astromech.

The GT-F0 looks like a standard astromech droid. High-ultraviolet tagging in a precise pattern allows GT-F0 units to recognize each other and impersonator units. The GT-F0 is deployed in significant numbers in and around the bridge, main engineering, and reactor sectors of every ship of the wall in Fringe service.

In most situations, the droid's main armament is a quintet of Ssi-Ruuvi paralysis beams, similar to paddle beamers and comparable in magnitude to a handheld blaster. This technology was acquired during the pacification of the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium, and has seen use in Fringe technology since then. The range of these beams is 20 metres. Moving much faster than standard blaster shots, and pulsed in only half-second increments, they have been designed to prevent boarders from simply throwing other defenders into the beam. Contact with a limb will paralyze that limb; contact with the central nervous system will paralyze most or all of the body, often resulting in unconsciousness. Each weapon's muzzle is high-tensile ceramic, non-conductive. These short-range weapons are useless against droids. As a result, the GT-F0 has a small droid disruptor as tertiary armament.

The droid's backup armament is a proprietary Sienar Army Systems omnidirectional sonic projector, designation R0F1-M40. The area-of-effect projector can be modulated to stun or to incapacitate through pain, broken eardrums and brain swelling, within a radius of 10-15 metres depending on the nature of the enclosed space. However, this armament is dangerous to use around starships' crews and machinery, and droids only use it when necessary and when nearby crew members are minimal.

Classification: Class 4

Weight: 40kg

Height: 1.2m
Movement: Wheels
Armaments: Ssi-Ruuvi particle paralysis beam (2 forward, 2 rear, 1 dorsal), omnidirectional R0F1-M40 sonic generator, small droid disruptor
Misc. Equipment: Biometric scanners, targeting sensors, manipulator arm, scomp link, comm transmitter

Minor Production with Cortosis bugs me, but seeing as it's purely defensive and obviously so, I can't see any reason to make it an issue. Everything else checks out and this thing really doesn't kill as much as it incapacitates attackers. So, unless a secondary finds issue, Approved pending secondary.
