The Path to Conquest

Lord Ajihad, the Demon's Fist, sat in a nice cafe on Coruscant. It was a neat little place, with very few customers. It overlooked a little green park, a rarity on the city-planet. He sat in a corner booth, with two big windows instead of walls. He hadn't ordered anything yet, though he had been there for over half an hour. He was going to wait for his... associate before he began to eat

He was there to meet [member="Xander Blackmoore"] , the White Assassin. Vi'kas had recently signed up to be the Shadow of Conquest, Xander's second-in-command. They were meeting at the cafe today to discuss the parameters of the job, and what it would entail.

Xander was about to aquire a new apprentice. The man had been one of several applicants, and this was the best selection. What drew Xander to him were the similarities. The energy bow, the Dathomir connection, the man truly possessed the ability to be in Xander's likeness. The only question was whether he could.

He walked into the cafe with a pair of black pants, boots to match, and his leather breastplate to cover his torso. With Sitara gone, Xander's old habits returned quickly, and the older hunting clothes returned.

"Wine," he said to the servER as he sat not looking at her. "The Ec Pand reserve."

His eyes never once left the one who would be his apprentice and shadow. This was the final obstacle.

"Do you like wine?"

[member="Lord Ajihad"]

Lord Ajihad looked up, and identified the man as [member="Xander Blackmoore"] , the man he had come for. He then spoke, his deep foreign accent becoming apparent, "Indeed I do, but not the cheap stuff. If I wanted to have watered-down garbage, I'd have a mug of beer. Now, shall we order something for the wine to wash down?" As he spoke to the other knight, he would carefully eye the room, casually scanning for threats. He was always a bit paranoid, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing in his line of work...

:: HERO of KORRIBAN ::
"Food, if you wish to have some. I'm simply after the wine."

Xander sipped the cup when it arrived and motioned for the man to order if he wished it. When the server left, he looked across from the man. It was time to discuss the particulars of what they were after. Xander needed an apprentice, and a successor. Until he had a son of his own to train, this man would do.

"You're to be a shadow, specifically mine. Are aware of what this means?"

The wine was sipped again.

"You are to become me, do as I do, do what I tell you to do. You will be loyal, or you will die. The job is simple. If you are not up to the task, then you may leave now."

[member="Lord Ajihad"]

As the waitress came over, Lord Ajihad politely asked her for a sandwich. He never liked to eat heavy foods, as it kept him in shape. Also, if a fight broke out, nobody wanted a thick meal sitting at the bottom of their gut. He listened quietly to Xander's statement, while sipping some wine at the same time. It was good stuff, and certainly didn't seem to be cheap. After [member="Xander Blackmoore"] finished what he was saying, Vi'kas would follow up with a statement of his own. I understand the general job description, but I have a few more... detailed questions. Can you give me insight in some of the things I'll be doing. And as your apprentice, what exactly can you teach me?"

:: HERO of KORRIBAN ::
"You will do what I tell you too. It shouldn't matter. In exchange for obeying every word, I will teach you to be me. As the Aspect of Conquest I specialize in force kills. You will learn how to do the same and will employ those skills to do what I want you to do. You are being invited into a special order, a select group of assassins which are more than a simple killing engine. You will do a lot of your work alone. Like a shadow you will go before me, behind me, around me. You will prepare for my movements, and clean up after me when I am gone. All of this puts you in line to follow me should I die, or resign."

Xander sipped the wine, and locked his blue eyes onto the man in front of him. Would he be up for the task, certainly. Xander would ensure it. The first assignment would be simple, and if the man agreed, Xander would give it to him.

"The only thing I need to know from you, will you do it?"

[member="Lord Ajihad"]

Ajihad had already made his decision long before the meeting had taken place. He had just wanted to get an idea of what he would be doing, which he now did. After sipping his wine, he would reply, "Indeed I will do it. I will be your shadow, and complete the duties it entails. I will do as you ask, whatever it may be." Then, the waitress would appear, serving him the sandwich. He waited to take a bite from it, in case [member="Xander Blackmoore"] had anything to add. After all, it's considered rude to speak with your mouth full...

:: HERO of KORRIBAN ::
"Very well then," Xander said with a nod.

He motoned for the man to eat his sandwich as he stood and left a few credits on the table to pay for the food and drink. There was nothing more to do here, and Xander would allow the man a bit more freedom before taking it from him.

"Meet me at the space port in 72 hours. From there we go somewhere few know of. You will establish temporary quarters where we are going. Your training will begin then. You will become me."

He turned on his heels and walked away from him. They would meet in three days.

[member="Lord Ajihad"]

Feel free to move us forward. No need to start another thread.

The Sith Knight frowned as [member="Xander Blackmoore"] moved to pay for the food. Ajihad placed his own money on the table, and handed Xander's back to him. "I insist."

He would then signal to the waitress to clear the table, sandwich and all. It was time for him to leave. There were preparations to be had before his departure in three days' time.

:: HERO of KORRIBAN ::
Xander shrugged leaving his credits on the table, not looking back to see the disappointment. Vizios was not one to care about the formalities of what was polite or not as much as he used to be. Yes, the noble Sith still had a sense of propriety, but often did not demand it be followed. All he cared about from anyone he called student was pure, and simple, obedience.

Three days moved quickly. For one as old as Xander they were nothing at all. While he had slept for 820 years, the King still felt the years as his memory held things long past. A personal ship had been arranged at bay 36, and Xander stood outside the loading ramp waiting for his shadow. A gift was prepared for him, one which may not be considered a gift, but ready should the man prove worth the position he agreed to. The next month of intense training would prove his value.

[member="Lord Ajihad"]

When the assassin left, he would immediately return to his quarters at the academy. For the first two days of waiting, he put himself through some serious physical training. He pushed himself to his limits and beyond, hoping to prepare himself a bit for what was to come.

On the third day, he packed his things up. He didn't have many possessions, and most of them were equipment. As he waited until he had to leave for the dock, Ajihad focused on attuning himself with the force. Once the time came, and his mind was clear, he departed for the docks.

He arrived at bay 36 at the exact time specified, down to second. He didn't believe in being fashionably late. He approached [member="Xander Blackmoore"] , his bags in tow. "I am ready for our departure, my Lord. Is there anything else I need to do before we leave?"

:: HERO of KORRIBAN ::
"Carry your bags to the ship, but when we leave, you will consolidate your belongings to the smallest bag you have brought. Weapons will be provided, so you will not need those. We move with minimal equipment, the force itself is our instrument. You will learn to rely upon it."

Xander boarded the ship, his coat tails flourishing as he turned. His boots made a clicking sound as he walked up the Durasteel platform, and pressed down the corridor to the cockpit. The pilot was informed to take them to his private hunting grounds on Ec Pand. Xander had taken no one there, so he thought it was fitting to take his shadow there. It would become a base of sorts for them, a place to move without the knowledge of the assassins themselves.

"We arive in seven hours. Until then do as you wish. They will be the last seven you will have to be your own for the next month. Once we arrive, you are mine to train and condition. First, I must break you, only to reform you."

[member="Lord Ajihad"]

Ajihad didn't like the sound what [member="Xander Blackmoore"] suggested he do with his gear. Weapons will be provided? What? The knight generally preferred to use his own equipment. However, Darth Vizios was the boss, and Lord Ajihad had to obey.

The assassin hauled his stuff onto the ship, and picked his quarters. It was a very small cabin, but he had made do with worse. Much worse.

He picked out his most essential items, laying them out on the small bedspread. He made sure to pack a few pairs of clothes, as well as a comlink and some potion vials and ingredients. He compacted the items as tightly as he could, and saw he had a little bit more space. After taking a moment to think, he ended up bringing a book. It was a history of all force abilities and such, catalogued into a compendium. It barely fit, and Ajihad had to be very careful not to crush his potion vials. After everything was packed, he layed down in bed to get some rest before the long journey ahead.

:: HERO of KORRIBAN ::
"Interesting choice, the book," Xander replied as he watched the man pack his one bag. Naturally Xander would oversee. This exercise was going to do two things, force his student to rely on less, and teach Xander more about him. "Already it seems I've selected a good student to be my shadow. The force will always be our greatest weapon. Don't ever forget that. The sooner you learn that lesson, the easier this next month will be for you."

He turned and left to retire to his quarters. Xander rest until they arrived and touched down at his hunting grounds. The cabin was not anything compared to his vacation home, or personal estate, but it was not small either. When they reached the door, Xander stopped, and pointed to a large tree in the middle of the lawn.

"You will sleep there tonight, and your pack, you may not have. The book yes. Teach yourself a new skill from it by the time I summon you in the morning for breakfast."

Xander walked into the cabin, shutting the door in [member="Lord Ajihad"]'s face.

As Ajihad finished up packing, he was somewhat surprised to see [member="Xander Blackmoore"] standing in the doorway. So much for seven hours to himself. However, he listened to what the man had to say. It seemed he approved of his choice in reading.

Several hours later, they landed right by a large wood cabin. Ajihad moved towards the door, carrying his sole bag. However, his master stopped him, forcing him to leave the bag behind. He pursed his lips, holding back any and all complaints. He raised an eyebrow as the White Assassin told him to keep the book, and learn an ability by the next day. He grabbed the book, and followed Xander inside the cabin to quickly put away his bag, then went back outside with the book. The sun was beginning to set, making it hard for a normal person to read. However, this was no problem for Ajihad and his cybernetic eye. The device quickly adjusted for the dimming light, making the pages more than viewable. He sat down at the base of the tree, and began to look through the compendium.

After a little bit, Ajihad picked an ability. Mind Control. It would be heavily ambitious for most to learn it in one night, but less so for Ajihad. Ever since the day he was born, he was always talented with mental manipulation. He used it on a regular basis, and had even begun to expand his horizons with the ability. He began controlling people. Well, sort of. He could only do a few basic things by invading peoples' minds. Mainly, he could knock them unconscious, or paralyze them. It was fairly simple for a natural with the ability. All one rely had to do was find their mind's "off" switch, and then flip it. They would fall to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

As talented as Ajihad was with that, he had never gone beyond knocking people out. This ability would be easier to learn because of his aptitude for mental manipulation, but by no means would it be a free pass to victory. It would be a hard ability to learn.

After resting the synopsis on how to execute mind control, Ajihad looked for a suitable test subject. He scanned the lawn for lifeforms, and detected a rabbit on the far side. He closed his eyes, reaching out and into the creature's mind. It was alien, but very small and simple. It didn't have a complex thought process, making Ajihad's job a bit easier. Now came the hard part. He needed to seize control of the creature.

Ajihad thought of what he wanted the creature to do. He wanted it to hop towards him. He relayed the simple command across the bond, exporting it into the rabbit's thought process. The creature turned, and hopped once. However, that's as far as it went. The bond broke, and the bunny hopped away.

The knight grinned. What he had done wasn't much, but it was progress nonetheless. Unfortunately, he had just lost his test subject.

For the next several hours, he went across the lawn, interacting with all sorts of animals. He discovered the closer he got, the more effective the bond was. He practiced until past midnight, and he was exhausted. The constant use of the force had worn him out, and he needed rest. Confident he had learned a satisfactory amount, Ajihad climbed to the top of the tree and laid on a high branch. He closed his eyes, giving in to the darkness.

Xander was alone with his nightmares again. Sleep evaded him once more as he spent the night with his canvases once again painting one of many possible futures. He thought he was rid of the scene when getting rid of the amulet, but it was back in full force. Who was he looking for? Who was dead because of him? Why was he so frantic? It was hard to know he was cursed with foresight. Razielle Van-Derveld had been right, it was a curse he would never be rid of. He should have never stopped painting.

The scene shifted from the one he always painted to the a new one. It was raining, he stood on a platform. A woman was with him clothed in black, the face undiscernable at the moment. Now he was curious as to this possible future. Was she an apprentice, a victim, a prisoner, a new lover. What planet had he painted? He breathed in and sighed. It was morning.

"Come inside. There is breakfast. Come and find me."

[member="Lord Ajihad"]

Ajihad had woken up just a little before his master, using the small window of free time to practice a little more mind control before his master tested him. He was making a bird do a barrel roll, when [member="Darth Vizios"] sent him a telepathic message to come in for breakfast. Unfortunately, this distracted him from the task at hand, sending the bird into the wall of the house with a thud. Crining, Ajihad would make his way indoors.

The Miraluka closed his eye, willing himself to see with the force. Sure enough, he saw his master inside the cabin in what looked to be a medium-sized dining room. Reopening the cybernetic device, he made his way to the specified room. Upon his entrance, he bowed to Darth Vizios. "Good morning, master.Did you sleep well?" He turned his head as he spoke, looking for the promised food.

:: HERO of KORRIBAN ::
"I did not," he said plainly and shifted the subject. "What did you teach yourself from that book of yours?"

Xander rang a small bell summoning the food to be brought to the table. With the work they would be doing in training for the next month, Xander had sent for a small contingent of staff to serve their needs. Normally Xander would handle them himself, but not with the schedule they would be running. It would taxing to reproduce himself in a month, a lofty task to be certain.

"Eat well, and when you are done we begin a rough ammount of training. You will be me by the end of this time, to a degree."

[member="Lord Ajihad"]

Ajihad's attention would be pulled from the incoming food, to his master's question. He wondered if [member="Darth Vizios"] would consider the ability he had chosen to learn as an acceptable one, or if he would frown upon him learning it. There was no telling with Xander. His sharp tongue could lash out at the smallest of things. "I chose to learn Qazoi Kyantuska from the book. It seems it might be a useful ability for an assassin to learn, no?" As he spoke, Ajihad telekinetically led a spherical fruit into his hand. He was hungry after the night of relentless practicing of mind control.

:: HERO of KORRIBAN ::
"Mind Control?"

Xander smirked. He took a drink of the hot caf. A peice of nerf sausage went to his mouth. He mulled the skill over, and agreed.

"You can make someone do the job for you. That is the right attitude. We kill with the force, and you will do just fine."

He went back to his food, and finished his meal. It was quiet. When the plates had been cleared, Xander looked to his apprentice, and spoke.

"Take a shower, and meet in the back. Bring your bow."
