The One Where HK Marries A Hapan. Wait, They're Not Hapans? [Metal Lords and Tapani Confederation]

Denon,
Capital of Droid Space,

Part of the Metal Lords' plan for expansion and ensuring the sovereignty of their established independent space was reaching out not only to various companies and forming contracts which bound them into the corporate sectors of Metal Lords but also other factions and powers, whether minor or major to establish a system of embassies and diplomatic exchanges in orbit of Denon. The first ones they reached out to, outside of their neighbors and natural candidate for allies, like for example the Free Worlds Alliance with whom they had very good relations, were other sovereign sectors of space within other factions, for example the Tapani Confederation. Knowing their independent spirit while balancing being part of a bigger political system, the Galactic Alliance in this case, HK who set up the meeting was sure the Tapans would be more willing to meet together and support the government which valued and celebrated planets and sectors like theirs.

Another reason which definitely helped to cement HK's decision to reach out to Tapani Confederation were the rumors he heard from connections to his various, usually droid-based, networks. While he kept knowledge of such secrets, the Metal Lords were not without their spies and informants residing within the territories of their neighbors, nothing too hostile or aggressive of course, just droids who were willing to support the efforts of their brethren without taking up arms or moving to droid space, but not above sending some useful news or rumors their way. One of these rumors HK receive spoke of technology developed by Tapani, one that allowed, or was a pathway towards, allowing various machines, droids included, to connect into neurological systems of organics without killing them, basically, access their minds. While the Metal Lords already had technology that allowed them to do something similar, the problem was in not killing their targets to do so.

And so, once the Tapani ships would arrive in the system they would receive a transmission to greet them,

"Tapani Confederation, welcome to Droid Space, we are honored to host you and we await speaking with you in person."

From HK himself.

Once the Tapani closed in towards the planet, they would notice that it would be a sight vastly different from what they could remember, if they were able to visit Denon ever before. Well the planet itself would have been unchanged, still glimmering with the many industrial lights, still covered by the red and black veins of streets and buildings that covered the entire city-planet. The new addition, however, was the ring of ships encircling the planet as if laying siege to it, and the many stations being build in its orbit with hustle and bustle of smaller vessels and drones.

The Tapani would have been directed to dock with one of the larger and opulent of these stations and come aboard. While the other stations were strange constructions that almost seemed to be cobbled together from skeletons and corpses of other stellar structures, repurposed many times over and added on top of each other, like jigsaw of starship wrecks and durasteel plating woven together to form the new presence over the planet, the one they was directed to, the Space Bazaar, was newer, more refined, more seamless and perfected, a real jewel of wealth and commerce given by the droids to Denon. Other systems would have probably faced similar projects as Denon was not alone in still adjusting to the new power within that sector, planets like Nubia, Loromar, and Hakassi too had similar rings of spacecraft around, they too had new spacestations and bases build around them. The droids asked for relatively little of their subjects, they did not enslaved them, they did not force them to fight for them, some did not even overthrew their previous governments. What they did ask however was one of the main reasons why they decided to lay claim on territory. An armada of new, larger ships, and a lot of them.

Aboard the station HK and others would be waiting within one of the larger hangars, lavishly decorated with gold, bronzium, and silver, where the Tapani could land a dropship or a shuttle, even a corvette, freely and exit his craft to come greet the droid representatives. HK would stand first among the representatives, prominent in his rather tall but slender stature, like an elongated skeleton, clad in flesh like black chitinous armor, Vong-shaped should the Tapani be able to tell such things, rarely if ever seen on a droid, its thick armored plates making him seem rather bulkier and larger than the body underneath was in reality.

Once the Tapani would disembark they would be allowed to have the first word to greet the Metal Lord representatives.

Aeshi stood beside HK with her hands crossed behind her back. She was clad in formal attire once again loaned to her by her droid hosts. Her own, admittedly meager, wardrobe had gone up with the StarDream. This was instead a surprisingly elaborate spacer's outfit, at least from her own perspective. Vibrant colors, in good condition, with no stains or patched tears. Luxurious, she could even go so far to say.

But then, unless she was mistaken, HK's armor cost the same as a small moon. Vong. She remembered them. There had been some on Coruscant when she was growing up. They'd come by the orphanage sometimes and show off, boasting about the glories of the One Sith. Recruiting, really. They didn't have other choices. Prisons or the One Sith military.

Well, in theory, that was what everyone told them. But then, Aeshi never liked doing what people told her. She'd found a different way. Ran away to the Outer Rim with a smuggler and a Warden.

But that was a bit of a diversion. She brought her mind back to the present as their guest began to speak.

At least HK tended to use the armor for much more humanitarian purposes than the Vong.

Either way the droid would give a nod, a soft bow, towards [member="Ivlyn Mecetti"] as the Tapani representative stepped out from her ship,

"Welcome in the orbit of Denon, the capital of the Droid Space, Duchess Ivlyn Mecetti of the Ark'ghou province,"

HK begun by greeting her before motioning to Aehi,

"This is Metal Lady Captain Ash, I will be representing the Denon interests in our discussion while she represents the nomadic Metal Lord domains, her fleet included. Captain Ash may also provide insight and expertise once we will discuss construction of Tapani station within Denon's orbit. Other representatives may join us throughout our discussion,"

The droid informed Ivlyn before nodding to her once more,

"But yes, let us proceed with the meeting,"

HK agreed and motioned for Ivlyn to follow behind him as he turned and moved towards the doorway leading from the hangar deeper into the station,

"The Council of Lords grew very excited once the news of Tapani advances in area of neuro-cybernetics and the possibility of interfacing with mechanical systems reached us, and your government agreed to meet with us and discuss developing the field further. Such advancements would hopefully help us end one of the more bitter wars plaguing the Droid Space."

"Nice to meet you, Captain Ash." Ivlyn gave a small nod to the woman after the Lord Iron Protector was done explaining the process that they would be going through. "It should not be a problem for other representatives to join us." Ivlyn said. In fact, she thought it might be for the best that there were more of them. That would mean more Metal Lords would be interacting with her, which gave her a chance to get access to more resources. She knew that the Metal Lords were more of a confederacy, with a decentralized form of government. That meant she had to work a little harder to acquire favor with the majority of the Metal Lords rather than focusing on a head of state and their party or allies, which would often follow along with their head of state.

The Tapani needed this. This would be one of their first embassies to open in a foreign nation, allowing them to gain potential allies should things go awry with the Galactic Alliance, a place where the Tapani government could continue in exile should it fall. The opportunities were many.

"Thank you for the opportunity to develop such a technology. As you know, mind probing technology already exists, but it is difficult to make use of for it poses a danger and can be extremely painful. It also applies almost exclusively to memories. Expanding its functionality could allow the Metal Lords to achieve their goals more easily. I believe we can achieve this for droids." Ivlyn said as she was led deeper into the station. She was certain that recent technological developments could lead to the development of new technology that functioned on the behalf of droids. The lack of lethality and the reduction or elimination of pain was a plus for everyone involved. It allowed the prevention of the unnecessary loss of valuable prisoners of war, less of a chance of international incidents, the allowance of a willing organic to communicate something indescribable to a droid to allow them to understand something the understanding of which is not easily acquired.
