STRENGTHS
  • AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component - An ablative current courses through the hull plating along the length of the vessel. This current is utilized in the removal of harmful particles and debris that have accumulated on the hull, reducing the damage and in the long run, increasing the longevity of the hull plating.
  • GalaxyGuard Mark VII - These specialized components assist in further strengthening the Deflector Shields via providing additional endurance to the shields themselves. They are also capable of extending the operational range of the shield, further enhancing the protective capabilities of the Deflector Shields. There are three such systems installed on the Observance, the maximum limit that can be installed and still remain operational.
  • Quad-Laser Auto-Tracking Fire Control System - A supplemental system that is utilized to allow for the fully automated targeting and firing of the Quad-Laser Cannon complement that the vessel is capable of bringing to bear. This permits Gunners to focus on other weapon systems or priorities that would have otherwise been utilized on the manual operation of these weapon systems.
  • Overlapping Fields of Fire - Due in part to the Hexagonal design of the vessel, many of its weapons create a natural overlapping field of fire, with multiple weapon systems providing cover or protective fire to neighboring weapon systems. This makes the systems themselves difficult to knock out, while also providing a more effective defensive firing screen when it comes to smaller vessels such as Starfighters and Gunships.
  • Nuclear-Capable - Like a handful of Lastwall and Hellknight vessels - the Observance is capable of being armed with Nuclear based weapons to be deployed with devastating effect.
  • Heavily Armed - Exchanging Speed and Maneuverability for sheer Firepower, the Observance lives up to its classification as a Battlecruiser - capable of bringing to bear devastating weapon systems from Heavy Railguns and Turbolaser Cannons, to a barrage of Anti-Starfighter Weaponry and Ion Cannon fire.
  • Heavily Armored - As a matching complement to its already impressive complement of weapon systems, the Observance is likewise heavily defended. Protected with multiple shield generators, armor components, Electonic Countermeasures, and Point-Defense Cannons for additional defense.
  • Corvette Berth - Located at various positions along the vessel's external perimeter and internal perimeter, are a number of berths that are capable of housing Corvettes up to 200 meters in size. These berths can alternatively be modified to maintain multiple Corvettes of smaller sizes totaling up to 200 meters in full.
  • Frigate Berth - Though not as numerous as the Corvette Berths - the vessel maintains a handful of berths capable of holding Frigates up to 500 meters in size. Likewise, they can be modified to allow for smaller sized Frigates to be maintained in the berths, totaling up to 500 meters in full when at full capacity.

WEAKNESSES
  • Slow Moving - The size of the vessel coupled with its focus on armaments, defenses, and hangar capacity has caused it to neglect other capabilities such as speed. This can have a drawback in that, faster escort vessels that operate alongside the Observance must slow down lest they outrun the larger vessel. This can cause additional problems in that the overall fleet composition must maintain a slower pace to properly defend the larger command vessel.
  • Turning in March 20XX - Another area neglected in its focus on armaments, defenses, and hanger capacity is its capability of making rapid maneuvers or any maneuver in general. While it is capable of making turns and not forced to travel in a direct line - in order to do so takes time and planning to execute even the slightest of maneuvers.
  • Fast Moving Targets - Despite its overlapping fields of fire and a number of automated weapon systems specifically deployed to deal with faster-moving vessels - the Observance still has trouble when dealing with these smaller crafts. This can often result in the Observance having to deploy Starfighter squadrons to dislodge these faster vessels as they are capable of slipping between the fields of fire and getting closer to the hull of the vessel.
  • Eshan Accords - While capable of fielding and ultimately deploying a Phlegethon Thermonuclear Device, it is only capable of doing such in limited quantities due to an accord that was developed following the Mandalorian Invasion of Eshan when such weapons were deployed en masse against the enemy fleet. This safety feature only permits one such device being deployed at a time - and limits the time between deployments to prevent rapid or en masse strikes.
  • Outer Hangars Exposed - Partially due to the Hexagonal design of the vessel - hanger bays are pointed directly outwards along the perimeter of the vessel. And, though they are heavily defended, they are still vulnerable and exposed to enemy fire - making for easier targets for those that are seeking to knock out its capability to deploy any kind of Starfighter or Support Squadrons.
  • Debris Collector - A side-effect that comes with the utilization of its Gravity Well Projectors - is the attraction of Space Debris when these systems are fully operational and deployed. Though larger pieces are often targetted and dispatched by the gunner crews, smaller pieces of debris can be easily missed, leading to potentially catastrophic damage or problems that could lower the operational efficiency of the vessel.
  • HIMS - The Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainer is a specialized component that is often installed on vessels - specifically warships - that assists in overcoming the effects of the Mass Shadows generated by a Gravity Well Projector. This system effectively creates a sustained bubble of hyperspace around a vessel and counteracts the effects of an Interdiction field by preventing the vessel from being torn from Hyperspace into Realspace. However, it should be noted, that this system does not permit a vessel to flee from Realspace into Hyperspace when already under the effects of an Interdiction Field.
  • Energy Drain - When the Gravity Well Projectors are deployed, they create a sustained drain and overall strain on the vessel's internal systems. So much power is drained in fact during normal operation, that the Observance is otherwise incapable of utilizing its weapon systems to their fullest extent and efficiency. In such an instance, substantial damage or a sustained assault on the vessel will often force the Captain to choose between keeping the Projectors operational to prevent an enemy from fleeing, or the safety of the vessel and its crew.
  • Time Delay - Though capable of producing Mass Shadows via its multiple Gravity Well Projectors - these systems take time to fully powerup and deploy. While slower vessels are more hardpressed to escape the area and jump to Hyperspace, smaller, more agile vessels have the potential of slipping past and fleeing.
  • Berth Shields - In order to properly deploy the Corvettes or Frigates from their Berths, the shields over these areas must be lowered to permit the vessels to slip free. In these instances, the internal structure of the berths and the vessel itself is rendered vulnerable to enemy fire. This can potentially cause additional or catastrophic damage to internal systems that would render the berth unusable or render the Observance itself incapacitated.
  • Starfighter Exchange - While the Observance is capable of carrying Corvettes or Frigates in its berths, it does so at the cost of Starfighter Squadrons - having to choose between supporting a full Squadron or removing them to maintain one of the previously mentioned vessels. An example is that, in order to maintain a 100-meter length Corvette, the Observance must forego supporting a full Starfighter Squadron - effectively removing one squadron per 100 meters of vessel for its berths.
  • Broadside of a Mountain - The vessel is a relatively sizeable target and can easily be struck by an individual merely pointing their weapons in its general direction. If an individual manages to miss the vessel, may we suggest a visit to your local optical specialist for a checkup.
  • One of a Kind - There is only one Observance, and if it is destroyed, there is no replacing the vessel.

DESCRIPTION
A Vigil has just begun and a light of hope shines brilliantly in the darkness even as a ravenous horde undulates and creeps ever closer towards the Core Worlds on a ceaseless campaign of hunger and destruction. From this shining light comes the Battlecruiser 'Observance', its sole purpose, to be ever vigilant and maintain the vigil of the Lastwall. The Observance is an Ileor-Blakros-class Battlecruiser, dedicated in memory to the first Watcher-Lord that united Lastwall from the disparate and warring states that the planet had suffered under for countless centuries after the planet had been settled. Its primary design is a vast hexagonal shape reminiscent of a Luckrehulk-class Droid Control Ship - and capable of carrying a multitude of Starfighter and Support Squadrons, as well as smaller Corvettes and Frigates in any one of its many berths designed to ferry such vessels into combat at the expense of its capacity to carry Starfighter Squadrons. The vessel itself is heavily armed and armored - capable of bringing to bear such destructive weapon systems as Heavy Turbolaser Cannons and Thermonuclear Devices, while also maintaining Anti-Missile Octets and Point-Defense Cannons for protection against smaller vessels and munitions.

Capable of bringing to bear seven powerful Gravity Well Projectors - it excels at tearing vessels from Hyperspace and locking down Hyperspace routes during Interdiction missions. However, it should be noted that even though it is capable of producing Mass Shadows - the time and energy that it takes to do such can often provide enough time for faster, more agile vessels to slip away and flee into Hyperspace. Likewise, it has an undesired side-effect in that the Gravity Well Projectors attract spacial debris - and though larger pieces are often targeted and removed by Gunner crews before they can become a threat, smaller pieces of debris can easily be missed, resulting in damage to the vessel and its systems. This can further cause problems given that - while having focused upon a heavier armament and defenses - the vessel is otherwise incapable of rapid maneuvers or maneuvers in the common sense, often requiring careful planning and timing to make even the slightest of adjustments to its flight path beyond a simple straight line. This lack of speed also manifests a problem in which faster support and escort vessels can potentially outpace the Observance, rendering it without its escort fleet - while vice versa - its slow speed requires these faster vessels that rely on their speed and maneuverability, to slow down and keep pace with the larger command vessel.

Though, as mentioned, it is capable of fielding and deploying Thermonuclear Devices as part of its expansive devastating arsenal of weapon systems, the means and quantity of such are heavily regulated due to the Eshan Accords - a safety feature that prevents the en masse deployment of the Phlegethon Devices as they had been during the Mandalorian Invasion of Eshan. Even with this system in place, its nuclear-capable arsenal is still a viable option, albeit one that must be carefully weighed and judged before such a weapon is deployed in battle lest it renders devastation on a non-military target. A multitude of weapon systems provides for a multilayered, overlapping field of fire, in which weapon systems are capable of protecting neighboring systems from enemy fire - however, it should also be noted that even with many of these weapons and automated targeting systems, the Observance still has trouble when it comes to faster vessels such as Interceptors and Fast-Attack Corvettes which can slip through these fields of fire. This in turn forces the Observance to rely on its own Starfighter Squadrons or Corvettes to dislodge these vessels from the hull to ensure that they do not wreak havoc on the vessel.

Its capabilities directly match its primary classification and role as a Command Vessel - as seen with it being able to deploy smaller vessels from specialized berths and baring that, the mass of Starfighter Squadrons it can deploy from its external hangars. Many of these hangars however are situated along the outer perimeter of the vessel - and though they are protected by defensive and offensive weapon systems, they are still somewhat vulnerable to attack. As such, sustained fire or otherwise enough damage to these areas can render a hanger incapable of launching its complement of Starfighters - reducing its effectiveness when it comes to deploying Starfighter Squadrons. As a means to attempt to mitigate this drawback, many of the hangars are protected by Quad-Laser Cannons, the weapon systems themselves being control by a Quad-Laser Fire Controller System - which fully automates the operation of these weapons and ensures that Gunner crews are freed to focus on other weapon systems or tasks that would otherwise demand their attention in terms of operating the Quad-Laser Cannons manually.

While it may seem that its many drawbacks should preclude it from any kind of actual combat or prevent it from being effective - its symbol as the Command Ship of the Lastwall Fleet and its own strengths ensures that it is a needed tool in the fight against the horrors that seek to consume the Galaxy. The Observance - though a one-of-a-kind vessel - is still deemed to be worth the risk of its deployment, with those serving onboard the vessel willing to lay their lives down in the protection of the Galaxy.
