LFG "The Next Big Thing" for Balun Dashiell

Short version: I'm looking for a new Major Faction for Balun to get involved in, but I'm not entirely sure where he would fit best.

While Balun is a Lightsider and a Force-User, he's not a Jedi. I've always maintained a rogue, independent streak in his character — someone who follows his own sense of right and wrong rather than rigid codes. If he were a Jedi, he'd naturally be with the NJO (where he was raised as a youngling), and I wouldn't be making this LFG post. But there's a lot more to Balun than just his connection to the Force.

On the corporate side, Balun runs Dashiell Retrofit, a subsidiary under his family's larger company. The focus is primarily on starship manufacturing. It's been a slow, organic build — I tend to take on private commissions that inspire my muse rather than pushing out submissions weekly like some of the Factory powerhouses here. Thanks to his success, Balun has begun moving among some of High Society's Elite and is slowly establishing a reputation beyond just his Force abilities.

In the field, Balun has been more of a "Lone Ranger" type since the fall of the TAC, where he once served with the Aquilian Rangers. He's traveled from world to world, getting involved in dogfights, helping civilians deal with pirates, and generally lending a hand where he can. He's very much a jack-of-all-trades, though master of none.

Most recently, my focus has been on developing his personal story with his family (especially his father, Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell ), but historically I've always enjoyed getting Balun involved in bigger Faction narratives. Lately, I've been missing that larger-scale storytelling. He's also starting to show interest in politics, though he's still very inexperienced — lots of potential, but little direction so far.

So, like I said, I'm looking for the next big Faction for Balun.
I just don't know where he'd best fit, and I'm a little out of the loop on the current Major Faction scene. It feels a little odd putting up an LFG for factions — like I'm trying to auction him off or something — but since I've been out of the Major Game for a while, I figured I'd ask for some insight. If anyone has suggestions or ideas for where Balun might find a good home, I'd love to hear them!

Imma just go ahead and leave my endorsement here, Balun is an absolute joy of a character to write with and has a great writer. Y'all should really pick him up.

That being said, Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren can def give you more details but you may really enjoy Royal Naboo Republic. You get a lot of the location focused stories that get you a lot of angles for the personal plotline while also engaging with their larger plot. Also they're good folks over there, so I can recommend them.

Hey Balun!

Reading through your post and backstory I feel like the Spacer's Guild under the Royal Naboo Republic might be a good fit for the kind of vibe you are chasing. The Guild aren't Jedi and they respect the heart that drives folks like you. Lot of independent captains, ex-soldiers, folks who know the wild edges of the map and make their living bridging gaps where the big powers fall short.

Sounds like the sort of place a Lone Ranger with a shipyard and a soft spot for helping people might feel at home. If that catches your interest let me know and I can loop you in!

I've often been curious about the Royal Naboo Republic, though I don't think I know any of the writers involved, which is why I hadn't reached out until now. From an outside perspective, it's always seemed like a really tight-knit faction, and the level of effort put into the art, stories, and community has been genuinely impressive. I'm definitely open to trying something new and writing with new people. Seth Denko Seth Denko — your suggestion about the Spacers Guild within the RNR sounds like a perfect fit. I'll take you up on that offer and jump into the RNR. :)
