The New Mandalore ad (need feedback!)

"War is the Mandalorian way of life."
-- Gnost-Dural
So it came to be that the Mandalorian name would be remembered... That memory is now but a history, surely the Mandalorians have rebuilt much of what they lost but their current leader is a hollow shell of their former glory; war without honour, honour without sacrifice, sacrifice without merit.

How far have the Mando'ade fallen that they've become little more than a name?

The past...

Mand'alor , the title held by the greatest warrior in the galaxy. Holding this title was not solely about strength, it was about maintaining an idea and being the life of an enitre culture. Even if a Mand'alor died, a new one would take its place. This is perhaps their greatest strength... But even the title of Mand'alor did not weigh authority alone, for a Mand'alor is only as strong as his supporters. If broken and disunited --- as they have been in the past --- the Mandalorians scatter across the galaxy, seeking fortune as mercenaries and bounty hunters. For when the Dark Lord Revan shattered the Neo-crusaders and took the Mask of Mandalore for himself, the clans became lost and the once powerful idea that brought fear to their name was shattered.

"We're a culture. We're an idea. And you can't kill ideas---but we sure can kill you." -- Mandalore the Destroyer

Of course a time would come when the Mando'ade return to the call of a Mand'alor. Mandalore the Preserver was perhaps the most famous of Mandalorians in reuniting the clans and bringing strength and honour to the name. The redeemed Prodigal Knight Revan had bestowed the Mask of Mandalore upon Canderous Ordo, a proud Mandalorian and trusted friend; with the power to reunite the clans under Ordo the idea lived once more. It is in this idea that the Mandalorians are truly measured, one could call themselves what they'd like but in order to be truly Mandalorian one must reclaim that heritage... Whether in the symbolic form of a mask or the unassailable feats of a great warrior; that idea must be proven with valour.

"The Sith came to us with an offer---to fight a worthy enemy in a battle that would be remembered forever." -- Canderous Ordo

Of course the only thing greater than personal feats were the memories preserved in battle; the scars of war. When the Sith revealed themselves to the Mandalorians they promised greatness, glory, and a battle that would be remembered forever. Their enemy -- their great proof of strength -- came in the form of the Jedi, peacekeepers of the Galactic Republic. The Mandalorians were ready for war and even though they had been manipulated by the Sith, they knew that the promise of battle was not one to take lightly. When the war did come the Mandalorians had the upper hand. Countless Republic worlds fell into their grasp, but the promised Jedi did not come even as the crusaders conquered.

The continued expansion of the Mandalorian people struck fear across the galaxy. Many joined them as many also fell to their unmatched might, the galaxy at large was not ready for their armies or fleets. Although eventually defeated by the Revanchists, the crusaders etched themselves into a history that would be remembered for centuries to come. In that end the idea lived for a new Mandalore to take the mantle.

"You were at Serroco, when they turned the Stereb cities into glass craters. At Duro, when Basilisk war droids rained like meteors onto the orbiting cities, and when the Mandalorians set fire to the Xoxin plains on Eres III---the fires that burn still." -- Anton Rand to Meetra Surik

All great acts of war leave an aftermath but where the Mandalorians march, they leave behind the mark of true battle, the memory of their triumph. Infamy was what they sought; these crusaders. Even if they were killed, even if they were beaten back, there were always remnants of their victory. Whether it be in eternal flames or the tales children are told at night. The Mandalorians are not so easily forgotten.

A new Mandalore...

How far has Mand'alor fallen? Where are the trimuphs? Do the fires of Xoxin no longer burn!? Great battles are tales to children, the Mando'ade are without their former glory; the Jedi that were once their greatest adversary are the very same Jedi who now hold the enemy at bay. Echoes of crusades since past are the hollowness within the heart of Mand'alor, to that a new one must rise. From the fires of triumphs, the memory of wars never forgotten. Let the scattered clans know that once more a new Mandalore shall rise. Rise and take back the title wrongfully held by Azrael, Mandalore the Usurper.

Just as the Sith backed the true Mandalorians under those such as the Indomitable or the Ultimate, so shall The Primeval back those who wish to restore the Mandalorian Crusades. To kill their greatest adversary -- the Jedi -- in honourable battle, to wage war across the galaxy, to set fire to worlds and claim triumphs. Backed by fleets, armed with weapons, and united by the undying idea that is Mando'ade the Mandalorians shall reign once more; let it be known that the greatest warrior is Mand'alor, the sole ruler of warriors and the master of war itself. Gods or no Gods, combat will be the ultimate judgement and under new--better--leadership the strong will restore what was usurped by the weak.

"The Republic thinks my people are dead, scattered. They are wrong. You should have destroyed us when you had the chance. As long as one Mandalorian lives, we will survive."

Come Children of Mandalore, the future awaits the strongest warriors; fighters born true and brave. War with honour, honour with sacrifice, sacrifice with merit. There are many paths to follow and clans to be reborn. Where will this new saga lead you? Will you like the crusaders of old set fires that yet burn? Decimate entire worlds from the space above, ride warmounts into the fields of battle? The past is more than just stories, it is the mark of possibilities; a measure to be broken.

Mand'oade, your true Mand'alor calls you. Those who will lead your people, come to Dantooine. Here a New Order is rising, one which will replace the Old; an Old Order which sits in complacency and fear. Will you seek out the battle to be remembered forever? Will you bring greatness to an idea long since neglected?

Will you join the Mandalorian Crusaders?

Personally, I feel it focuses too much on the past. It feels more like a "Why every Mandalorian is great" history book, rather than "We are the true Mandalorains, and everyone else is a weakened shadow!" recruitment ad.

My suggestion, is focus on those scars of the war that immortalize the Mandalorians. Highlight those specific events, and then blow them out of proportion, then ride that description of awe and carry it on into what they could do in the future. That's what people want to know: what are you going to do?

Updated a bit, although I couldn't really rewrite it to express what we're going to do other than launch a Mandalorian faction that dislikes the current regime and wants a more 'bloodthirsty' one. Two reasons for that.

  1. I want to provide the clay, not the art. Let people run wild and come up with their own direction to shape the sub-faction.
  2. Writing hurts :(
