Private the New aprentice

Laphisto

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
It had been a while since Laphsito had taken on another apprentice; in fact, it was even rarer that he was requested directly by a student from the academy. so much so that he couldn't help but accept the request. And so he stood in the hanger his arms crossed behind his back, tail swaying side to side as teh shuttle began its approach. landing in the hangar bay. he had read Selvrali Selvrali 's file, and for the most part, they did well in class. it wasnt untill he looked into there history. how they joined the order, that it started to make sense. She was one of the ones he had saved that day. straightening himself upright is only barely he walked towards the rear loading ramp as it began to lower. This should be interesting to say the least.

Had not forgotten any part of that day. Life before it was a blur of the same day with different faces. She even remmebered the mans name- or at least what the men addressed him as; Laphisto. She knew he was only acting on orders- but she still saw him as the hero. Like the ones she grew up hearing about. Despite some struggles at the start- she quickly showned a keen sense and was a fast learner. She had requested him by name. Remembering she never got to thank him that day. Slowly she shuffled down the ships ramp, hands neatly folded infront of her simple white and baize robes. Her deep hood pulled up just a bit. It only took a quick look for her to spot the towering man. Nervous- she crossed the landing dock over to him. Offering a deep bow "M-Master Laphisto!- I... wanted to thank you for accepting my request!" she uttered quickly- as if having repeated that line in her head in preparation.

he let his heterochromatic eyes dart over the woman before him. His head tilted to the side before the force flashed over his eyes. A golden glow filled the once green-blue eyes with crimson red outlines along their edges. peering into her through the force with a curious look. pulling at her chosen alignment to the force. Though once that glow faded, he winced visibly. a hand coming up to rub at the bridge of his nose, before letting out a small chuckle, soon pushing past his lips as she addressed him, holding a taloned hand outwards as if to stop her for a moment. " Commander is fine, Private. its good to have you on Aurora station. You graduated at trying times." Turning around, he motioned for her to follow him, his tail swaying behind him, wings rustling slightly.

"The Lilaste order is about to leave Diarchal space. After the disappearance of the Diarchs, civil war has begun, and while we tried to keep order. we just don't have the manpower." With a small shake of his head, he glanced over towards her. looking at her attire with a raised brow. before shaking his head. "You know not many students have the gall to request the High Commander by name. You're already making quite a name for yourself Selvrali Selvrali . quite impressive"

Her aura was fairly dense for a simple trainee, a wounded heart tempered with kindness. Rali froze ridded slightly as he corrected her, she even told herself not to use such an old title. "Right... Sorry- Commander, Thank you." she corrected herself softly as she quickly followed- having to step a bit faster to keep up with his longer strides, mindful not to trip over his tail! Listening to his explanation of the situation- while taking a few glances about the landing hanger as the two walked. Already there was a noticeable difference in the faces around her. Not young- hopeful trainees, but hardened soldiers. Battle scared ships. It was somewhat daughting to the rather gentle Twi'lek.

As he mentioned her request specifically for him- she felt silly. She really had no other reason in doing so- other then a feeling she though was her just needing to thank him. Unknowing of the forces guidance. After a quiet moment she finally spoke up. "
Thank you, Commander. I- Never got to thank you, that day on the Slaver ship.- " Even saying it out loud she felt silly. Nervously fidgeting with the long sleeves of her robes.

A smile crept across his lips at her words. turning to look at her while they walked down the station's halls. " You need not thank me. That is what the order does. We protect the helpless. and uplift the weak." gave her a small, subtle nod, and in his own way, half felt bad that he didn't quite remember seeing her. There were so many faces that day that one would think he would have spotted someone as bright as her, both personality-wise and in color. stepping to the side, he pressed himself against a wall as two engineers went running past them. holding a hand out in front of the girl in a protective manner, like one would if they slammed on the breaks to hard to protect the passenger.

"come let sget you settled in. I've prepared a room in the barracks for you to stay in." Once the engineers had passed, he began walking again. Though noticeably slower to better help the girl keep up, he led her straight to her new room. pushing a button on the door for her. It was, for the most part, fairly simple, yet had plenty of room for decorations and momentos. " Take the day and get acquainted with your room and the station. we start your training first thing tomorrow."

Selvrali Selvrali

Offered a weak giggle, she had a reputation of being a bit to formal- so this would not be the last time he told her not to thank him. Her shoulders relaxing a bit as she though the introduction went decent. Though entirely distracted by Laphisto Laphisto , she would have ben ran right over had he not stuck his arm around and pulled her back. Offering a cute " Eep! " followed by a sheepish smile back up to him. She was going to have to remember she was not back in training any more.

The room came as a surprise to her, having spent her training in a shared student barracks. Before then, a place of her own was the last thing she was thinking about. She set the small pack of her things down on the empty desk. Finally pushing her hood back fully- exposing her slender, patterned lekku. Anxiously holding one close to her chest as she walked the room for a moment. Stopping in the middle and facing the Commander. At a lose for words- she simply offered a deep bow. Finally offering a soft "See you in the morning, Si- Commander." before the door closed fully.

He stood at the door way as the girl examined her new room, his arms once again pushed behind his back. Only when she turned to face him and bowed her thanks did he unfold his hands. Bringing a closed fist to his chest, he dipped forward in a small bow, one of the more common greetings within the order's military ranks. " till then, Private Selvrali." As the door closed in front of him, he turned to leave down the hallway to his office. The last order was to pack up and leave in about a week's time, which meant cadets and trainees were being pulled out of the academies and training grounds early. The impact of such actions hadn't quite hit him until today.

Cadets and new Privates were not being issued uniforms nor weapons like they should have been. it was something logistics would have to deal with after they arrived to there destination. Right now what mattered most was getting his people in the fleet and ensuring those who wanted to come with the order were transported safely. he had already had to deal with several governors turn coating and declaring themselves the next leaders of the Diarchy. it wouldn't be long till the entire region was a mess.

Selvrali Selvrali

Alone, Selvrali gave another look around the room. It was quiet- peaceful. Finding time alone was nearly impossible back in the academy, so this even felt strange to the Twi'lek. She stopped herself from pacing the room by setting out her robes and neatly folding them away. She carried no personal affects- leaving the room terribly empty. She had not had anything of her own for quite some time. With what little she did have already put away, she sat at the foot of her new bed.

She softly traced her fingers over the soft material, lost in the distant hum of the engine. Still sitting, she took a long breath. When she was a captive still- she had made friends with a Mirialan woman. Older then even her older sister- the woman was the only kind face she knew. She had taught Selvrali to meditate when she felt like this. She first though of nothing- like she was told. The engine hum helped with that. Sitting that that for a time, she found it easy to keep a clear mind; to sit with herself alone and listen. She could hear voices- not voices, but conversations. Outside her door at first- then further down the hall. It got to a point where she started to get anxious because of all the conversations she could hear- unable to focus on just one. Finally snapping herself out of the meditation, her grip on the soft material below was tight. Once more- she sat at the foot of her bed, in the quiet of her room. Eventually crawling back and forcing herself to sleep.

Laphisto

Laphistop had picked the girl up first thing in the morning. and immediately set about equipping her properly. He had brought a proper uniform with him. grnated it would only be used for times of ceremony. It was still important that she had one. One of the most notable things Selvrali Selvrali might have noticed as he walked her through the station's halls and towards the armory was. Everyone in some way or another had their armor on. mechanics engineering crerws. all armed and wearing their own variations of combat armor. That was the thing about a military-based society. When it came down to it, there was no civilian class; if anything, the order was close to being somewhat Mandalorian. though minus the clans and more militarized.

Once at the armory, Laphisto crossed his arms over his chest, looking the girl over with a small smile." now its time for you to get into proper gear. go on in and get fitted for your Armor. next we will get you your rifle and sidearm. " He thought for a moment before frowning. he didnt remember seeing her with a saber or not. "Did you complete your saber course? or were you not issued one yet?"

Selvrali woke early- as she usually did. Clutching the covers to her chest in a light panic that lasted only a second. Feeling the soft material reminded her that she was not back in the transport ship. She sat up on the edge of her bed, looking around first- as if expecting someone in the room. Dressing in a simple fitting shirt and loose pants. Deciding to loosely tie her lekku back with a length of leather cord. Distracted for a time in the mirror hung above the desk. Her attention only broke by familiarly heavy footsteps approached her door. Practically bolting to the door and opening it even before Laphisto Laphisto could reach it. "Commander! G-Good morning..." she offered as she stepped out of her room.

As the two walked- and with the landing jitters mostly gone; she actually took in the ship. She quickly noticed how she stood out. In that she was the only Twi'lek- or even only woman. She was the only one dressed casually. Because of her circumstance of joining the Order, and the current issue of rushed training; Rali lacked the most basics. Presented with her new 'outfit' she hesitated. First brushing a hand across the breastplate, then lifting a gauntlet. Seeing no sense in complaining- she did request the Commander after all. After a bit longer then one would hope it would take a soldier to get ready, she stepped out rather ridged. "I..." she hesitated, half worried about the response she would get. "Was never given a real... Saber." Once more feeling rather silly for requesting Commander Laphisto by name.

Laphisto

frowned at her admission, though gave a chuckle at the way she seemed... unused to wearing armor. He had a feeling this would be the norm for this batch of recruits. especially considering the circumstances, and the thought of seeing Sergeant Dornahan losing his lid was humorous enough to cause him to chuckle audibly before shaking his head, " That thats alright, you will get used to the armor." he leaned in, racking his knuckle against her brestplate letting the metal vibrate," made of Kov'dra. our sacred metal. If you know anything about the Mandalorians, then consider this our Beskar."

When she mentioned she had no saber, he smiled at that. No saber? That meant he could take her to the forge and teach his favorite subject. blacksmithing. gesturing to a wall laphisto looked at her smaller frame, his hand hovering over the LO-20D in its standard rifle configuration. before grabbing something.. smaller. It was the same weapon most of the soldiers were using, yes. But it was configured as an SMG hambered in .45 " if you don't have a saber, then we need to head to the foundry next so you can make it." As he spoke, he racked teh slide of the weapon before handing it to her, his other hand grabbing a smaller LO-12S for her sidearm. doing the same thing he did with the rifle, ensuring she knew it was safe to handle

Selvrali Selvrali .

She offered a slight giggle as his knuckled clanked off her new armor. Getting a closer look at the LO emblems on his shoulder- then looking to her own for it. Thinking for a moment, before being shown the wall rack of weapons. She had trained with them all- not that she enjoyed it. But she guessed it was better then what could have been- had Laphisto Laphisto and his squad came across that slave ship. A slight smile showed she was somewhat happy he gave her the smaller smg version of the primary gun. She remmebered the full size hurting her shoulder. Mag-holstering it, and the 12S as she was handed them.

Finally thinking to ask a question she had not really gotten an answer to yet. "Commander- The Lilaste Order. Its a military power... But also a civilian body?" One of the last things she though she would be during her time a slave was a soldiers. He could sense a fair deal of doubt in herself still. Training drills and target practice was one thing.

Laphisto

he paused for a moment, thinking over her question to try and get a better answer. Her question, "We are both and yet neither. We are closer to the Mandalorians but removed of their biggest weaknesses. the individuality of the clans. Everyone is trained to fight. to protect themselves and others so that they are not helpless. Everyone is given every tool available to survive. We do not train for war for the sake of waging it. But because the galaxy does not care if you are ready for it or not. We ensure no one is helpless," he almost frowned at the thought, his ears pinning back on his head briefly as he spoke. he had designed the order originally as a place for both light and dark side users to o exist. as a organizzation that could prove that they could live in harmony.

But that vision had shifted drastically when his first apprentice had gone missing during a battle in the early years of survival. The military might of the order wasn't even close to a fraction of what it is now. they didnt have enough manpower. and yet too many civilians for them to protect. It was a slaughter. And it was that day that saw the order's dramatic shift. "Those under our banner should not have to suffer until the main force can arrive. a goverments duty is to protect its people. by any means necessary. And if that means ensuring everyone is armed and trained, then that is what we must do."

Selvrali Selvrali

His response made her think back, even before the slavers. Maybe if that was how everyone lived- she would not have been separated from her family. In a way, it helped knowing she was apart of something working for that kind of universe. The Commanders explanation seeming to both answer her question, and instill a bit of trust in the process she found herself in. She could sense the shift in his emotions as he further explaned. A little frown of her own tugging at the corners of her mouth. Questions sated for now, she changed the topic to something she could tell he was excited about "You mentioned a foundry?" she seemed at least somewhat excited about the idea too.

In her file- It was noted that she was far better with force and saber combat- then militarized regiments. She was rather smart for a slave girl- and was resilient as the Twi'leks came. She had seen plenty of real sabers over the years- but had yet to be given one of her own. Though entirely unfamiliar with the process of making one- or even forging.

Shaking his thoughts free, he cleared his throat and gave her a small nod. arms pushing back behind his back as he spoke, "Aye, the foundry is within the engineering bay of Aurora station. It's where you will set about creating your first lightsaber from the very begining. " he shot her a small smile as they walked. " I read your file. your well versed in saber combat and exceptional with the force. tell me then why is it that you think the order provides such protection and requires diverse skills from even its force-sensitive members?"

The question was, truthfully, a weighted one; it didn't have a right or wrong answer. But it was instead designed and worded so he could learn more about her. As they boarded a turbo lift laphisto pressed the button and turned to face the door. standing at a parade rest. he didn't look at her; he looked forward. trying to be as professional as he could.

Selvrali Selvrali

She followed quickly behind him- this time paying more attention to the busy surroundings rather then the Commander. Her nose scrunched a little as she though on the question. With her life experience, it was hard. Until the Order- there was no such thing as protection. Never the less she though back to her family- as she usually did. Maybe had she known she was force-sensitive, she could of helped them. "You said the Order trains people to be prepared for a uncaring Universe. I know nothing comes free- Its like a transaction. The Order provides Training and protection, and demands skilled people to maintain itself. Both in combat- and out." she offered, holding her helmet in both hands; looking into the visor.

Once in the turbo lift- she edged close to an outside wall and peeked out the viewing glass. It was an interesting chaos that she had never got to see at this kind of scale. She though the slavers transport ship- and the two rusty interceptors that followed was intimidating. She had no idea the amount of might the Order had. She watched both droid and sentient working like clockwork- as further out massive ships floated around each other. Finally looking back and up to Laphisto Laphisto with a slight smile. "Has your position always been High Commander?" she had wondered about his position.

Laphisto

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
listened to her words intently; he always had a habit of getting philosophical, a habit he had picked up while being raised in the Jedi temple on Ossus nearly eight thousand years ago. and a habit that ultimately landed him in the trouble that led to his imprisonment. When she hit him with her own queshtion only then did he turn to address her. tilting his head to the side slightly," I created the Lilaste order. though my title was given to me by the members of the order. It started as simply commander, but as more commanders began to come into existance it was elevated to high commander. I am not a political leader. never have been. So terms like Chancellor, Moff. president etc etc didnt fit. When the order goes to war i do not sit behind a desk. instead i join those I command on the battlefield. I will not tell my people to risk their lives doing something if I would not do the same."

he seemed to frown lightly almost is if predicting a question that was going to form or might form "Death happens in war and conflict. I understand i cannot protect everyone but unlike some political leader i take responsibility. that is what the Hall of Remembrance is for." he thought back to the last ceremony he hosted, shaking his head gently. That little box in his desk was getting fuller and fuller. Soon enough, he would need to get another box.

Selvrali Selvrali

Selvrali's posture straightened almost unconsciously as he spoke, her lekku giving a slow, thoughtful sway behind her shoulders. There was something in his words that settled heavier than she expected—not fear exactly, but weight.

For a moment, she didn't answer. Her gaze drifted past him, out toward the shifting cityscape beyond the maglift's window, watching the lights blur together as they moved. "…Then you're not like the leaders I've heard about." Her voice was softer when she finally spoke, but steadier than before. She turned her attention back to him, studying his expression as if trying to understand not just the man, but the meaning behind the title he carried.

"I grew up hearing about generals and chancellors… people who sent others to fight while they stayed safe, far away from it." A faint crease formed in her brow. "It always felt… distant. Like they were part of a different reality than everyone else." There was a brief pause before her shoulders eased, just slightly. "But you don't sound distant." A small, almost hesitant smile touched her lips—there, and gone just as quickly.

"If I'm going to follow someone into something like that… into war, into loss…" Her fingers curled lightly together in her lap, grounding herself. "I think I'd rather it be someone who actually remembers the names." Her eyes flicked downward for a second, then back up, quieter now. "Not just the profits."

Another pause followed, longer this time, as if she were debating whether to say more. When she did, her voice carried a trace of something more personal—uncertain, but sincere. "…Does it ever get easier?"

Laphisto Laphisto

Laphisto

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto found a quiet measure of relief in her response. She understood. More importantly, she did not challenge him or fall back on the familiar argument that a leader must be shielded, kept distant from the risks borne by those under their command. There was no insistence, no attempt to correct him. Instead, there was a subtle respect in the way she received his words, something that felt closer to admiration than obligation. For Laphisto, that was enough.

When she asked if it ever became easier, he gave his answer before she had even fully finished the question. His head shook once, firm and certain. "No. It never does." His voice was steady, but not cold. There was weight behind it, the kind carried by experience rather than theory. He held her gaze as he continued, "But that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. It only means you still have enough compassion. The moment it stops hurting, that's when you know you've begun to fail. Not just those around you, or the ones under your command, but even yourself."

He let the thought settle between them rather than rushing to fill the silence. There was no attempt to soften it or dress it in something more comforting. The truth did not need that. For Laphisto, the burden of leadership was not something to overcome or grow numb to. It was something to carry, fully and consciously, because losing the weight of it meant losing the very thing that made the responsibility matter. he had seen death and lead men and women into battle more times than he could count. he was never any good when it came to not forming connections.

As the doors to the turbolift slid open, Laphisto's attention snapped forward. Without hesitation, his taloned feet carried him out into the corridor beyond. The transition from the lift's quiet into the engineering bay was immediate and overwhelming. The air itself seemed alive with motion and sound.

From deeper within the bay came the constant rhythm of industry. Sparks flashed intermittently from active workstations, brief bursts of light cutting through the dim, utilitarian glow of overhead fixtures. The hum and grind of heavy machinery filled the space, layered with the sharp clatter of tools striking metal. Voices rose above it all, workers calling out to one another, forced to speak loudly just to be heard over the relentless noise.

He guided her through the maze of the engineering section with practiced familiarity, weaving between narrow aisles and passing through clusters of active workshops. Technicians and engineers moved around them with focused urgency, each absorbed in their own task as components were assembled, repaired, or forged in real time. The path he took was not direct, but intentional, cutting through different sections as if he were showing her not just the destination, but the scale of what existed here. if the girl was more observant, she might have noticed the lack of droid labor.

Eventually, the noise softened. They stepped into a more open room set slightly apart from the rest of the bay. Compared to the surrounding chaos, the space felt almost contained. It resembled a open aired tool shed more than a formal workshop, though everything within it was organized with clear purpose. A sturdy worktable sat at the center, its surface marked by use. Along the walls, conveyor shelves carried neatly sorted boxes of components, each moving slowly along their tracks for easy access. A terminal sat nearby.

Another feature stood out immediately. how ever A forge. Set against one side of the room, A blacksmith's anvil rested beside it, accompanied by a full set of tools that looked as though they had seen real use rather than decorative placement. Laphisto moved toward the terminal and activated it, the screen flickering to life as systems initialized. He rested a hand briefly against the console before glancing back toward her.

"This here will allow you to look up any tool, mold, or component you'll need, You have access to ingots for smelting and crafting. Whatever you're building, you won't be limited by materials or design."

reaching down, Laphisto unclipped his lightsaber from his belt and brought it up between them, holding it out in a steady, deliberate offering. The hilt rested in his hand not as a weapon in that moment, but as an example, something meant to be studied rather than wielded. The faint scarring along its surface and the subtle signs of wear spoke of years of use, of battles fought and decisions carried through steel and fire.

"Your saber is a mirror of who you are," He shifted the hilt slightly, angling it so she could see it more clearly before continuing. "I could give you everything you need to make one. Prefabricated parts. Mass-produced components. Something clean, efficient, and functional. But it wouldn't be yours. Not truly."

Laphisto lowered the saber slightly, though he did not return it to his belt. Instead, he held it at his side as he continued to speak. before eventually using the force to take it apart hovering the components int he air between them. The crystal now on full displayed seemd to glow with its own unique force signature. almost as if it was alive.

"It wouldn't carry anything of you within it. No struggle. No intent. No meaning. Instead, you'll build it from the ground up. You'll forge your weapon yourself. Every hammer strike, every weld, every bolt and fastening. Every flaw and every imperfection. All of it will reflect you. it won't just be a tool. It will be an extension of you. A physical echo of your will, your discipline, and your choices. If there are imperfections in it, they will be yours. If there is strength in it, that will be yours too."

Selvrali Selvrali

Selvrali only frowned slightly, but only for a moment before looking back outside the trubolift. She had more questions- but sat with the answer to her last one for the rest of the trip. Leaning forward some on the inner railing, she could only imagine what the Commanders position was like. In her current view alone it felt like she could see more people then she had ever known. Lost in the staggering though - the sudden hiss of the lifts doors opening caused her to tense slightly. Straightening quickly and softly clearing her throat as she quickly followed behind Laphisto Laphisto .

She found it staggering the amount of labor the station had. Everyone seemed to have a task- and actively was doing it. Some so focused that she felt bad even crossing though there work areas! Finding herself rather thankful for the Commanders large wings- it made following close behind him a breeze! Only leaving that wake when the two stepped into what she could only assume was the foundry. Stepping to a conveyor wall and watched as parts slowly rotated. Picking up an emitter and turning it in her hand for a moment before returning it to the belt.

Training had gone over the parts of a Saber- but it was a lot different then seeing them physically. Laphistos saber- now deconstructed and on display was unlike she though possible. She leaned in only a hair to better inspect the crystal better. She found it fascinating. Looking somewhat unsure at first- she stepped over to the terminal. Browsing the database for a time- seemingly rather indecisive Laphisto would note.
