OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To detail the cult of Abeloth led by Darth Vinaze, the foundation of his Sith Clan.
  • Canon: The Sith
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Abeloth
GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Religion Name: Cult of the Mother (by outsiders), The Mother's Chosen (by cultists)
  • Religion Type: Force-Based Monotheism
  • Influence: Minor
  • Influence Area: The Cult can be found primarily on Tash-Taral
  • Symbol: A white eye, surrounded by white tendrils facing outward
  • Description: The Mother's Chosen are a Sith cult dedicated to Abeloth, the force entity also known as the Mother. Their main intent is the gathering of any and all knowledge, and are frequent practitioners of the Mind-Walking tradition.
SOCIAL INFORMATION

  • Founder: Darth Vinaze Darth Vinaze
  • Membership: Membership of the Mother's Chosen is very open, although not always voluntary. Many of the cultists are thralls of Darth Vinaze and his acolytes, brainwashed into devout belief. Non-brainwashed cultists are drawn to the promise of esoteric, apocryphal knowledge of the Dark Side and like many Sith the prospect of immortality. The cult possesses no rank formal rank structure and the followers are considered equal. This is far from true, as the more powerful cultists often wield their power over lessers, forming a natural hierarchy.
  • Sacred:
    • The Maw: The series of black holes in which Abeloth was originally imprisoned by her family have become a holy land to the Cult. While few have ever journeyed into the hallowed space themselves, they believe that those who get lost in The Maw are embraced by Abeloth.
    • The Dagger of Mortis: The single most unholy object to the cult is the legendary Dagger of Mortis, said to be used by Luke Skywalker to banish Abeloth from the mortal plane. If it were ever to be found, it is the expected duty of a Mother's Chosen to destroy it without hesitation, so to ensure that her eventual return cannot be stopped.
  • Dogma: At the core, the Mother's Chosen are Sith. They adhere to the Sith Code like others, but believe that the Sith are the chosen people of Abeloth. They are militant hunters of forbidden knowledge, searching for any way possible to contact their goddess, and eventually return her rule to the galaxy. Following the tenets of the Code are key requirements for unlocking the knowledge they believe will lead them to their goddess.
  • Reputation: The Mother's Chosen are few in number and tend to hide their affiliation from fellow Sith, who see them as bordering on heretical. Despite this, the more vocal members of the cult are know for their ferocity and dedication on the frontline of the Warlord's Crusade.

MEMBERS
Darth Vinaze Darth Vinaze : Founder of the cult, considered by some to be the prophet of Abeloth (though he strongly refutes this, insisting that he is just another acolyte of her esoteric knowledge).
Kuric Taumin: Apprentice of Darth Vinaze and chief enforcer of the cult, intent on leaving a path of destruction for his goddess.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Darth Vinaze founded the Mother's Chosen cult some time shortly after the first battle of Bastion, when he went into self imposed exile. In his exile, he traveled discreetly around the galaxy on a pilgrimage to reconnect with the Dark Side. He visited worlds of extreme dark side energy like Sepulcher and Exegol, both places he had studied as a knight. Now as a master, he could truly understand what he felt when he journeyed into the deepest Sith crypts to meditate. He felt the void calling out to him, the blackness between the stars. It drove him to the brink of madness trying to learn what it meant.

The Maw was the dark pilgrim's final destination. A student of Darth Sidious his entire life, Vinaze had heard tales of the Ones, whom Anakin Skywalker had supposedly slain before his fall to the dark side. The One known as The Mother had intrigued him. Her presence in the galaxy was well documented by the Jedi who fought her, but one thing remained questionable: Had they truly killed her? In life The Maw had been her prison, and Vinaze believed answers might have lied within. He claims to have met Abeloth, The Mother. Whether the ancient force entity had actually spoken to him, or if he was spouting the ravings of a mad man, is yet unknown.

Yet, the story helps give him credibility with his followers. Many were academics like himself, hoping to find the truth of the matter and claim some of The Mother's power for themselves. Others were brainwashed slaves or thralls of Vinaze, and often became the most devout followers. No matter how they came to join, they all wished for a part of the same thing which Vinaze promised: eternal life and the eternal expansion of consciousness when they summon The Mother and become one with her.

When the cult had amassed a moderate following from around the territories of the Warlords of the Sith and the Tingel arm in general, they settled in the remote deserts of Tash-Taral. They live far enough from the rest of the Warlords Sith to conduct their rituals and experiments in quiet, though close enough to interact when need be. In their lair they create profane Sithspawn and practice ancient dark magics, hoping that mastery over life and the material universe might be the key to bringing their goddess back to the mortal plane. They crave any and all knowledge of the dark side, anything that might empower them to do so...

Darth Vinaze Darth Vinaze - This is awesome! I'm loving it. Historical information I think you can really expand on a bit. How did Vinaze rise to power? What made the others in the religion follow him? Are there rituals and such that the group does?

I feel by expanding on these in the historical information and explaining a bit more why they do what they do would really add some life and garner more Role Play opportunities for you and those that wish to join you and THE MOTHER.

Other wise this is looking really awesome and fun :)
