WEAKNESSES
- Lonely fighter: maneuverability, speed, and firepower make this ship hard to match up with in other fighter units for coordinated tactics. If Loreena Arenais-Valhoun is not careful, she could accidentally isolate herself from her escorts and end up surrounded.
- Expensive Maintenance: this ship was built to racing and performance specs and tolerances rather than military specifications. The result is higher maintenance requirements and costs in exchange for higher performance. For the personal safety of Loreena Arenais, Lady of the Arenais house, wife of Rex Valhoun, and owner of the MandalArms company, the cost is considered acceptable.
DESCRIPTION
The Lioness is a heavily modified X-class Elysium Starfighter. So much so, that while on the outside it looks nearly identical to the original design, under the hull it might as well be an entirely different ship. The power supply was beefed up tremendously, weapons and better armor were added, superior materials were used in the space frame, and the thrusters were made to racing specs rather than military specs. A co-pilot seat is included so that Lori can take her companion Arla with her.
The Lioness is so painstakingly well-built that it cost the same as a Val-Khaar-Class Corvette to make. The Dobsons were so irritated with the wasteful expenditure on this ship that they even petitioned to the senate to block the project. Since this ship was a wedding gift from King Heath Valhoun to his new daughter-in-law, he vetoed the petition before it could go to vote. He even pulled some strings and got some managers at MandalArms to assist with the implementation of beskar in the framework to “test their new partnership” in secret from Loreena Arenais-Valhoun to keep the surprise.
