STRENGTHS
- Cuts through a variety of substances with ease.
- Blade power adjustment knob allows non-lethal training use.
- Durinium-lining. Most weapon detectors mistake this lightsaber for a tool.
- Contact with Cortosis will short out the blade.
- Not Water Resistant. Submersion of the emitter matrix into water, even just 1 inch, will render the lightsaber inoperable until it can be repaired.
- Basic Lightsaber. Cannot be used to deflect slugthrower rounds or deflect paddle beam-based weapondry. Does not cut through amphistaff. Has no dual phase capability. This is as basic as a lightsaber gets.
The lightsaber of Jedi Knight Jaa Harand has seen better days.
Originally a pristine piece of Jedi artistry, the Alderaan merchant selected Sarrassian iron for its durability and ease of upkeep. Comfort was supplied by wrapping the grip with leather, making it a simple and unassuming weapon. The leather used, however, had been treated with durinium. By wrapping the leather around the crystalline matrix and power supply, the lightsaber commonly passed through scanners without detection for what it really was. Instead, automated weapon detection protocols or law enforcement droids would read it as a tool or some other non-powered device.
The Alderaani Jedi constructed the lightsaber in the late 860s, when, at 25 years of age, he found himself a knight-errant of the New Jedi Order. In the ensuing decade of use, the weapon picked up a number of nicks or scratches by the time that the man had taken a padawan by the name of Calix. The pair departed the Core for the Outer Rim on a multi-year voyage to recover a medicinal flower from the Kathol Outback. When Jaa was killed along the journey, the damaged lightsaber fell into the possession of his surviving padawan.
When activated, the blade shone a vibrant blue color, the shade most often associated with the Jedi Guardians.
